Get Back In The Boat! - Sista' Devotions 365: When Life Seems Too Hectic To Stay Connected- Day 9

Get Back In The Boat!

Did you know that worry and doubt are sins? They are destructive twin devices meant to kill, steal and destroy your hope, your faith and your physical well being. Think about it... When you worry and doubt, the message that you are sending to God is that you don't trust Him to handle your problems. You are saying to the unbeliever, observing you in your time of challenge, that there is no hope for a positive resolution. To a great extent, you are even conveying the message that there is no God! You are also allowing “the twins” to keep you away from physical rest, wearing down your immune system and setting you up for physical illnesses that can ultimately destroy you. Your fellowship with worry and doubt can eventually be the very catalyst for your own downfall:

scripture:

Matthew 14:30-32 (NIV) Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" 31Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?" 32And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.

continued:

Like Peter, when we are in uncertain times we tend to make the mistake of looking to our left and right, seeing all of the obstacles and reasons why we should not reach our goals which invites those twin demons called worry and doubt. Both are assuredly from the enemy and they bring with them the unsteady winds of chaos. Both are designed to sway us to and forth, taking our focus away from God.

If this is not the path you want to travel on in life, nor the message that you want to convey, then stop worrying and doubting! Allow the Holy Spirit to calm, comfort and reassure you during those challenging times. Let your example of faith influence an unbeliever to draw closer to God as they are driven by the desire for that same grace and mercy that He provides for you. Know with 100% assurance that Jesus is right by your side, escorting you through to a desired end...you just have to keep your eyes fixed on Him and His will, staying disciplined enough to eliminate the distractions of worry and doubt. Declare out of your mouth today that Jesus is your portion, you shall not want for anything and confess that God's grace is sufficient to handle any need that you have or will ever have. Today, get back in the boat with the Savior and experience the calming winds of His blessed assurance all the way to your destiny.

Prayer:

Lord God, for the sins of worry and doubt, I ask your forgiveness. I express sorrow for my poor example, especially if that  example has caused someone to doubt you, your ability and your existence. From today, when the enemy tries to throw doubt leading to worry my way I will cast it down and declare that You are more than able. You are Jehovah Jirrah and able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that I can ever ask or think. Worry and doubt will no longer be entertained in my life... in Jesus name... Amen.

Praise Him through your trials...

Thank you James...I really appreciate you saying so. I try to just let God lead me with the words...I supposed someone is meant to hear them and as long as He tells me to do so...I'll just follow His lead.
