Precepts of the Blessed Hope by Don mills : A Great Book On Pre-Tribulation Rapture
This is one of the great blessings I received from God for the year 2010, to receive a copy of the book “Precepts of the Blessed Hope” from the author himself, Don Mills
This book “Precepts of the Blessed Hope “ presents a comprehensive biblical evidences supporting and strengthening the position of a pre-tribulation rapture.. I am a firm believer of a pre-tribulation rapture, that’s why the book has been a source of my encouragement to remain firm in my biblical stand that the rapture of the church will happen before the tribulation. In this book I present some major highjlights of the book that is crucial in strengthening its position.
This chapter presents certain “Types” found in the Bible that has relevance to the church of JesusChrist. Types and the precepts they reveal are found throughout God’s Word. According to the author of the book Don Mills, “Types” are there to help illuminate deep Bible truths that unbelievers wont really understand, but they are mainly for believers to meditate upon, to see the deeper things of God revealed. According to him, exploring the types throughout the Bible, we can see many Bible precepts once hidden from us. He furtherly contends that types in the Bible are “ a shadow of good things to come and not the very image of the things.”
In this segment, Don mIlls reveals the “types” in the Bible that implies pre-tribulatioon view of the rapture. One such type presented is Joseph’s marriage to Asenath (A Gentile bride) prior to the seven years of famine. Joseph represents Christ while his Gentile bride Asenath represnts the church which is merely of the Gentile race and the seven years famine represents the seven-year Tribulation period.. Joseph’s marriage to Asenath prior to the seven-year famine reveals Christ will take away His bride, the Church before the seven-year Tribulation period.
This type, Joseph marriage to his Gentile bride Asenath before the seven-year famine is a very strong implication of a Pre-Tribulation Rapture.. It cannot be simply dispelled or ignored for Joseph is a type of “ Christ.”
Why Joseph is a type of Christ ?
- Joseph was a shepherd as Christ is the Good Shepherd.
(Genesis 37:2, John 10:11)
* Both Joseph and Christ were thirty years of age when they began their ministries.
(Genesis 4:46, Luke 3:22)
* Joseph was beloved son of his father and Jesus is the beloved Son of the Father
(Genesis 37:3, Matthew 3:12)
- Joseph was sent to his brethren as Jesus came to his own and his own received
him not . ( Geneis 37: 13-14, John 1:11)
* Joseph’s brethren refused and hated him as Jesus was hated without a cause.
(Genesis 37:8, 18-24, John 15:25)
- Joseph was envied by his brethren as the chief priests delivered Jesus for envy..
(Genesis 37:11, Mark 15:10)
- Joseph was sold by his brethren as Jesus was sold by his disciple Judas.
(Genesis 37:27- 28, Matthew 26:15)
- They conspired against Joseph to slay him. The Jews took council against Jesus
To put him to death. (Genesis 37:18, John 11:53)
- Joseph was innocent but was accused and condemned as Jesus was falsely
condemned to death. (Genesis 39:13-14,20, Matthew 26: 59-60, 65-66)
- Joseph and Jesus were both silent before their accusers.
(Genesis 39:20, Mark 15:4-5)
- Joseph was resurrected from prison, then exalted in Egypt with Pharaoh. So Jesus
was resurrected from the grave and was exalted with the Father. (Genesis 41:40-42, Hebrews 8:1, 12:2).
- Joseph had all things put into his hand as Jesus was given all things into his hand.
(Genesis 39:4, John 3:35)
- Joseph on the throne of Pharaoh became the provider of bread to starving Egypt.
So Jesus on his Father’s throne is the “Bread of Life.”
(Genesis 41:57, John 6:33, 35, 48, 51).
These are just some of the parallelisms between Christ and Joseph as revealed by the author Don Mills in his book.
Joseph as a type of Christ cannot be simply dispelled so his marriage to a Gentile bride prior to the seven-year famine. This “Type” is one of the strongest biblical implication of a “Pre-Tribulation Rapture.” Seeing this clearly brings great delight in my heart to remain firm in my pre-tribulation rapture stand. Truly the “rapture” is a believer’s “Blessed Hope.”
Understanding the “types” presented throughout the scripture will help you gain a better way to interpret Biblical prophecies. This has been an eye opener to me. The book “Precepts of the Blessed Hope” is a great wealth of Biblical information supporting “Pre-Tribulation rapture.” It sheds light on some obscure issues in biblical prophecies not readily revealed to the majority of Bible readers. It contains eleven chapters which presents vital biblical truths regarding some future things to come. It clarifies certain issues in the Bible that has been obscure for many years. It sheds great light on the following subjects :
- The Church Age
- The Martyred Saints
- Jesus as the Son of Man
- The Elect in the Tribulation
- The Apocalyptic Sayings of Jesus
- The Parable of the Ten Virgins
- Israel’s EarthlyKingdom
- The Old Testament Saints
- The Gospel of John.
The book contains rich and great revelations about the bride of Christ which is the church of JesusChrist and the nation Israel. The author asserts that God has a distinct plan for the nation Israel, different plan He has for the church. As a student of prophecy the book has been a great help to me to understand biblical prophecies better. I have not yet encountered any book before that strengthen the position of a “Pre-Tribulation Rapture” as was presented by the book “Precepts of the Blessed Hope.”
