THE LAWS OF MONEY - LAW 1: The Law of Source and Resources

2 Kings 18:1,3-7

Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign. [3] And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that David his father did.

[4] He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan. [5] He trusted in the Lord God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him. [6] For he clave to the Lord, and departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the Lord commanded Moses. [7] And the Lord was with him; and he prospered whithersoever he went forth: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.

In life, your source determines your resources and your resources determine your success level. Every thing you have is created from something and that is your resources. No production process can take place without the factors of production such as land, labour, capital, and enterprise. Only God could create the world from nothing, but after the creation of the universe every other discovery, achievement and name it, are all products of the already created matter.

Your level of economic success in life is directly linked up with the resources at your disposal and your source of these resources determines to a large extent the quantum or magnitude of the wealth you command.

As the source of a river is a very important factor in determining the life span of the river, so also is the source of a man the determinant of his economic power and longevity. If man is your source, then you are of all men most miserable because cursed is the man that puts his trust in the arm of flesh.

The above scripture says that King Hezekiah trusted in the Lord and as long as he trusted in the Lord, he prospered in whatever he did and wherever he turned to. That is what your story will be if you learn to make the Lord your source.

You may be thinking within yourself by now that, well, I am an exception because I made my wealth by my own intelligence and business acumen.

Well that may be true to some extent but remember that it is only the blessing of the Lord that makes rich and adds no sorrow to it and remember also that it is only that which the Lord helps in creating that he will help in preserving when the devourer unleashes his venomous attack on your wealth.

The common sense to know that you can finish creating and gathering the money but you will lack what it takes to live and enjoy it should be enough to teach somebody to make God your source. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 6:1-2 that

“There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is common among men. A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease”.

Jesus Christ taught a great lesson on this subject in John’s Gospel when he said, as the branch cannot survive unless it remains in the parent plant so can we not survive unless we remain in him. Get connected to God as your source and stay connected so that you can constantly draw on the sup of life in him. For in him dwells all the riches of wisdom and knowledge we need to take giant economic strides in these end times. You cannot do without this truth if you really want to make significant amounts of money and remain relevant in your generation.

Many businesses built on human wisdom and effort, are folding up in the face of the global economic shake-ups today. You must be wise enough to make God a covenant partner and the majority shareholder in every money making venture of yours in order to guarantee the safety of your business in the face of the numerous challenges to business today.

Where you derive your source of funding from is a crucial factor in determining how far you go and how long you last in your moneymaking ventures of life. Take for instance two people embarking on a money creation venture; Mr. A has the World Bank as his major financier and then Mr. B sources his funding from a local rural bank which is listed for liquidation. Do you need the Holy Spirit to tell you the financial fate of these two people? This therefore brings us to the first law of money, which states that:

Your source and resource base in life determines the amount of money you are able to access and accumulate.

When you learn to make the God of all flesh your source of supply, your supply will surely be unlimited. You cannot accomplish much without God.

This said however, does not mean that we trust in the Lord and go to sleep without employing the resources he puts at our disposal. We need to understand how God features in the process of our wealth creation because God certainly does not post Dollar bills, Pound Sterling, Cedis, Euros, etc from heaven.

How then do we make him our source of supply in the process of wealth creation?

Deut. 8:18

But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

Isaiah 48:17

Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

The above scriptures point out some of the ways in which we can make God our source. God gives us the power to get wealth. The POWER in this context is the Hebrew word koach-meaning to be firm; vigour, or figuratively (capacity or, means to produce); also ability, force, might, strength, substance.

If you make God your source, he will equip you with the physical well-being, the mental prowess, and the material resources to get wealth.

The passage in Isaiah 48: 17 says he teaches us to prosper and leads us in the way that we should go. This has to do with empowerment with supernatural skill, talents, business acumen, and divine direction in business or financial decision-making. As God gave Bezaleel and Aholiab wisdom, knowledge, and skills in all manner of artisanship towards the construction of the Tabernacle in the wilderness, so will he teach us in this our generation to profit in all our financial endeavours, if only we will make him our source.

Your source is very crucial in the business of wealth creation. Jesus as part of his teachings on wealth said his father knows that we have need of all the wealth and goodies of this life. He has however, shown us the easiest way to get them. Instead of going after the material things of God, we are rather admonished to go after the God of the things so that the things will automatically become ours.

Through the leading of God as your source, you will know which businesses to invest in and make it big time. If you are into investment in the stock market, He will show you which stocks to invest in and those not to waste your money going into.

Matthew 6:31-33

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? [32] (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. [33] But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

It is the wish and desire of God for us to prosper and get wealth but he does not want that wealth to come and corrupt us and take his place in our hearts. This is the reason why he wants us to make him our source so that by so doing he would first be in our lives before the wealth and the riches come to us so that we do not set our affections on them at the expense of our relationship with God.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing.

Jesus commands us to remain, continue, dwell, and abide in him as He abides in the father. The reason is given here as not being able to bear fruit otherwise. Again He repeats that He is the true vine and believers are the branches; they are powerless to produce fruit if they do not abide in Him.

This then is the first law of money: The Law of Source and Resource
