The Feast of Pentecost
The Feast of Pentecost or Pentecost Sunday
Pentecost Sunday appears fifty days after the Jewish Passover. It falls on a different date each year. It was on Pentecost that the Holy Spirit first fell on the believers in the Upper Room in Jerusalem. Jesus commanded his followers to return to Jerusalem to the upper room to await the Promise of the Father, which was the Holy Spirit. Five hundred people heard this command but only One hundred-twenty lasted the ten days from the Ascension to Pentecost when the Holy Spirit fell.
Luke 15: 10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
Angels rejoiced this morning
Music was in the air
A soul touched his Maker
For the first time…
And there was Power!
Oh, what a joyful moment!
Such splendor…oh such Grace!
When the Spirit of God
fell on him,
You could see it in his face.
He broke forth with a
One that had never been heard before…
The Gates of Hell trembled
as God triumphed once again,
When His Holy Spirit was welcomed
Into the heart of a young man

Coming of the Holy Spirit
Acts 2: 1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Speaking With Tongues
Please do not leave argumentative comments about speaking with tongues. I am a believer and do not wish to debate the issue. There is nothing in the Bible to give credence to the the theory that tongues ceased with the early church.
Acts 10: 44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. 45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.
Acts 19: 19 And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples 2 he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” 3 And he said to them, “Into what then were you baptized?” So they said, “Into John’s baptism.” 4 Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.” 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied. 7 Now the men were about twelve in all.
1 Corinthians 14: 22 Therefore tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; but prophesying is not for unbelievers but for those who believe.
36 Or did the word of God come originally from you? Or was it you only that it reached? 37 If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord. 38 But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant. 39 Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues. 40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
