Life Before The Garden of Eden

In the beginning - Heavenly Council

We lived before we were born.

To Abraham, God showed him the "intelligences that were organized before the world was; and among all these there were many of the noble and great ones;

And God saw these souls that they were good, and He stood in the midst of them, and He said: These I will make my rulers; for he stood among those that were spirits," Abraham 3:22. He is talking about us, you and me!

ALL humans lived as spirit children of Heavenly parentage created in the image of God the Father. Our lives extend beyond eternity because we lived with God as spirits for eternity learning to become like He is and maturing to a point where He could send us to progress more on earth.

God the Father called a council of all of His children, which included all of us. In this council, God presented His plan for our continued learning and development. He introduced the entire plan called the Plan of Happiness or the Plan of Salvation which included the provision for each of His Children to have a mortal body, a rescue from mortality or savior, and the ability to live eternally with all that God possess.

We all agreed to this plan. Jesus Christ, who we knew as Jehovah before He was born, was to be the executor of this plan. Adam, known as Michael in the pre-mortal life, would introduce physical bodies and death. Jesus would provide salvation from spiritual death (separation from God) and resurrection from death.

Modern revelation reveals that in this august council of the children of God, Jehovah announced, speaking to those who were with Him and appointed to do the work--such as Adam and many others, that

We will go down, for there is space there, and we will take of these materials, and we will make an earth whereon these {referring to all of us] may dwell; And we will prove them herewith, to see if they will do all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them... Abraham 3:24-25

Points to Ponder

The Plan of Salvation

  1. Gain a Physical Body
  2. Have a Savior from Sin
  3. Gain Eternal Life

Jesus is Jehovah

Jehovah is the first of all spirits of Heavenly Father and was ordained as our Savior and our Lord aside from being our brother because of His progression spiritually.

He also was ordained as the Father of our salvation because of the suffering He would endure spiritually and physically as a part of His mission in the Plan of Salvation in partnership with Adam.

Jehovah was chosen from the beginning to be born as Jesus Christ, the son of God in spirit and mortality.

Jehovah received the glory of God as a spirit by His obedience and learning. He patiently listened to the will of God the Father and obeyed; therefore, He gaining His salvation and glory in the spirit.

He became so adept at following the will of God and executing it that God the Father made Jehovah the word of His power.

All things are subjected to Jehovah because Jehovah loves all things and all things love Him. The word of power God the Father used was love.

Jehovah, Jesus, is love. Because all creation loves their Creator they obey. All things have perfect trust that Jehovah, like The Father, will do justly at all times; so, all things, all elements trust and obey Him.

Jehovah Explained The Plan of Salvation

Jehovah explained that He would pay the price for Michael's, Adam's transgression that would occur and for all of our sins.

In other words, He would satisfy the rift caused by sin and Adam's transgression that would occur in the Garden of Eden. He explained that resurrection, a reuniting of body and spirit, would be free to all of us after death (separating of mortal body and spirit). And He instructed that forgiveness of our sins would be conditional to our repentance and forgiveness.

Jehovah informed us as pre-mortal and glorious beings that on earth, we would be made to forget our associations in heaven as a part of the plan of God the Father so that we could have a fair chance to choose God without the memory of our glorious home clouding our agency, to show that we are worthy of receiving His glory.

Remember, the glory of God is love--a perfect love that causes all the elements of creation to worship and love Him. God the Father and Jehovah wants us to have this same glory as do they. God, the Father of us all, desires that all of His obedient children to have His standard of living and His power!

In order to truly qualify for this glory, we had to do so by forgetting our lives as spirits. This forgetting would give us the right to choose between good and evil on our own experience in mortality.

It is important to note that none are free of this veil of forgetting. Even Jehovah experienced it after his birth and had to learn by experience who He is and His purpose before He could carry out His mission in life. Of His youth, it is recorded that "Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man" (Luke 2:52); and "waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him" (Luke 2:40).

As an active participant in the plan Himself, Jehovah informed us that in choosing the good in mortal life and obeying Gods commands, we would receive the glory of God. He explained that Michael would introduce mortal life, death and sin, to all of us and He, Jesus Christ, would introduce eternal life, resurrection and forgiveness to us. Our experience was to be a testing ground for our natures to see if we have the ability to rise to the level of joint-heirs with Him and the Father since we could not do it in our then spiritual state.

Jehovah also revealed that some of us would not choose the good part and would be lost forever. Those, who did not choose to follow God in mortality, would still be resurrected, but they would not receive The Father's glory and a place would be prepared for them in which to dwell.

God the Father Allows Free Thought

God the Father knew that all of us would not accept the plan of happiness presented at the council of spirits. He knew that some would rebel against going to Earth under the plan and would not partake of the further instruction Earth life would provide; yet, He allowed events to transpire in heaven according to our desires.

The largest portion of our training in heaven was to accept the plan for mortality on earth and keep our first estate or test. In other words, we graduated to earth life from the spirit life on our way to become more like God the Father. God revealed to Abraham that "they who keep their first estate (pass the first test) shall be added upon;

God revealed to Abraham that "they who keep their first estate (pass the first test) shall be added upon; and they who keep not their first estate shall not have glory in the same kingdom with those who keep their first estate; and they who keep their second estate shall have glory added upon their heads

"And they who keep their second estate shall have glory added upon their heads for ever and ever," Abraham 3:26. Passing from mortal life to a place in the Kingdom of God as joint-heirs with Christ would be keeping our second estate.

Lucifer Opposed the Plan

Lucifer did not approve of any of us failing to return to our celestial home with God. He thought it unfair that any of us could possibly never!! return to heaven.

It was a risk going to earth through a veil of forgetting and not worth the plan Jehovah presented on The Father's Behalf. He swore that he could bring us all back into the presence of God if the Father gave him the Glory immediately!

He desired the power of God the Father and was jealous of Jehovah who had progressed to be the foremost among us, even like God the Father.

Lucifer had not attained a glory similar to Jehovah. He was one of many Sons of the Morning, a noble and influential position. Lucifer was a very influential person who sought the admiration of his fellows and the power that came along with it. Power was his ambition and desire from the beginning.

Because all creation loves their creator, they obey Him, even Jesus Christ. Lucifer did not have this type of influence or love over the elements.

God willingly would give him the power as He willingly would to all who kept His commandments. Lucifer did not want to risk forgetting his life in heaven and failing to return. He deceived himself from the beginning assuming that God would give him His glory--He couldn't give Lucifer His experiences and love. Lucifer did not want to put forward the effort to attain perfection as did Christ, he just wanted the power without the mastery and the glory-- without the love!

Lucifer's Heavenly Handout

God the Father had given us agency to choose to follow Him from the beginning and would not take away our choice to do so. Under Lucifer's idea, which was a lie and impossibility from the beginning, mankind would have no choice but to follow God. We would be led about without agency in mortality and ushered back to God the Father no better or worse for their experience.

Lucifer had appeal, but no real plan. As in the vision of Lehi of the great a spacious building with no foundation, Lucifer had no foundation upon which to build his words, which is why he fell. Jesus's foundation was the love of God, His love. Lucifer did not want to risk the possibility of not returning to the glorious heavenly place as stated before. God the Father heard Lucifer's plan and rejected that alternative to His original idea to have us choose our own path--as had been done from the beginning.

Lucifer's attempt to usurp power was thwarted and the council continued. Lucifer a son of the morning as many spirits were, hoped to obtain more glory than he was ready to obtain. Instead of obtaining The Father's glory by grace from glory to glory, he wanted it handed to him!

Understanding the Plan and Creation

Jehovah, referred to by His resurrected name of Jesus Christ from this point forward, is the first spirit child Heavenly Father created and the greatest one of all of us. He is a part of the Godhead, or counsel of Three who we call God--God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost.

Jesus Christ under the direction of Heavenly Father created the heavens and the earth. He created the bodies of Adam and Eve. He created all things. Gender is predetermined as we were either male spirits or female spirits from creation. God created male and female in the beginning spiritually before He did so physically as He did everything. Again, all things were created spiritually first, hence two creations--one was a spiritual creation and then the physical creation. God the Father created our spirits. The Father is already supreme and He desires to share. He provided a plan and a savior to help execute that plan, Jesus Christ.

Following the instructions of Heavenly Father, and ending any idea that Lucifer's assertion bore any sway, Jesus Christ stated "We will go down, for there is space there, and we will take of these materials, and we will make an earth whereon these (referring to all of us) may dwell; and we will prove them herewith, to see if they will do all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them..(Abraham 3:24-25).

Jesus spoke of His partner, Michael, who would be one part of the plan of salvation.

Eve is our great mother. I am not familiar with her pre-mortal name, but she was just as righteous and worthy as was her husband Adam before she became a mortal. Her body was created in the image of God. She understood her role in the plan as the mother of humankind before she accepted the responsibility.

Adam is our great father, called Michael as mentioned before. He and others assisted under the direction of Jesus Christ in the creation of this earth. It is logical that Adam would help create the earth that he would soon populate with his progeny. He and Eve are partners in the plan to bring the souls of men to God the Father with Jesus Christ. Adam understood that he and Eve needed to produce the bodies of men so that mortal life could begin.

The Plan of Salvation is a path to becoming one with the universe and love of all things. The plan is that each child of God will have the opportunity to experience good and evil and choose which path to follow. The choices we make here in this life determine how we will spend the remainder of eternity.

So That You Know

The reason I mention certain concepts repeatedly is to help you, the reader, keep in mind the importance of that concept.

The diagram above provides a visual of the plan presented to the council. The plan is that we are born on earth as mortals with no memory of the life with Heavenly Father. The reason why we have no memory is to give us an honest opportunity to experience life and make decisions based on our experience as mentioned earlier.

Seek the Truth

On earth, God wants us to find the truth and live according to its principles--the truths of science and religion are what He wants us to discover. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the Truth that He wants us to live, but there exists many systems of belief that we must filter through. We are expected to experience pain, hurt, hunger, bitterness, happiness, joy and all other joys and challenges we as spirits could only experience on earth in mortal bodies. This experience on Earth helps us to understand what God understands. The idea is to go through these things and still choose to be like Heavenly Father.

All Humans Benefit From Christ's Atonement

After earth life, or death, we are separated according to the choices and promises we made during life. Our bodies go to the grave and our spirits go to the Spirit World. Some go to Heaven or Paradise, and others go to Hell or Spirit Prison. Those who followed Christ will go to Paradise until the resurrection.

The people who did not know of Christ or were deceived by the teachings of the world will be introduced to the gospel in the spirit world and "for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit." 1 Peter 4:6 All people will have a fair opportunity to hear and accept the gospel of Christ.

Gift to All

Resurrection will come to every person born on earth whether we are good or evil. It is a free gift to all by the grace of Jesus Christ and His resurrection.

Following the resurrection will be a judgement for our eternal mansions. "In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you" (John 14:2) instructed Jesus to His disciples.

Those of us who inherit jointly with Christ will dwell with the Father in Celestial mansions. From there the mansions decrease in glory to terrestrial and telestial mansions. For the remainder of humanity, outer darkness is the destination where there are no mansions and the devil and his angels dwell.

In God's plan, all people will receive a just reward and eternity is more than harps, clouds, and singing.

Points to Remember

  • God provided a plan for us to be happy which he presented to us in a council in Heaven before we were born.
  • Jesus is the Savior in that plan and was chosen from the beginning to execute it.
  • Adam and Eve are to be the creators of humanity and partners with Christ in the plan.
  • Lucifer did not like the plan and rebelled against it, lost in the first battle and is now on earth trying to tempt mankind away from this plan.
  • Jesus is our brother and we are all brothers and sisters spiritually

It is also important for us to remember that the war which commenced in heaven will not end until the great battle of Gog and Magog spoken of in Revelations and the devil and his angels are cast into outer darkness,

A War In Heaven that Rages

After the creation of the earth, Lucifer rebelled against God the Father and Jesus Christ. Michael, fought against Lucifer, the dragon as he became known, and his angels. Unaware to Lucifer, he fit himself perfectly into the plan by becoming the poster child for opposition.

Evil is as eternal as God and exists with or without a devil to tempt people. With choice comes the ability to choose to be evil. Our brother chose to follow pride and selfishness. His choice made him the leader of such behavior and an enemy to all that is good. God represents all that is good. Lucifer became the enemy to his Father.

Following the council, Lucifer or Satan in his fallen name, used his influence, fear, and deceit to convince one-third of us to follow him. One-third of the host of heaven sided with Satan out of fear of not returning to Father. Father sent Michael, the chief general of the armies of Jesus Christ to settle the dispute.

Of course, facing the champion of the plan that God instituted, Michael, did not curb the desire for Satan to win the spirits of heaven to his doomed cause. With the support he garnered of those of us who followed his thinking, he surely began to believe his illegitimate plan could work--that he could ascend the throne of God and rule over the sons of heaven!

A war commenced between Michael and his angels, us; and Satan and his angels. At LEAST one-third of the spirits of men supported Father in His effort to continue with the risk of not returning to Him. At least a third the spirits in heaven agreed that to become like Father was worth the risk of forgetting so that our choices would be based on our true desires for righteousness and not based on what we had left. Every person ever born and will be born agreed to follow Jesus Christ and accept the plan. We, all humans ever born or ever will be born, come from the group that kept its first estate.

The great lie that Satan told his followers is that if they won, their plan would be supreme. Satan had no sanction from Father for his plan. There never existed an alternative to the Plan of Salvation, and there was no contest to prove which one was best. Satan had deceived himself and one-third of our brothers and sisters with enough pride and selfishness in him to refuse to yield to Michael.

With the authority of Jesus Christ and by the command of Heavenly Father, we thrust them out of heaven and cast them down to the earth that was created for our mortality. A civil war in heaven, between brothers and sisters--the power of Christ over the deception of Satan--started that has yet to cease.

There is no scripture being stretched here. The burden of proof we be on you to produce it. I base my views not only on the scriptures but on continuing revelation. It is fine that you do not agree but I can claim any person's beliefs intercultural by your standard with backing it up with specific reference. You can find that at many sites on the web--things that give long lists of scriptures. I do not do it on principle since I abhor 're as ding lo g scriptural lists. You may go www.lds.org for official teachings. Here, I provide my understanding of things.

Well you are entitled to your opinion. But scripturally you are not free to try to teach them as Christian if they cannot be proven with scripture without receiving correction.

You are correct this a Christian and Jesus place. Not fairy tale central. There are headings here for fiction. God says we are to follow what he says not what anyone thinks.

There is no scripture that says teach what you believe. In fact the scriptures say the opposite, they say to test all things to see if they be of God. Which I have and this fails. Paul said if ANYONE brings you a gospel other than the Gospel of Jesus Christ that he taught that they are not of God and avoid them.

If you insist on writing things such as this that cannot be backed up with scripture on here then I suggest you preface your writings with a disclaimer "This is only my opinion not scripture" at the beginning.

Thank you for reading this work, whether you believe in it or not. I believe it and that is what matters for me. I am not saying that it is accurate beyond reason. I am open to truth from where ever it may come about many things.

I do know that God lives and that he has a plan for us, I will not budge on something I know. I do know I live before I was born and so did we all. I know that . I know that Jesus is the Christ and that God is the Father.

I believe many things based on association to the point where I would say I know them. I believe that Satan wants to be God the father to the point where he wants many people here to worship him in the form of wealth and physical pleasure. I believe Adam and Eve are the creators of humanity.

I have strong opinions or regular beliefs that may change with academic research or further revelation clarifying such as did Adam and Eve have belly buttons, I believe they do.

I have opinions which can change rather easily if I am convinced such as whether God intend the Bible to only have its present contents. I think he did make preparation for the Bible to be limited as it is on purpose. If someone gives me a good argument to the contrary I will change what I think.

Of all that is written, is it all a work of fiction to you? and Celafoe, this is a Christian and Jesus place, I am just one of 2 Billion Christians on this planet and my view just differ from yours.

Thanks for commenting and reading my article. I do not have facts, just beliefs and opinions. I understand what you mean by adding to the world of God. Your interpretation of it is very personal when the scripture in Revelations only refer to that specific book and not even the entire Bible. The Bible did not exist when Revelations was being written by John.

I do agree that people who teach for doctrine false things will answer to God in more than just a plague or calamity. It is eternity that is really scary and not a trial that will last a short while. Suffering for eternity is much more a terror than the terrors of this life only. I don't want either, but I fear being without God for eternity.

I share what I believe here about Adam and Eve's experience. In the long-run, it only matter what I know about God and his plan for my eternal happiness. I would never add to the condition of salvation with the intent of deception, Only through Christ are we saved as in Adam we die. I hope you give my other articles a try.

I like your hub, I am just a bit confused about it.

I do however believe you would not write this article without facts.

I believe that if you have added falsely to anything it would be great punishment from God.

God himself said.......those who add to my words will suffer the plagues I speak about in this book.

There is one thing I would like to know, how is that you know that Adams name was Michael

thank you

If you want to leave a comment make it constructive. The above comment is an example of what not to do. If there is something misleading, point it out so that it can be corrected. That would be the sensible thing to do, resty

This is really misleading especially to those people who are not studying the word of God. I hope the author will try to examine his position on heavenly council.

Flpalermo, you are correct. The Bible was written by men inspired of God. I listen to men inspired by God. Yes, you are right.

I listen to inspired men and women. I also listen to God himself, don't for get that I said that.

Please brother, the Bible has been a source of truth for me my whole life. I have other texts that support the words in that collection of books. I was converted to Christ by the Book of Mormon. I will not deny any scripture for it is all given by the spirit of revelation for the testimony of Jesus and the witness of his resurrection.

In other words, the Holy Bible is not your only source of Gods's revelation to mankind. Other men are.

Flpalermo, I put a disclaimer in the beginning. My intention was not to convince people of anything they do not want to believe but to share my beliefs. I have never convince anyone to believe what I believe--even as a missionary for two years in South Africa. People believe what they want after I share what I will. It is up to God to do the convincing. After all, they are His truths and we are His children.

I do expect people to read my hub and if they agree with it vote it up and leave a comment. If you do not agree with it you vote it down and leave a comment like you did--not saying that you voted it down but I would expect you have done so.

I do support my my ideology with Scripture, I just do not see the need to post it after every claim. You are welcome to go to LDS.org to find out teachings that have references. I believe is you are earnestly looking for the truth, you will put the work in finding out about it.

I know many things and I allow those things to stand on their own merit because I am not charged to teach anyone right now save my seven children. God may send me to teach other, but he has not yet. I know the Holy Spirit testifies of truth.

I would never just quote from the Bible alone when I know that there are other Scriptures like The Pearl of Great Price and Doctrine and Covenants which explain it so much better than the Bible. I am fortunate to have many books that testify of Christ that are just as sacred to me as the Bible. My FAVORITE book is the Book of Mormon. It converted me to Christ. I eventually prayed about the Bible and received a witness that it was the word of God also.

I suggest you read The Book of Mormon and pray to God if it is also scripture. I already read the Bible so your suggestion was not necessary.

Not a single scriptural reference to support YOUR ideology. A lawyer in court could never use this article to convince or persuade anyone to your belief. Had you quoted the Holy Bible to support YOUR points, you could have a chance. I suggest YOU study the Bible yourself without accepting avery story you hear in the churches of this world. This knowledge is "...revealed unto us by His Spirit, for the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God..." (1Corinthians 2:10)
