The Indestructible Kingdom of the Christ
The Indestructible Kingdom of the Christ
“In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence . He was given authority, glory and sovereign power, all peoples, nations and men of every language worshipped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.”
About 700 years before the actual birth of Christ prophet Daniel saw the vision above in his dream. The vision is about the coming indestructible kingdom of the Christ. The vision appeared in Daniel’s dream during the reign of Belshazzar king of Babylon about 700 to 600 B.C.
Great kingdoms and empires have ruled the world so far. So many great empires have emerged so far such as the empires of Babylon, Persia, Greece and Rome. But these empires no matter how great they were, had also come to an end.
At the time when the New Testament was written the entire civilized world with the exception of the little kingdoms of the Far East was under the domination of Rome. From the Atlantic Ocean on the West to the Euphrates River and the Red Sea on the East, and from the Rhone, the Danube, the Black Sea and the Caucasus mountains on the North to the Sahara on the South, these stretched the one vast empire under the headship and virtual dictatorship of the emperor called in the New Testament both “king” and “Augustus.”
Though the mighty Roman empire ruled the civilized world for centuries its dominion also came to an end. No earthly empire or kingdom is bound to reign for eternity. Only one kingdom is bound to last for ternity, it is the indestructible kingdom of God in JesusChrist .
Jesus began his ministry in Galilee by proclaiming the nearness of the Kingdom of Heaven. He expressed well in his parables truths about the Kingdom of God. He urged people to seek first the Kingdom of God . He even said this “kingdom” is within the heart of man, The “Kingdom of God” is the central message of Jesus ministry. According to him, it is something whose worth is uncomparable with any treasure here on earth. It is the greatest treasure in the world and urged men to seek it with all their heart.
All the kingdoms and empires of the world is destined to meet its end. No matter what kind of empire it is. It may be a political empire or business empire, one day it will be just a thing of the past just like the mighty and powerful Roman empire.
No kingdom or empire is permanent, so nothing is permanent here on earth. Therefore you cannot rest your security on anything in this world. Any earthly kingdom is bound to perish as this present world is perishing.
The Kingdom of God in JesusChrist is the only thing that will live on forever. That is why it is the greatest treasure here on earth. To find the Kingdom of God is an infinite gain and to miss it is an infinite loss. The greatest losers in this life are not those who are not successful by this world standard, but those who failed to find the Kingdom of God while on earth.
A persom may be just an ordinary citizen of this world, he may not have great riches or success in this world, but if he found the kingdom of God while on earth, his life indeed is a great success. A person may have the best things in the world, a great success and a great wealth but failing to possess the Kingdom of God while on earth, his life is a total failure. As it is written in Matthew 16:26;
“What good will it be for a man if he gain the whole world yet forfeits his soul.”
For Virginia de la Pena or Mommy V, possessing the Kingdom of God is the greatest thing in this world. Virginia de la Pena is a 71-year old businesswoman turned missionary. According to her, even though she will be given billions worth of pesos in riches, she will not exchange it to the personal relationship she now enjoy with Christ.
Mrs. Virginia de la Pena used to live a very affluent lifestyle before she found the Lord JesusChrist in her life. She used to own several nightclubs that provided her tons of money and luxurious lifestyle. She was living in a palatial house with flashy cars and always enjoy partying and eating lavishly.
Though living an affluent lifestyle, her life is never far from strife and troubles. One day she was arrested for possession of drugs. The truth it was not Mommy V who possessed the drugs but it was her kids. She was put into jail because of this trouble in her life.
While in jail Mommy V came to know the Lord JesusChrist through a fellowship inside the jail. She served a total of seven years in the jail. After she was released, Virginia de la Pena never let go of the Kingdom of God she found inside the jail. She hold onto the Kingdom of God tightly and pursued a life of righteousness in the eyes of God.
Today at 71 years old, she is serving as a missionary reaching out to the Itas or negritoes ( a minority tribe in the Philippines). According to her she is much much happier now than her younger days before when she had great wealth. According to her, the joy she found in the Lord is uncomparable, she will not exchange it for anything though she be given billions worth of riches.
The Kingdom of God in JesusChrist is the only thing that is permanent. The RomanEmpire was gone for a long time yet the Kingdom of God is still here. You must pursue it with all your heart for it is the greatest treasure in the entire universe. It comes to the willing heart. To the heart who is willing to humble himself before God to admit his sinfulness. To the heart who is willing forsake sin, self and the world. To the heart who is willing to accept the death of Christ as the ultimate sacrifice for the atonement of his sins.
