Sacrifice that truly honors God
I trust in You O Lord
Thankfulness truly honors God
Are you trying to find ways to please God and truly honors him? We offer lots of sacrifices to God in any form. But what is really acceptable and pleasing to God? Psalm 50 verses 14-15 say “Make thankfulness your sacrifice and keep the vows you made to the Most High. Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory."
Wow! I was so blessed when I read these verses! It is very easy then to please God. Just say thank you Lord. But can you say thank you God in all incidents of your life? You might say... Yes! I can! That is great! I admire you if you can really say that. But what if you lose your job, or failed in an exam that would give you way for a job? I don't know about you, but as for me, I experienced the most difficult time when I expected an answer to my prayer and got nothing. At least that is what I thought. But I was reminded of the scriptures about giving thanks to God is a sacrifice that truly honors him. (Psalm 50:22).
I then realized that I have so much to thank God for. I failed in my exam, but that is not the end of my life. God has a better plan for me. And even if I will still fail the next time, still I will thank my God for all the things that he has done in my life. I remember when I got the bad news not passing my exam, I cried out to God. Asking him why??? Where did I go wrong? It was so painful. But when I opened the bible I was confronted with the words of God. As if he was really talking to me directly in James 1: 2- 4 where it says, " Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing."
I cried again when I read this. I meditated on his word. I should know better that the enemy is just trying to shake me up in my faith so that I will not be able to honor God and glorify his name. But I will say boldly that you do not have the power over me Satan! For the words of God will light my path and I will always rejoice in him no matter what the situation is. I will not stop praying and thanking him in all circumstances, for this is God's will for me who belong to Christ Jesus. (1 Thess. 5:16-18 NLT)
I strongly believe in the "Word" of God that those who really confidently trust in the Lord shall have a reward. Hebrews 10:35-36 says "So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patience and endurance are what you need now, so that you will continue to do God's will. The you will receive all that he has promised."
Our endurance in the Christian life will depend on:
* Endure by keeping our eyes on Jesus.
*Endure God's loving discpline. The Holy Bible says "My child, don't make light of the Lord's discipline, and don't give up when he corrects you. For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child."(Hebrews 12:5-6 NLT)
* Endure by rejecting a corrupt life. The Word of God says "Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord."(Heb. 12:14 NLT)
These are just a few things things that inspired me to go on believing and trusting completely in the Lord God Jesus. I will make a continual sacrifice of praise and thankfulness to God, proclaiming our allegiance to His name and don't forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God. (See Hebrew 13:15 NLT)
