The Church is a Showcase of Terrible Power
A Terrible Power to the 100th Power
For starters, we (the church) will judge angels. I don't know if you realize what this means. "Don't you know that we will judge angels?" Paul asks the Corinthians in his first letter (6.3). Earlier he added, "Don't you know the church will judge the world?" So how come, he wondered, the church couldn't judge correctly even trifling things in his day? And the fact is, the church ought to be ready to judge everything in this life! (6.3b). Paul was tremendous in his judgment--he had the power to hand over rebellious souls to Satan. Satan was just his errand boy.
"The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment," (1 Cor.2.15). Powerful! But you see, false teachers and pastors have watered down all those tremendous pronouncements of Paul for years by saying we should not judge or be judgmental. They say this because they themselves fall short of Christ's standards for us. You lose power to judge the moment your witness and life testimony are compromised. And when you're a begging church, you have sponsors to protect. You make sure they're safe from the offense of the cross.
Judgment is Power
Now here's the key to a powerful church---righteous judgment! When you have this, God's mighty power will indwell tremendously in you and cloak you as well, as in the days of Elijah and Elisha. Those anointed men of God gave terrible judgments left and right as they also proclaimed God's Word, and so did John the baptizer and Samuel the prophet. All their lives the Israelites knew the power of God (and judgment always preceded it) and cowered in fear each time these prophets opened their mouths. Imagine that? People watch you--if you just open your mouth they fall prostrate in anxious fear--because they see the genuine and awesome presence of God in you and about you. These days are coming!
Just imagine this. Samuel came to Bethlehem. He even hadn't opened his mouth yet when the elders there came trembling in fear, says the Word. They asked, "Are you here for peace?" (1Sam.16). Wow! How I wish this were true of the church today. As it is, the church is just ignored by the world--because all it's known for is solicitation and donation, not judgment and power. But just wait, the Word says the church is in for a tremendous transformation in these last days!
Showcase of Awesome Power
My friend on HubPages, Shadow of Elisha, mentioned about God's powerful plan to bring back the days of Elijah and Moses in our day, which is the last days (we're now at the threshold of the Last Days). And awesome power (100 nuclear warheads are nothing compared to this power!) will soon blanket and fill the true church, which is the glorious church of Jesus Christ, without spot or wrinkle or any other blemish (Oh boy! As I write this, I feel the fierce might of the Holy Spirit at boiling point!).
And to get a picture, here's what Paul said:
"God's plan is this--that starting now, through the church, the multifarious wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to his eternal purpose which he completed and displayed in Christ Jesus," (Eph.3.10).
The church is a showcase of power, tremendous and terrible power! I hope churches are paying attention to this and not wasting time on their beautiful church programs, activities, and human theologies. You see, God's plan is for the church to display the awesome manifold wisdom of God--not to people--but to spiritual rulers and authorities, which are the demons and devils and angels. Though they have been existing since time immemorial, demons and devils and angels have not yet seen the full array of God's powerful wisdom in its entirety. And we're about to show them that--after the church is brought to the high mountain of Transfiguration and have a radical and revolutionary transformation (or metamorphoo in Greek).
Extreme Holiness and Spirituality
God's wisdom is his judgments. Thus, no wonder Proverbs says, "Wisdom is supreme." Are you getting this in your spirits? Now, before you get too excited, listen: This will happen only to extremely spiritual believers who speak "not with human words but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words," (1Cor.2). It's all spiritual. I've heard denominational pastors insist that it's bad to be very spiritual about everything. They feel ashamed with being all spiritual. Well, they're bound to miss this Move of God. The unspiritual man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him," (1 Cor.2).
And catchers of this Last Days Move of God should be spiritual men who make judgments about all things but--(listen to this) they themselves are not subject to any man's judgment. In other words, they should be above reproach. They should be holy men of God. The ground works of this terrible, awesome power of God in us (to make the church a showcase of power) are the spoken Word, rigid everyday holiness, and being led and empowered by the Holy Spirit to the extreme. Then get excited!
Here's an Idea of the Glorious Church
Revelations 11 speaks of two witnesses who have the power "to shut up the sky to prevent rain when they prophesy, and power to turn seas into blood--and even strike the earth with all known and unknown plagues any time they want." Fire even comes out of their mouths to devour detractors. And any soul who hurts them gets killed instantly. Wow! Here we get a picture of the Last Days church--glorious church without spot or wrinkle. Powerful! Malachi prophesied the coming of the spirit of Elijah and Moses in the last days, and in Revelations we see these spirits activated in the true church.
Nope, God won't send Elijah and Moses in the flesh. As God did with John the baptizer (John was the Elijah who was to come, said the Master) so will he do with the church in the last days. He will send their spirits to empower the church. Actually, God will send the Holy Spirit with about 100 times the capacity we saw in Moses and Elijah. If then Moses demolished Pharaoh and Elijah King Ahab and Jezebel, in the last days God will crash Satan underneath the church's feet, making him a footstool for the Bride and the Groom, who are one flesh.
The demons and devils and angels are about to see the Body complete with the Head, in full God's armor, commanding the universe and all creation to full submission! "The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed," (Rom.8). In the last days, when Christ is manifested fully in true believers' bodies, Jesus will reveal who they are to all creation--including the angels and devils. Angels and devils haven't seen this yet in all their eternal lives! Even angels long to look into these things. Thus, in the very beginning, angels asked, "What is man that you (God) are mindful of him?" God answered: "Man is wonderfully and fearfully created!" This is because God designed redeemed man to be one flesh with HIM. The two shall become one flesh in the renewal of things.
Command Creation? Have You Experienced This?
Moses commanded creation. Elijah commanded creation. Yet, Christ was not in them, Jesus was not in their bodies. The Spirit did not indwell the believer yet at the time. How much more power will the church have because Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are 100 percent in them, in their bodies? This is something we need to meditate more, to soak in more. We must be desperate to have this NOW! For God's glory. Jesus, I want to be one flesh with you!
But one flesh means we carry the Jesus cross daily. The question is, where is the persecution today? "Everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ will be persecuted," says Paul. The church in the free world is not persecuted unlike Jesus and the Acts church were because the world pays no attention to a powerless church. If the church has righteous judgment, it will be persecuted. And in persecution comes tremendous, awesome, terrible power! Power is made perfect in weakness. As it is, the church at large is comfy in its compromises and begging.
You See the PIcture Now?
The last days church, which is glorious, without spot or wrinkle, and with terrible powers no angel or devil has ever seen, able to control nature and creation all in Jesus' Name, is also a persecuted church. The church derives power only from the Jesus cross. "The cross is foolishness to those who are dying--but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God," (1Cor.1). Power is not from how good the church brags about its programs and activities and memberships and buildings and good community standing. "The kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power."
Nor is power about great denominational theologies and doctrines of men which only empty the power of the cross; "The Gospel I preach is not with human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ is emptied of its power," (1Cor.1.17). But true power is a demonstration of the Spirit's power, not with wise and persuasive words (1Cor.2.4) that impress only the powerless. You got that? A "demonstration." Hence, God will display his manifold wisdom (his power) through the church. And it's in fact starting now! Make sure you're now a part of it all. No more rotten or weak spiritual life.
For More Power
Is Your Church a Glorious Church?
God will never lower his standard, not for you, not for me. The standard has been a glorious church, without spot or wrinkle. Is the church you're attending a glorious church? I don't care if it has "sound" doctrines. Even the devil can manufacture "sound" doctrines and still be the devil. Sound and bible-based doctrines are important, but Jesus says, "You will know them by their fruit," not their sound doctrines.
If your church is a problematic church, with lots of spots and wrinkles, and any stain imaginable, it's not yet too late. First, admit your sorry and messy condition. Don't be a defender of your denomination. Lots of pastors are nothing except denominational church propagandists. They use God's name to promote their churches, period. From now on, be God's spokesman like Jeremiah was! As long as you're a mere denominational church defender, Satan's happy with you. Your church should shape up with God's sufficient grace and start standing in line with the radical and extreme Jesus end-time army, wearing the full armor of God.
But before any of the above can happen, understand that God will not finish what he didn't start. There should first be a lot of demolition and pulling down of wrong mindsets. There are lots of human belief systems (though they call them "born again") to throw to the trash or be utterly destroyed, before real Kingdom building can begin. God told Jeremiah so.
You are destined to be a showcase of God's power, a tremendous and terrible power the world and all creation haven't seen yet. And this while you remain humble, meek, low-profile, simple, and yet fierce, like the Lion of Judah! So fall in behind the King, as Jehu, the radical cult-slayer, would say!
