Neighbor...Who Is That?

"Neighbor…Who Is That?"

Who is our neighbor?-

Is it the family next door?

Is it our allies or foes?

Is it the black, brown, red, yellow or white communities?

Is it the people who are living alternate lifestyles?

Is it the disabled?

Is it the rich or poor?

Is it the stranger who smiled at us?

Is it the person who frowns all the time?

Everyone is our neighbor. So, how do we treat our neighbor?

Should we just love the people who are like us, but not the ones who are different from us?

Should we just love the people who praise us, but not the ones who detest us?

Should we just love the people who pay attention to us, but not the ones who ignore us?

It is true that it is easier to love the people who are kind to us.

Anyone can do this, but not everyone can be kind to people who gossip about us or ignore and even disrespect us.

Guess what? We need to love everyone and yes, this includes the ones who despise us, no matter how difficult this may be.

If we don't, we are just minnows in the sea of enemies in their eyes.

When we continue to have resentment in our hearts, the tide comes in.

How do we handle this?

We need to have the love of God alive in our hearts.

In so doing, we please our Almighty Father who loved us and sacrificed Himself for us.

*Notes:

"…Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

This is the first and great commandment.

And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." (KJV, Matthew 22:37-39)

*Message:

"Whether you are a Christian or not, by loving unconditionally, you will have inner peace that no one can take away."
