~ Proverbs 21 The Goldmine Of Spiritual Wisdom ~

The Proverbs are an invigorating, enthralling, collection of wonderful godly wisdom! Full of brilliant pithy sayings and couplets! It is a great place in the Word to visit frequently! Here you can embark upon a spiritual journey that takes you deeper into the insight that is found only in the Word of God. The Proverbs are moral and ethical! King Solomon beautifully expresses his intimate thoughts! The beauty of it all is it is entirely true! It is highly recommended that you examine a Proverb at least once a day! One needs to pray and meditate and ask the Lord to further open your understanding to unlock the doorway to the portals of His magnificent wisdom!

“The Proverbs of Solomon son of David King of Israel: for attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight; for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair…” Proverbs 1. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom!

King Solomon came to the throne with great promise and privilege! Here he allows us to share his plethora of fascinating life adventures! We all can greatly benefit from His astute wisdom. He prolifically and efficiently spoke over three thousand (3,000) Proverbs! Despite Solomon’s wisdom he failed to always put them into practice! We can learn from his mistakes! These Proverbs were written to teach and offer us judicious advice on how to handle everyday life situations. One can learn how to properly conduct themselves as well as obtain indispensable discipline by embracing godly principles! One can discover here an innumerable myriad of profound truths that will enhance both your spiritual and personal life. God has something to say about every area of our lives!

King Solomon lived quite an intriguing life. As a king he had complete authority! Because of this in the eyes of some, he as king was even considered to be a god. We know that this was certainly not the case. As believers we understand and realize that there is only one true Supreme God; He is the Alpha and Omega the Beginning and the End! Revelation 22. We know that any king, president or world leader is a mere man or woman who ultimately is under God! This remains true whether they believe it or not! Solomon was a leader who loved the Lord and quite often walked in His statues! He was the wisest king or man to ever live! He asked God for wisdom! The Lord actually appeared to him! “The king went to Gibeon to offer sacrifices, for that was the most important high place, and Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar. At night the Lord appeared to him in a dream, and God said, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.” I Kings 3. It is at this time that King Solomon asked for a discerning heart to guide the Lord’s people!

No one really knows our hearts but God! When you know that it is your heart’s desire that the will of the Lord is done in your life, you must also know that there will be a great deal of spiritual warfare to attempt to take you off course. There is much in the Proverbs to help you out! We must daily seek the Lord in order to not be deceived by the many pitfalls and landmines so often designed to entrap us or cause us to astray from God’s principles for life and living.

Adam and Eve, Noah and his family, Moses and Sarah, Lot and his wife, Jacob and Esau, Rebecca, Joseph, Nehemiah, Job, David and Bathsheba and Solomon, are a few of the countless others that are all authentic examples found in the Word of God. Here we can see what does or does not happen when you do not listen to the Lord!

God is Sovereign! He is the source of any and everything that you will ever need! “He is the giver of every good and perfect gift .” JAMES 1. Developing an ongoing intimate and personal relationship with the Lord is the most important thing that you can ever do! The world will readily embrace and support you to conform to wide road traveling. It wants you to ignore what God has to say, compromise His principles; and to go along with whatever the majority decides even when it goes against what God has already said is wrong! Many worldly ways have been embraced and has nested itself within the lives of God’s people! This is true from the pulpit to the door! In order to turn it around we need the Lord!

You cannot turn back the hands of time and change anything! But you can 'REPENT' go on from this day forward seeking the Lord’s will for your life! We really can learn a lot from The Proverbs! God loves us! He is love! He created us! In His Word is a marvelous array of spiritual food designed to help us grow spiritually! To enlighten us and illuminate our path forward. “His Word is a lamp unto our feet and a Light unto our path.”

God never intended for us to live an unhappy, undisciplined, rigid, careless or worldly lifestyle. In the Proverbs one will discover that Solomon had all anyone could every want and more! God bestowed upon Him wisdom; He also had loving devoted parents who loved the Lord! But yet he choose to wander from what he knew was right! Here on these pages he captures the benefits of godly morals and principles! He also shares the consequences when one takes a detour onto the wide road that leads to destruction. This is why we all need a Savior!

Jesus Christ was born of the Virgin Mary! He was robed in a body of sinless flesh, lived a sinless life and overcame sin in the flesh for us! He was terribly mistreated, maligned, ostracized, beaten brutally, humiliated and crucified on the cross between two thieves, for the world! He died, was buried and then arose with all power! He is the Resurrection and the life! He appeared to many after His death and ascended to heaven! He has left us His promised Holy Spirit which is the Comforter, to help us better understand the Lord’s will and way for our lives! God has given us His Holy Spirit is an internal, eternal Teacher and Guide to lead us to all Truth! He wants us to know and understand His Word! Here in these Proverbs you will discover a great invaluable Spiritual Treasure!

~ Proverbs 21

Proverbial Lesson Highlights

God Knows the Heart

Today you can find and excuse to do just about anything and justify it. But this still does not make it right! It is important to keep in mind that God knows what is behind whatever we do! Our motives and intentions are forever and totally transparent to Him! We should always ask ourselves would God be pleased? “All of a man’s ways seem right to him, but the Lord weighs the heart.”

Doing What is RIGHT

God is Omnipotent and has absolute sovereign power! If you really think about it; nothing gets by Him! So if you think that you are getting away with something you really are not. To do something devious results in guilt if you have a sensitive conscience. Going out of the way to hurt someone actually hurts you more than the person intended. Don’t let anyone allow you to lower yourself into such behavior. People will often test and try you once you say you are committed to abiding by the principles of God! This does not mean that you are saying you are perfect or flawless. This does mean that you strive for "spirtual perfection!" The essence of spiritual perfection is to be complete in the Lord! It is important to begin to live as though you are before “an audience of One!” To earnestly attempt to do what is right in the eyes of God! Therefore even when you are falsely accused you can still have inner peace. “The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright.”

A Godly Wife

Wives this is a good scripture to camp on and ponder for a while! Don’t worry there are plenty of scriptures for the husband as well throughout the Word! So for now check yourself! If you are not married think about what type of relationship you want with your future husband? Think about it; if you are always arguing and making an issue out of everything guess what? Something needs to change! This does not mean that you don’t agree! Life would be quite boring if you agreed on everything! But there is a way to disagree without always continuously fighting, bickering and belittling one another! There are healthier ways to resolve issues and conflict! Strive to build a healthier living environment where the instability of the world is not welcomed but the grace, and peace of God abides!

During Solomon’s time the homes were built quite different. The roofs were like open patios. There was usually only a very small enclosed part of the roof that was flat. So spending time on the rooftop would be quite awkward, especially when the weather was fierce! As a matter of fact the Proverbs says:Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.”

Justice

What is justice? It is the quality of being just or righteous! Webster defines it in this way: “The maintenance or administration of what is just especially by the impartial adjustment of conflicting claims or the assignment of merited awards or punishments; the quality of conforming to the law.” The law is meant for the unlawful to safeguard, keep order and protect the innocent! Quite often as a person of Color you are assumed guilty until proven innocent! Today man continuously changes and modifies what is right and adjusts the law accordingly to how the masses feel…

There are numerous religious, civil and moral laws within the Word. When Jesus Christ came in the flesh He fulfilled the law. He never sinned! “The law was a schoolmaster to teach us right from wrong.” Galatians 3. When we accept Him as our Savior and Lord His Word teaches us: “I will put my laws in their minds and write them in their hearts. I will be their God and they will be my people.” Hebrews 8. Believers are supposed to live to please the Lord! His will and way should be our first priority! “The Joy of the Lord is my strength.” Nehemiah 8. God is a just God! Rest assured in His time He will right every wrong! “When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers.”

Warning for Wives

Here is another warning for the wives! As a wife you have some options. As a single woman you have some as well. You have the ability to create a healthy balanced living environment! It really does take two to tango! Don’t always make a mountain out of molehill. A molehill is used as an idiom because moles love tunneling which in turn causes small mounds of dirt to rise. So be careful! Living on the brink and always ready to explode is unhealthy for all involved. If you are a woman who is accustomed to always telling someone off and manipulating to get your way; simple change! You do not always have to agree with everything that is going on. It is good to learn to become transparent and share however you are feeling, but it is possible to do so without reaking havoc all the time. Check your attitude and learn to choose your battles wisely! “Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and ill tempered-wife”

Benefits of a righteous Life

The Proverbs have much to say about living a righteous life. It is always good to intermittently take a personal inventory and see where you are! One can easily wander away from the narrow path. Discipline is key! It is honorable to pursue living a righteous life. We arer supposed to be "In the world but not of the world!" Don't let the world dictate how you should be. All of God's promises are true! Trust God and consult with Him often for direction. He has promised to supply all our needs. He will also allow us to have some of our wants. But we must learn to relate to people and things properly. We live in a material world. And if God is our Father it is okay to want some things. After all you are clothed, have a roof over your head and... Prosperity is part of righteous living. But it is important to know that prosperity does not necessarily mean monetary wealth. We have a rich heritage in the Lord! “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for He founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters.” Psalm 24.

Is God your Father? In Him you can access whatever it is you will ever need. But it is important to know that God is not a genie! Quite often needs and wants get confused! Therefore we should pray and ask if it is in His will for us? Sincerely make your requests made known to the Lord and I assure you as you draw closer to Him you will be able to hear Him better! Take time and: "Be STILL and KNOW" He is able to provide for you and fill any void in your life! Remember “GOD is LOVE.” His Word is true! It is in Him you will find the essence of prosperity! “He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.”

Liars

The Word has a lot to say about lying. The devil is the father of lies. So you really want to be careful what you say to and about others. Lying has destroyed many relationships! Few really knows what it means to be a loyal friend... It is better to be a good friend and be dependent upon God. We can always count on God! "What A Friend We Have In JESUS!" The foundational basis to any good relationship is trust! Once trust is broken it is a painstakingly tedious process to restore it! One should pray and ask the Lord for discernment! There are those who will believe, say and do just about anything! We are living in a time when Good is called evil and evil good! It was lying that hung Jesus on the cross. It was the power of Truth that raised Him from the dead! The Lord’s Word will not return void. It is continuously being fulfilled. We can trust God and His Word! When He says;A false witness will perish and whoever listens to him will be destroyed forever.” Know this is true!

Proverbs 21 concludes by telling us: “A wicked man puts up a bold front, but an upright man gives thought to his ways. There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan, that can succeed against the Lord. The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the VICTORY rests in the LORD!" Praise God!

When I read this I am quite overwhelmed by the generosity and infinite patience of our Lord and Saviour.

These days in every environment,we are deluged with laws ,rules ,and protocols-which are so often anti-Christ.Wouldn't it be good and wholesome,if each person just read and was guided by 'The book of Proverbs'instead !

More GREAT lessons from a great king. Even a perfunctory reading of Solomon's "Gold Mine of Spiritual Wisdom," reveals truths that are as relevant today as they were some three milleniums ago.

"It is highly recommended that you examine a Proverb at least once a day! One needs to pray and meditate and ask the Lord to further open your understanding to unlock the doorway to the portals of His magnificent wisdom!" AMEN, AMEN, Praise the Lord!

Thank you DeBorrah, gifted woman of God, for exhorting the Proverbs with consistent and strong urgings that we not fail to seek His wisdom. All glory to God!!

Your sister in Christ Jesus!

Forever His,

Iatkins, Amen! The Lord indeed is "Patient" It is by His Grace that the world continues despite its obvious overall increasing disregard for His WORD!

You are point on about all the "anti-Christian" protocols etc. I think it would be much better if the focus was more on actually living out the principles in His Word! I Yes! The Proverbs are quite fascinating. We can all learn so much from Solomon!

DeBorrah, I love how you remind us that Solomon spoke over 3000 proverbs but didn't always apply them. It is easy in our society today to confuse education with faith, that knowing more makes us better. When we have Assembly, we usually end our prayers, before going into His Word, to help us learn His word and apply it to our lives. Most of our studies stay in the present-tense because everyone starts to apply the words to their own lives and the decisions they are currently making. There really is a joy and happiness in life when you perceive His word working in your life. That is victory! Peace.

A M Werner, We really can learn a great deal from Solomon! It is important that we implement daily what we learn and not just know! Now we have the gift of His Holy Spirit dwelling within us! This is why we ask for the Lord to fill us with His presence. Through prayer we consult with Him throughout the day!

Great point about confusing education with faith! Knowing God is what makes us better! If you don’t acknowledge Him you miss the whole point of life regardless of how educated you are. I realize that there are those who don’t believe... God is the giver and sustainer of life! Imagine there are multitudes breathing in His air and don’t believe in Him or that He exists? God is so gracious that He allows us all to choose… "Whosever will let him come." This is why we continue to share the Good News of the Gospel!

You have a wonderful approach to "Assembly" by readily eagerly embracing the Truth of His Word! It really is great when you realize that the Word is “Alive!” You relate to God as being present! You are so right about the JOY and HAPPINESS as well! God truly is Awesome!

Thank you as always for sharing your insight! In His love, Peace & Blessings!
