Near to the Brokenhearted

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

Is your spirit crushed today? Or has it ever been? We know what crush means but to read the definition helps realize how bad it is. According to dictionary.reference.com crush means to press or squeeze with a force that destroys or deforms. Imagine when a person's spirit is crushed that it has been pressed or squeezed so hard that it is destroyed. The bible says that the "LORD SAVES THE CRUSHED SPIRIT". Praise God! If you feel like your heart is broken and your spirit is crushed, there is hope for you today because the Lord is near to you. Perhaps you don't have any faith left but still somehow came across reading this today. Or maybe you don't even want anything to do with God and the bible anymore. If so there is still hope for you. If you feel like you can't even pray anymore then ask others to pray for you. Call a prayer line or go to prayer requests online. Read a few bible verses a day or listen to a sermon. Please don't give up because the Lord is near to you. Draw near to him and he will draw near to you. James 4:8. This is a promise from God.

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. I Corinthians 13:7

Spiritual Assignment:

1. Write down all the things that have hurt you. (Reasons like how you don't think life is fair)

2. Write down all things that you regret.

3. Write down things that you may be mad at God for.

4. Pray about each thing and ask God to give you help, answers, and healing in dealing with them.

Dear God, I come to you with a defeated and broken spirit. The weight of my heavy and broken spirit is sometimes hard to bear. I need your help. I feel like I can't take any more pain. I just come to you now and surrender my spirit to you. I pray that you could give me strength and take my burdens away. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Please God hear my prayers and my cries and change my life today. Give me hope today. In Jesus' Name

Hi bearnmom, Thank you for reading and your sincere comment. Unfortunately, I have had my spirit crushed before, maybe more than once but God's grace always shines in the end of any trial. Thank you for your prayers and best wishes.

Sky, one Bible verse which gives me comfort is Hebrews 13:5 "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you." Hold onto that promise.
