The Blessedness of Living In The Center of God’s Will
Wait for the Lord and keep his way.
He will exalt you to inherit the land;
When the wicked are cut off, you will see it.
I heve seen a wicked and a ruthless man
Flourishing like a green tree in its native soil,
But he soon passed away and was no more,
Though I looked for him, he could not be found.
Consider the blameless, observe the upright ;
There is a future for a man of peace.
But all sinners will be destroyed ;
The future of the wicked will be cut off.
The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord;
He is their stronghold in time of trouble.
The Lord helps them and delivers them ;
He delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
Because they take refuge in Him.
Psalm 37 : 34-40
Which is the best way to live our earthly life ?
Is it to follow the ways of the majority to work hard, earn as much as you can, enjoy as much as you can, store riches and lay up treasures, invest and strive hard to achieve the very best.
These things are not bad but we should not rest our confidence and security upon the “great things” this earthly life could offer. Apart from the ways and will of God, there is no true enjoyment. Although you possess the best things this life has to offer, living apart from God’s ways and outside the center of His will is the most miserable life.
For living in wickedness and worldliness apart from the will of God does not guarantee a promising future though it is a life of affluence. The ungodly has no future. They can never be part of the eternal Kingdom of God. After their earthly life, only judgement and destruction awaits them. Their future is only up to this earthly life.
The righteous, those living in the center of God’s will are much blessed. For God has prepared a very great and awesome future for them. They are part of the everlasting and indestructible kingdom of God.. Though they may be just poor and simple people who are deprived of the many “great things” this earthly life could offer, they will enjoy a marvelous eternity with God. They could always look forward to a promising future in the eternal kingdom of God as it is written in I John 2:17:
“The world and its desires pass away but the man who does the will of God lives
forever.”
The righteous are also blessed because they can always look up to the Lord for their protection in times of trouble and danger. In times of distress the Lord is a mighty shield to His righteous ones. As it is written in Proverbs 18:10;
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run to it and are safe.”
We can only have much confidence to call on the name of the Lord if we are living blameless lives. Thus perfect security in life can be found only upon living in the center of God’s will. For what will you do with your great material possessions such as a palatial house, flashy cars, fat bank account if they will not guarantee you a place in the eternal Kingdom of God. You cannot look forward for a marvelous life beyond death’s door. And what is our life here on earth ? It is just a breath, it is just a glimpse of moment in comparison to eternity. Living apart from God’s will and ways all you have to look forward is an earthly life then judgement and eternal doom.
There are so much sources of distresses in the world today , it is best to live according to God’s will and ways so that we can have perfect refuge in times of trouble. So the best way to live our earthly life is to live moment by moment in the center of God’s will. For only in living this way, we can achieve the perfect confidence and security in life. This coming New Year let us strive hard to live in the center of God’s will moment by moment of our life.. This is the best resolution we can make for the New Year.
