The Lord Shall Renew

Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 40:30-31

So many people including myself are tired and low on energy lately. A part of this could be blamed on our fast paced society. But, I like to think it is because they don't take a day of rest once a week. It is so simple, as a matter of fact it's so simple that people don't want to believe it or listen to it. Most people seem to like to cling to information that is more complex or harder to achieve. God rested on the seventh day and He is God!, but yet we don't think we need it? In today's world with all the shift work and constant overload of technology, it seems almost impossible to do this but I do believe it is possible.

If you have a job or career that makes it almost impossible for you to do this on a Saturday or Sunday then you could try to do it another day during the week. You could also start praying about God helping you get the time to do this.

Some people, myself included will procrastinate with duties or chores. This type of behavior can make it more difficult to really relax, simply because you will be thinking of all the things that you need to get done. Making a list and trying to complete it before your day of rest can be helpful. Try not to leave everything until last minute since this will cause more stress. Stress is tiring and will make you weary.

Try not to make any plans on your day of rest. For some reading, resting and praying is real rest for others watching a movie in their pajamas is good. I have heard of some people who like to cook all their food ahead of time and have paper plates to save on work. It's not a bad idea.

Try to find the things that truly make you feel rested and don't forget to wait upon the Lord.

Jesus said in Mark 2:27 "Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath." God gave us the sabbath as a gift.
