Some elevating philosophical thoughts!
Love All, Serve All.
Aim of Philosophy!
Philosophy is common to all people. These thoughts elevate any one provided he had an inclination and faith in philosophy. They are like common Truths about life and living. When we are ill, we go to a Doctor. When we are hungry we eat. Likewise, when you are hungry for Truths, philosophy shows the way how to accrue it. Very often it so happens that every human is allowed to indulge in worldly pleasures as long as he is engulfed by the body consciousness. Slowly, he understands the impermanence of worldly happiness. This knowledge comes to him after he gets discontent with the paltry happiness he gets from the world through the senses.
Let us take an example. A baby enjoys playing with the toys. At the same time, when it gets hungry, it starts wailing for its mother. The mother rushes to the side of the baby and suckle it with her milk! This is the normal happening. While the baby cries for the mother, it does not evince any interest in the toys and it throws them away. All our worldly acquisitions are alike the toys with which the baby plays. One day or other, we will also abandon the search for the temporary tinsel, and seek the mother(God) to alleviate our spiritual hunger. By that time, we would have gained the knowledge that there is nothing worth in the worldly things or wealth. The real wealth is God and His Love! All other things are really insignificant in front of God!
Our life in this planet is of temporary nature and duration and in the extreme cases none might have survived in this body more than 120 years or so. If you ask the oldest man whether he wants to live further, mostly he would state, NO! Yes, Life in this planet is beset with many riddles and inadequacies. None here can fulfill all his ambitions in his life time. Our life itself takes a different direction in spite of our efforts. Some people easily acquire many things whereas others have to exert them self to satiate their hunger and thirst. Some are born rich and yet others are living in utter poverty. Some nations are materially affluent whereas some nations are facing drought and distress. The reasons behind these inequalities are explained well by philosophy.
As long as we live in this world, we are bound by certain irrevocable laws. Do good and reap good. As you sow, so you reap. Your crop can not be different from the seed. If it is a mango seed, you may get a mango fruit. If it is a bitter neem(margosa) seed, who can save you? Hence our results depend upon our own actions in the previous or current birth. We have seen and read about great men on earth like Abraham Lincoln and others. How much they have struggled to reach such top position in spite of their utter poverty? It is their hard work and high aims which took them to such grand positions. His honesty paid, His efforts yielded great results. He was humble to the core. Even after becoming the President of most powerful Nation, he never left his humility and human virtues. He respected every one. He was sincere to the core. He has done justice to the positions he held otherwise none would have remembered him! What is the stimulation? When his classmates cut cruel jokes about his person and dresses, he went to his mother and wept due to hurt feelings. But his mother guided him. Maintain your simplicity and self respect. Do not bother about what other's say about you. Be content with what you can afford!
Yes, he never aspired for great positions but positions sought him due to his humility and straight forwardness. He never cheated any. He became the most acclaimed President of USA. He abolished slavery and made it clear that the Government is for the people by the people and of the people. Philosophy reminds you of the impermanence of the worldly riches and happiness. It educates us about the real aim of life which is getting rid of this mundane existence and release from this cycle of births and deaths. It connects the individual to the SELF within and it tells the Truth that all are One in Self. Outward differences pertain only to the external world. We are all connected in the Self like the flowers which are attached to a thread to form a garland. We have to find the underlying Unity behind the diversity which we notice in the outer world. All the powers are contained in the Self and we must develop confidence in the Self and not on the temporary body or intelligence. There are hump tin number of text books on eastern philosophy but those who practice it are few in numbers. We should adopt the philosophical thoughts in our day to day life and enjoy the freedom it confers from the shackles of Life.
