Spiritual Milk No More: Lets Wean the Babes.

Can you see, What I see?

Having gone through all that we have, to be where we are this moment in our lives, you and I both know that we have seen many trials and test. We have faced great things in life, as well as within the time that God has done such amazing things in our lives. Having to deal with the reality of our sinful nature, from the healing of our most inner wounds we both know it has not been easy, but God has been faithful through it all. Having the victories that God has brought about in our lives and the amazing testimony that He has established in each one of our lives is beyond remarkable.

So this is what I would like to address in this Hub, Infancy to Maturity. There are a lot of people with in the body of Christ that are still infants or babes if you will that have not even begun to truly experience what being a child of God truly is about. It seems that either they are not using that what God has given them, or that they need a push or prod in the right direction to grow and mature. What they may need is for others to lead by the example that Christ desires for us as mature spirit filled individuals as part of the Body of Christ. It is not only the pastor’s job to teach and disciple. We are all called to make disciples. That is, that we are supposed to teach the Way, as well as live it.

I have used the Amplified Bible to convey the text that you are about to read. The richness of the message is amazing with the perspective this version projects. Enjoy.

“SO YOU, my son, be strong (strengthened inwardly) in the grace (spiritual blessing) that is [to be found only] in Christ Jesus. And the [instructions] which you have heard from me along with many witnesses, transmit and entrust [as a deposit] to reliable and faithful men who will be competent and qualified to teach others also. Take [with me] your share of the hardships and suffering [which you are called to endure] as a good (first-class) soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of [civilian] life; his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him. And if anyone enters competitive games, he is not crowned unless he competes lawfully (fairly, according to the rules laid down). [It is] the hard-working farmer [who labors to produce] who must be the first partaker of the fruits. Think over these things I am saying [understand them and grasp their application], for the Lord will grant you full insight and understanding in everything. Constantly keep in mind Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [as] risen from the dead, [as the prophesied King] descended from David, according to the good news (the Gospel) that I preach. For that [Gospel] I am suffering affliction and even wearing chains like a criminal. But the Word of God is not chained or imprisoned! Therefore I [am ready to] persevere and stand my ground with patience and endure everything for the sake of the elect [God's chosen], so that they too may obtain [the] salvation which is in Christ Jesus, with [the reward of] eternal glory. The saying is sure and worthy of confidence: If we have died with Him, we shall also live with Him. If we endure, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny and disown and reject Him, He will also deny and disown and reject us. If we are faithless [do not believe and are untrue to Him], He remains true (faithful to His Word and His righteous character), for He cannot deny Himself.” 2 Tim 2:1-13

So many distractions pervert our perception in this world. Priorities get messed up and excuses get made. This is not to be accusing anyone of anything, but more so to be challenging, continue to read on. It is time for some to, as well as my self, to step up and take up the slack that is in the Body of Christ. I can point things out all day long that I don’t agree with or things that need to be changed. May be since it has been brought to my attention, I may have been blessed with the ability or availability to do something about it with Gods help. In every thing it seems that our heart condition is important. As for those who are doing as God has instructed, Praise God for you and thank you for your continued labor in love.

Something I would like to expound upon if I may, is that some churches are still serving up milk every Sunday, and you really do not see a tremendous amount of body ministry or movements of the spirit with in these churches. It seems like business as usual. It is now that time for the babes to be weaned off the milk and for them to be brought to the next level of the faith. I believe its time for a lot of people to apply what it is they are hearing and become doers of the word. God said you can do this, and they step out in faith and watch God do something amazing and truly experience the Kingdom.

I mean really people! If I just wanted to warm another chair, I could go out and buy heating pads. I am serious that’s what they are for, to heat the seat, if that’s all I was expecting out of them. Forgive me for my tone but really I just want to challenge the younger ones to grow, as well to step out, and experience the reality of who God is and what God can do. Encourage them in their Faith toward God. You want to see someone excited for Jesus. Let them witness God moving through a Body of believers, where the very things that they have read about are taking place. Believe it God responds to the child like faith.

Here is some more of the word, may it feed your spirit and speak to your heart. My heart is for each of you to experience all that God has for you now and what’s to come.

“For even though by this time you ought to be teaching others, you actually need someone to teach you over again the very first principles of God's Word. You have come to need milk, not solid food. For everyone who continues to feed on milk is obviously inexperienced and unskilled in the doctrine of righteousness (of conformity to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action), for he is a mere infant [not able to talk yet]! But solid food is for full-grown men, for those whose senses and mental faculties are trained by practice to discriminate and distinguish between what is morally good and noble and what is evil and contrary either to divine or human law.” Heb 5:12-14

“[Even] now I rejoice in the midst of my sufferings on your behalf. And in my own person I am making up whatever is still lacking and remains to be completed [on our part] of Christ's afflictions, for the sake of His body, which is the church. In it I became a minister in accordance with the divine stewardship which was entrusted to me for you [as its object and for your benefit], to make the Word of God fully known [among you]--The mystery of which was hidden for ages and generations [from angels and men], but is now revealed to His holy people (the saints), To whom God was pleased to make known how great for the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ within and among you, the Hope of [realizing the] glory. Him we preach and proclaim, warning and admonishing everyone and instructing everyone in all wisdom (comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God), that we may present every person mature (full-grown, fully initiated, complete, and perfect) in Christ (the Anointed One). For this I labor [unto weariness], striving with all the superhuman energy which He so mightily en-kindles and works within me.” Col 1:24-29

“Clothe yourselves therefore, as God's own chosen ones (His own picked representatives), [who are] purified and holy and well-beloved [by God Himself, by putting on behavior marked by] tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, [and] patience [which is tireless and long-suffering, and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper]. Be gentle and forbearing with one another and, if one has a difference (a grievance or complaint) against another, readily pardoning each other; even as the Lord has [freely] forgiven you, so must you also [forgive]. And above all these [put on] love and enfold yourselves with the bond of perfectness [which binds everything together completely in ideal harmony]. And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ's] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always]. Let the word [spoken by] Christ (the Messiah) have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its] richness, as you teach and admonish and train one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom [in spiritual things, and as you sing] psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God with [His] grace in your hearts. And whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in [dependence upon] His Person, giving praise to God the Father through Him.” Col 3:12-17

“As for you, keep in your hearts what you have heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the first dwells and remains in you, then you will dwell in the Son and in the Father [always]. And this is what He Himself has promised us--the life, the eternal [life]. I write this to you with reference to those who would deceive you [seduce and lead you astray]. But as for you, the anointing (the sacred appointment, the unction) which you received from Him abides [permanently] in you; [so] then you have no need that anyone should instruct you. But just as His anointing teaches you concerning everything and is true and is no falsehood, so you must abide in (live in, never depart from) Him [being rooted in Him, knit to Him], just as [His anointing] has taught you [to do].” 1 John 2:24-27

“And this is eternal life: [it means] to know (to perceive, recognize, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only true and real God, and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the] Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah), Whom You have sent.” John 17:3

So much has been said just in those few passages. I would love to continue a discussion about this so please do leave a comment.

All I desire at this moment is God. I ask that God would reveal to each one of you who you are, all the more by truly revealing Him self even more so to you. May God bless you! And may His word continue to richly dwell in each one of you. Until next time God Bless.

Our pastor has been preaching along this vein as well. He said statistics show that 20% of most congregations serve the other 80% who show up but are uninvolved. It seems at times as if the modern church sees church as either a spectator sport, entertainment, or social club rather than a living body designed to serve the one that saved them.

Good Hub and topic to consider.
