~ Proverbs 28 The Goldmine Of Spiritual Wisdom ~

The Proverbs are a marvelously essential, indispensible wealthy anthology of spectacular complied collected works! The Godly wisdom one experiences here is viable to encourage one to judiciously seek life altering spiritual growth. As one mines through the Proverbs wise astute contents there is an arousal of hope! The unseen becomes visible. The unthinkable is spoken and the miraculous become possible. The key to unlocking its contents is diligently seeking the Lord. His Holy Spirit is able to sharpen your spiritual acuity and lead you to the path of discernment!

God does not intend for us to be unaware of the meaning of His Word. His continued presence is available. One needs to only sincerely invite Him into your heart. You do not have to just aimlessly wander through life! His Holy Spirit is an available Navigator for your soul! He will illuminate your soul and open your spiritual eyes! God does not force his way into your life! Accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord is the required prerequisite.

Proverbs are short wise pithy sayings! They focus on God and teach us how to draw closer to Him by embracing His principles for life and living. They ostentatiously remind God’s people to call upon the Lord and seek out His direction. They educate us how to live life as our Creator originally intended! God wants to be a part of every area of our lives! Christianity was meant to be daily lifestyle!

Here in these Proverbs we are able to witness wisdom and folly luminously contrasted! King Solomon is the wisest man to ever live! The Lord’s favor rested upon Him! No doubt God’s presence was evident in His life! If you had the choice of whatever in life you wanted what would you choose? Well God gave this choice to King Solomon! God said, “Ask for whatever you want m e to give you.” I KIngs 3.

King Solomon answered. “You have shown great kindness to your servant, my father David because he was faithful to you and upright in heart. You have continued this kindness and have given him a son to sit on the throne this very day.

“Now Lord my God you have made your servant king in place of my father. David. But I am only a child and do not know how to carry out my duties. Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people too numerous to count or number. So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and distinguish between right and wrong…” I Kings 3.

It is evident that Solomon wanted to do the right thing in the beginning! Most are aware that he gradually strayed away from what he knew to be right. He candidly shares with us in these Proverbs his 20/20 vision in hindsight! Discernment is always crucial in determining what is right. This is a most significant imperative attribute for a leader to govern well. One must be objective! One must have godly foundational principles to rule justly! Consistency is key! One cannot waver and weave, compromise or waffle between what is right. What is most important is the measurement by which right and wrong is determined! As God’s children our first priority should be to please Him! As ministers of the Gospel we are held accountable for what we preach, teach, say and how we live. Our calling is not from man but from God!

Let’s hear King Solomon’s response that pleased the Lord! Camp here and slowly savor and ponder this extraordinary Word of God! “The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked this. So God said to him. “Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have you asked for death for your enemies but for discernment for administering justice. I will give you what you have asked. I will give you a discerning heart, so that there will NEVER be anyone like you, nor will there EVER be. Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for – both riches and honor – so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings. And if you walk in MY ways and obey MY statues and commands as your father David did, I will give you a long life…” I Kings 3.

What stands out most is “The Lord was pleased!” It is our heart that the Lord is most concerned with! “Man looks on the outside! But God looks at the heart.” He KNOWS the heart! Furthermore He created us. Therefore we should ask: “Create in me a clean heart and renew the right Spirit within me.” Psalms 51. In His Word He says “He will write His laws in our hearts.” Hebrews 10. Our goal should be to live to please God above all else! He will in His time work everything out for our good! In the process we learn to TRUST HIM! We must pray and seek His face daily! Here in these Proverbs we can learn much from many of the decisions Solomon made. It is important not to let anyone lure you into worldly concepts or superficial worship. We must individually and collectively look to God. His Word sets the standard His principles are timeless!

God is able! We too must ask Him for a discerning heart in order for His will to be done in our lives! God’s wisdom is available to us! However we must meditate upon His Word and draw closer to Him daily. We are living in a world where many do not recognize God as Sovereign nor His Word infallible! Many choose to “do their own thing! Never discount the Power of His Holy Spirit! Reading without soliciting His presence limits your spiritual insight into His Word! “In all your getting get understanding.” Proverbs 2.

The Proverbs provide practical wisdom for effective living! They focus on God, His character, His wisdom, your relationship with Him and how to apply any acquired wisdom. “Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance for understanding the Proverbs and parables, the saying and riddles of the wise. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.” Proverbs 1.

Truth is powerful! There is much to grasp for our finite minds within these wise pithy sayings! It is important to know His Word for yourself! We get to know God through His WORD. The Word became flesh! “He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. He came to that which was HIS own but His own did not receive Him. Yet to ALL who received HIM, to those who believed in HIS NAME, HE gave the right to become the children of God...” John 1.

That Word is Jesus Christ! He made something from nothing! He spoke this world into existence! Just think the world was created through Jesus but the world did not receive Him! Jesus is the Light of the world! We all need Him! When you accept him into your heart His Light shines through you! As you read and mediate on these Proverbs ask Him to open your spiritual eyes, write His wisdom upon your heart and give you spiritual discernment! His Light in you becomes brighter as you walk in the path of His righteousness!

God is about relationship! He is everywhere you are! The key to success is to fear HIM! To honor and respect HIM! He is the Giver and Sustainer of life! The Proverbs are God’s divine inspired Word! Herein contains marvelous poetry, pithy sayings, brilliant short stories, proficiently constructed parables and wise topical maxims with the necessary wisdom to instruct us how to live life victoriously each day in any and all situations when you trust and obey God! He who has an ear let Him hear!

~ PROVERBS 28 ~

Proverbial Lesson Highlights

GODLY and the wicked

The Proverbs has much to say about the wicked. Today wickedness has cloaked itself in so many ways … One must be discerning! Good is called evil and evil good. It is important to know the Lord’s Word! To not be pulled in by the deceptiveness that continuously permeates this world! One need not be afraid but aware.Be strong in the Lord and the power of His mite…” Ephesians 6. We can depend upon God against the attacks of the enemy. We must keep our spiritual armor intact and daily ask for the infilling presence of His Holy Spirit! We can stand boldly when our trust is in the Lord! “The wicked man flees though no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.”

God is a just God! Life is not always fair. Know God is always concerned about what happens to us! We are living in times when the principles of God’s Word are being laid aside. This is true of those who are in the Church as well. We must seek God’s Word and implement His principles in our lives. What does it mean to be a believer? Know what you say you believe!

King Solomon shares with us the folly of not listening and obeying the Lord. “Practice makes permanent.” Spend time with the Lord in His Word and daily seek His direction. Ask Him for discernment! You cannot undo what has been done! But you can from this day forward go forth in the Lord! Ask Him to open your understanding! “evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the Lord fully understand.”

MORE on the GODLY and the wicked

“There is a way that seems right?” But it is not the Lord’s way. Many are being deceived… When you are sincerely seeking the Lord’s way and someone devises a trap for you; guess what? In the long run they will suffer! Never let anyone pull you so low that you resort to hate. This only results in resentment that serves to mentally poison you. It is better to separate yourself from them! Bitterness dims your inner spiritual Light and allows darkness to hinder your path.Overcome evil with GOOD!” Trust God when others seek to ruin you or plot against you… Cleave to the Lord! “He will NEVER leave nor forsake you.” The story of Joseph is a wonderful story well worth taking the time to read and ponder! His brother’s jealousy was so perfuse they devised a plot to get rid of him. They sold him into slavery and lied… See Genesis 37. “He who leads the upright along an evil path will fall in his own trap.”

Throughout the Word of God you can see the difference when there was a godly king or ruler and when there was a wicked ruler! It is important to know the difference. Things are not always as they appear. It is important that you have someone to pray with; that you are on one accord. When your desire is for the Lord's will to be done in both of your lives the presence of the Lord is unexplainable. Never compromise God's principles in order to be accepted by man. It is wonderful and truly a blessing when you and your spouse share a mutual love for the LORD! There is power whentwo are three are gathered in His Name.”

You realize that “you are in the world, but not of the world.” Together you seek His will and His way. It is important to know that in these last days there is much to pull you away from the Lord! Many will betray you in order to win the acceptance of ungodly people… We must sometimesHide in the shadow of the Almighty.” Jesus Christ is the “King of Kings!” He is Sovereign and Supreme! Even when things are not going well you can still “Rejoice” in Him knowing it is but for a season! “When the righteous triumph, there is great elation; but when the wicked rise to power, men go in hiding.”

Sin & Confession

Sin is anything that separates you from the Lord! When you truly love the Lord you do not want anything to come between your relationship with Him! Your conscience becomes sensitive to sin! You desire to live to please Him! Therefore you do not seek to compromise His principles in order to be accepted! When you are in error you readily confess to Him and seek His forgiveness.

What is so wonderful about God is; He knows our hearts! There is an unexplainable contentment that few understand when you have a heart for the Lord! You must learn how to guard your heart; there are those who seek to undermine your honorable intentions. Much spiritual warfare is all about us! God never tempts us to do anything! This is why discernment is so important!

When you are sincere you are sensitive to Truth! When you make a mistake you realize that you cannot learn from it when you do not admit you are wrong. Never let pride hinder you from seeing the error of your ways! Readily confess any wrong so it is not able to fester and take root. Confession is good for the soul! Repentance should be welcomed! “Repentance does not mean repeating. Repentance is turning to God!” God is Faithful! His presence in your life changes you; you cannot remain the same! His mercy endures for ever… He who conceals his sin does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.”

Importance of Fearing God

Fearing the Lord is wise! It is what makes you cautious, considerate and wise! Not in the eyes of man but in the eyes of God! The wisdom of God is foolishness to man. You do not fear Him as one fears a person. You love, honor and respect Him and do not want to be separated by any sin. Sin is what separates you from God! You relish living in His presence. There is a deep inner abiding peace that the Lord provides that surpasses the understanding of man that is invaluable.

Many today do not see the value in listening to the Lord! They listen to the world and embrace its principles in lieu of listening to God! What is so wonderful about God is He allows you the freedom to choose! We can learn many lessons from these Proverbs as well as throughout the Word of God! Opposed to what is often said; experience is not always the best teacher. We can learn from the mistakes of others! The Word of God has a plethora of examples to teach us "Life Lessons." We all need a Savior!

When the children of Israel were in Egypt the Lord sent Moses to deliver them. Moses returned to Egypt out of fear and obedience to the Lord. He told the Pharaoh that the Lord saidTo let my people go…” The Pharaoh’s heart was hardened over and over before he finally allowed them to leave. Here is a wonderful story that illustrates what happens when one's heart is hardened. See Exodus 5. “Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, but he who hardens his heart will fall into trouble.”

GODLY and the wicked

Here in these Proverbs we can see the benefits of living a godly life. We can see what happens when a ruler sets aside godly principles. God intends for our lives to center around HIM! He has a purpose and a plan for each of us. We are to seek HIM above all else! Here Solomon shares the fallacy of turning away from the Lord. He being the wisest man to ever lives shares with us the pitfalls and perils of walking contrary to the Word of God!

Wickedness is all about us in this 21st century! This is why it is so important to seek the Lord and spend time in His Word! Many have forsaken the way of the Lord. God is not slack or unaware… Never underestimate the Power of the Lord. Even in the midst of these challenging times it is important to trust God! There is always HOPE in the Lord!!! In HIm you can find "Security and Significance!"

Wherever you are in this world, and whatever you may be going through God is totally aware! Thank God for Jesus! The Word of God is being fulfilled! Jesus Christ is coming back for His Church! God gave Jesus authority over Heaven and earth! We are told to share with others the goodness of “The Gospel!” When you confess your sins, accept the Lord into your heart His Holy Spirit comes to live within you! Your body then becomes a temple! Each day it is important to pray and ask the Lord to fill you with His Spirit!

Although you may be in a place, apartment, home, school, prison, palace, city, town, state or country where wickedness is persistent you can rise above it. Seek refuge in the Lord wherever you are! It is so very important to KNOW His Word personally and implement it in your daily life! This is why you need a Savior! He then becomes your personal Savior, Spiritual Ruler and King! His Holy Spirit becomes your internal Comforter and Guide! Confess any sin that separates you from Him and readily and sincerely repent! As He comes alive in your heart you can overcome; even in the midst of oppression, mistreatment, suffering, sickness or injustices you will blossom and grow spiritually! When Jesus Christ is your Savior and Lord in Him you have the Victory!

This Proverbs concludes by telling us: “When the wicked rise to power, people go into hiding; but when the wicked perish, the righteous thrive.

The proverbs are a wealth of information on human behavior and the consequences thereof. The proverbs gives great understanding and discernment is figuring out what a person is really all about. That was was the gift Solomon had, and he discerned that by behavior and their words. So he had a great eye for watching people and a good listener.

Rev Lady, God’s Word is marvelous! It is like no other. In it we can learn so much!

Spending time with the Lord provides much insight to the mind as well as wise counsel. It is here the essence of life resides and the key to our well being. It is not received as well as secular counseling… God knows the intents of our hearts and when it is our desire to please Him I believe He will reveal many things to us. We are transparent to the Lord. He will guide you when you submit to Him. It is a wonderful experience and motivates us to share the goodness of the Lord!

It is important that we learn to relate to His “Word” as it is ALIVE! The people and situations are true and can teach us much…

We also must be ever mindful of the world’s constant spiritual warfare to pull us away from Him as our center. Thank God for His Holy Spirit!

Thank you for sharing your spiritual insight! We are on one accord here! I am thankful to the Lord that you can see where I am coming from. I am humbled by your kind words... It is a Blessing as well as confirmation. May Our Father richly Bless you as you draw others closer to Him. May His favor rest uoon you! In HIS service, Love & Peace & Blessings!

“Man looks on the outside! But God looks at the heart.”

Never let anyone pull you so low that you resort to hate.

This was a inspirational read. Thank you. I often get down on myself for having to had change the way I do things in my life that mostly resulted in pulling away from people that I love but had took me down a path that caused a lot of trouble in my life.

I don't blame them for the choices I made but feel blamed for not wanting to 'do' that life anymore. I often feel like I am being judged and called a hypocrite because I have been down those roads before and because of them my eyes were opened and I chose not to do it again.

In a lot of ways, doing what is right doesn't always feel the best especially when you know that it hurts others as well but for most of my life I let others decide for me or I did things to please other people and it wasn't util I started wanted to make myself happy and content that I could tell that I wasn't in their best interest... what I needed to make me better but I was always to make them better.

Though not physically sick, the struggles I feel every day make me wish for a physical ailment so I could give someone an excuse to let me heal and then they would understand.

And though always believing in God, I understood Jesus best, understood myself better and appreciate more the life I was given.

Sandra Rinck, AMEN! That is a very important passage of Scripture! No matter how hard you try there are those who will always misunderstand… When you KNOW the LORD knows your heart it frees you. It is much easier to live to please HIM!

So glad you are inspired! There is absolutely nothing in your life that GOD is not aware of! He LOVES you because HE is LOVE! It is in your personal relationship with HIM you learn to love properly!

Love is longsuffering sometimes you do have to pull away from those you love. (little time for foolishness) When you are lost do you not seek direction to get on the right path? The path that leads to God is narrow…. God allows us the Freedom to choose His will and way! Therefore we give others the same opportunity...

“In a lot of ways, doing what is right doesn't always feel the best especially when you know that it hurts others… “ So true! Just know at some point if they are truly seeking they will discover that same path… It can be painful separating but we must “Seek ye first HIS kingdom and HIS righteousness…” Continue to let HIS LIGHT shine through you! This points the way for them...

There is an unexplainable contentment that comes from truly knowing the Lord it grows as we TRUST HIM! Understanding comes from God! He totally understands you… Know in HIS time He will work everything out for your good… Continue to keep Him your focus…

Thank you so much for sharing your heart! I have been blessed by your comments as well! GOD truly is AWESOME! In HIS Love, Peace, Joy & Blessings!

"Ask for whatever you want me to give you.” as you quoted from I KIngs 3 is a very striking verse to me. If God could give this opportunity to King Solomon then I am pretty sure, He could also give to those who deserve so.

Thanks for this inspiring hub!

Sin does separate us, and clouds our judgement. For so many years, I was blinded to the fact....that harboring resentment and bitterness towards those who have harmed me in some way, was justified. It was brought to my attention, that resentment and bitterness is a sin, and as long as I was harboring these feelings, I wasn't able to have a good communitcation with God. When I was able myself to ask God's forgiveness and that He would give me the ability to forgive those certain people. I was so free'd:) He did answer my prayer:) Thank you Deborrah! Nice Hub:)

Thanks - There's a lot you pointed out in this Hub. (I've missed a few, hope to catch up with them). It ministered a lot to me, particularly Fearing God.

On the issue of Wisdom. Solomon was the wisest man. Who do you personally think was the wisest woman in the Bible? I'm thinking Esther or Deborah, but it would be intersting to know your thoughts.

Thanks and have a Blessed Week.

Happy 4th July. :)

Lady E, You are quite welcome! The Proverbs truly are an endless source of wisdom. This is why I recommend reading one a day! Each time you can learn something new… Fearing God is foremost important! It is here our true security and significance resides…

I am always glad to hear from you! Your comments are always welcomed!

Hmmm, off the cuff… I think there are many wise woman in the Bible to name a few: Hannah, Jael, Mary, Lydia, Dorcas, Priscilla wife of Aquila, Phoebe… The two you named are most brave and wise as well. Esther and Deborah were both brilliant women in their own way! I tend to lean toward Deborah my namesake she knew that she was stepping into a realm that would cause persecution but she obeyed the Lord anyway! She had a great trusting relationship with the Lord! She was not power hungry and it was her desire to live for the Lord! As a prophetess, wife, mediator, advisor, leader and servant of the Lord. She demonstrates the Lord’s order and honored the Lord in such a powerful way, as well as respected her husband…

Thank you for sharing! Much Love in HIS, Peace, Joy & Blessings!

HAVE A BLESSED WEEK AS WELL!!!

DeBorrah, it is amazing how His word can get twisted by so many. Like you say, overcome evil with good - but when they call evil good and good evil, the whole sense of overcoming evil with good takes on a whole different concept. To be pleasing to the Lord, doesn't always mean being pleasing to man. To be just, one must love the truth more than life itself, for in truth we find eternal life. If sin keeps us from that eternal life, then confession truly is our release - the truth shall set us free. And justice after all is about arriving at the truth after lies have clouded up the scene. Peace.

DeBorrah,It is always enlightening to read your work. You have a gift for teaching Gods word in the way The Holy Spirit leads.

"Wickedness is all about us in this 21st century! This is why it is so important to seek the Lord and spend time in His Word! Many have forsaken the way of the Lord. God is not slack or unaware… Never underestimate the Power of the Lord. Even in the midst of these challenging times it is important to trust God"

How true are these words. We need to trust Him more in these times as the world collapses all around us. Our heart toward Him should be an attitude of gratitude so we can say as did Job.

"Yet will i trust Thee"

May God Bless You Abundantly.

Solomon had to have been wise not to get killed or die trying to please all those women. In my opinion Solomon was not wise when it came to marriage but in everything else it seemed God opened the heavens to give him knowledge. Does it strike you as odd that he was so smart in everything because God gave him insight but then flubbed up so bad with so many partners? I believe that God DID give him insight which he chose to ignore but I guess I won't know if I'm right until I get to heaven and meet him personally. Love you DeB.

Nobody, Solomon was indeed wise! But he also shows us that it is possible to lay wisdom aside and do your "own thing." This is why we NEED JESUS so... To save us from the power of sin reigning in our lives!

It is evident in Solomon that despite having every possible concievable material blessing there was a void. It is important that we give the Lord His place in our lives to KEEP us on the NARROW ROAD! I agreee that he ignored the wisdom God gave Him in regards to His partners... Yes it is when we enter heaven we will know... Thank God for JESUS! HE is the WAY!

Thank you Bob for stopping by to share! May the Lord continue to Strengthen you and Keep you in HIS Love, Joy & Peace!
