New Ministries on the Way
Over the years God has blessed Lifegate Baptist Church. I have seen Him work in the lives of His people and watched His ministry expand in the church as well as outside the church. For those of you who do not know, Lifegate started from a small group of people that met weekly for a Bible Study after hours at a thrift shop in Bellefonte, PA. At present we hold two Sunday services, Sunday School, a mid-week prayer meeting, and we hit the streets Saturday morning to take the Gospel to those who have yet to find Christ.
My wife and daughter hold a Ladies meeting once a month. One of our families has started a church in a nursing home for the residents. This is not a church visiting a nursing home, but rather it is a church within a nursing home for the residents of the nursing home. They meet every Sunday. They also visit another nursing home once a month, while three others also visit a third nursing home.
Lifegate runs a counseling service led by my wife Deborah. She has an open meeting once a month where people can gather and discuss a topic of concern, as well as she counsels individuals and families. She is board certified through the International Board of Christian Counseling (IBCC), and has participated as a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC). I am not saying this because she is my wife, but it amazes me at the insight that she has into difficult emotional and spiritual problems.
So what is new about the ministry? We have now put it online. Although we are still tweaking the website it is up and running and absolutely anybody, anywhere can get private, confidential counseling in the comfort of their own home. No matter what the situation, I am confident that the Bible has the solution if people are willing to be paitent, and consistent, and work through the pain to healing.
Deb's ministry is called HeartFelt Christian Ministries. Her specialty is working with abused individuals, but she's been trained in all facets of Biblical Counseling. Why Biblical counseling? Because the Bible truly is the answer to all of life's problems. Biblical counseling is not about making someone feel good and building self-esteem. Biblical counseling can hit hard and allows no room for compromise. Tougher than secular psychology? Yes, but at the same time healing happens faster and more often. If someone is truly seeking to be healed, It is the only way to go.
Whether it is a matter of depression or anxiety, marriage counseling or family counseling--whether it is suicidal feelings or trauma caused by any number of situations, the Bible has the answer.
Online counseling is completely confidential. The counselee is identified only by a username of their choice (either real or fictitious). Although one must register to use the service, we do not sell or share email addresses and no picture is necessary for the registration. All counseling is done through chat.
I invite you to check out the website at www.heartfeltchristianministries.weebly.com. You may want to bookmark it for the future. Feel free to pass it on to your pastor as a resource, or get involved in the healing process and pass it on to those that are hurting.
Another ministry of Lifegate is Centre Region Baptist College. The college began in 2006 as a tool for training men and women for the ministry. Since then we have seen students come, graduate, and go into the field. That is what it is all about.
So what is new about the ministry? Nothing just yet, but we are working towards putting it online as well making it available to anyone to get the training they need from their computer. I will send more information along as things develop.
I sincerely hope that this new counseling ministry will be a blessing to you and to those that are hurting. If you have any questions, drop me an email. I will be glad to get back to you.
