The House Of God

When you say house of God most people think of a building, a church building That is. Understandable because in the old testament the house of God was a building the temple. The temple was where the ark of the covenant was. Where the spirit, power, and presence of God dwelled.

It was never God's ultimate plan that a building be his dwelling place. His plan was always that he would dwell in his people. And God made the way for that through his son Jesus.

Ephesians 2:19-22
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21 In whom (in Jesus) all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom (in Jesus) ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit

So the house of God Is a corporate group of people who are built upon the foundation, that Jesus Christ himself is the chief corner stone of. And in Jesus we together form the habitation of God through his spirit.

You probably thinking great analogy Tim but what does all that mean. I am glad you asked because that is really the heart of this message. The key is in the name of God. The purpose of the house of God is that the name of God or testimony of God, or witness would be preserved in the earth.Upon the completion of the temple God spoke these words to Solomon in the night.

2 Chronicles 7:16
For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually

The temple was a place that Gods people could go and be reminded of their God. and of his covenant, commands, statutes, and be reminded of his promise that if they walked in his ways that they would be blessed and not cursed. And they would eat of the good of the land.

That is a promise from the mouth of God "THAT MY NAME MAY BE THERE FOR EVER" God will never allow his name (the true witness of himself) to be removed from the earth. In general man will always tend to go his own way, when it comes to the point when the name of God is threatened, God will always step in and do something about it. we see that in the days of Noah. And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. Noah was the only testimony of God left on the earth.

When the name of God is threatened in the earth God must step in and do something about it. God had Noah build the ark. God was going to preserve his name. As was in the days of Noah so shall it be in the days of the coming of the son of man. Remember that, We will see this same scenario played out again in these last days.

History always repeats itself it won't be exactly the same it wont be only one person it wont be a flood. But it will be the same scenario that the name of God is threatened and God steps in and does something about it. We see it played out again and again in the Bible.

Let me say this and then I will explain. We are either building the house of God or we are building a tower of Babel. They both represent something. The house of God represents the name of God, the testimony, the witness of God in the earth. Babylon is the system of man making a name for himself apart from the authority of God.

Genesis 11:4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth

We don't want your name God, thats what they were saying. We will make a name for ourselves. And by the way God we will build this tower right up to heaven so if you try to flood the earth again we will come up there and get in your face. when Gods name is being threatened he will do something about it.

A couple of weeks ago my wife and I were watching that new series The Bible. They were at the part where Jesus is going to the cross. As we sat there watching that we both were in tears, you can't help but be moved by that. Here is an innocent man who never did anything but help people and demonstrate the love of God, he was the very image of God, the name, the testimony, the witness of God in the earth. He is being beaten and humiliated, while his mother and others he loved looked on.

The bible says he could have called 10,000 angels, but he doesn't he was like a lamb led to the slaughter. As I was watching this I thought, why would anyone want to reject this man? Why would they want to do this to him? he did nothing wrong. He only did what the father told him to do. he was one with the father. he was the name, the testimony, the witness of God on the earth. "JESUS THE CHIEF CORNER STONE".

There is only one reason they would want to do this to him. They did not want the name of God they wanted to make a name for themselves. The very people who were supposed to be representing God in the earth had gone there own way and made a name for themselves. And they wanted nothing to do with the name of God. They wanted to get rid of him.

BUT GOD, was building the foundation of the house where his name would remain for ever. The final resting place of God. You and me, a people who have built there house on the foundation that Jesus Christ is the corner stone of. The city Abraham looked for. A City with foundations whose builder and maker was God.

God will have his witness in the earth. Which side of that are you on? I don't care if you have said the sinners prayer. Never before in history have we had Babylon at the click of a button like we do today. And it is intoxicating. Revelation 18 speaking of Babylon says for all nations have drank the wine of her wrath

Once again we are raising our fists at God in defiance. We are pushing him out of our government, our schools, our culture, our society. Even our churches. The very people who are supposed to be upholding the name of God are going there own ways and making a name for themselves, and doing it in the name of God. God is about to do something about it. If he allows it to continue even his very elect will be deceived.

Babylon will fall. God will remove his hand of protection and give her over to the devils that habituate it. The house of God is the habitation of God, Babylon is the habitation of devils. And when she falls only that which is on the foundation of Christ will stand. everything else will be washed away. It won't be a physical flood this time, but the same scenario will play out again.

In the words of Jesus himself. " Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

What is your house built on? The world is sinking sand. All that is not on the foundation of Jesus Christ will be washed away. Come to Jesus, make him your life and you will be saved.

I love your hub, I was drawn to it.

Then I read the part where you say "God IS about to do something about it. That is another sign to me, even though you do not know, I do.

Its funny how God gives messages to others.

then when I went on to read the scripture below, it was like God telling me his exact plan that the world is about to see. Wow.

Anyway good hub and thank you. I totally agree with you

Amen Tim, ...For His name's sake. It is my firm belief that the command to not take His name in vain is about how we live and who we live for and maybe even further than that, its about lives that evidence who lives in us as your article so eloquently communicates.

I liked how you tied building personal Babylons (self achievements and godless pursuits and endeavors) with building a house on sand.

It really is time to choose because you are correct Babylon will fall and how will we find our lives sustained because we built on the Rock. Salvation through Christ alone.
