God Explains Himself In Scripture: The Person, Nature, And Operations Of God

This article is a lesson using the premise that God has revealed Himself in very specific ways in His word, the Bible. I tried to make specific statements based on the revelation present in Scripture that explains God as much as is possible for finite man can understand an infinite God. In regular print italics is a summation statement as if God had spoken it. Then after that in bold italics is a source Scripture for that statement. Articles such as this have a bit of adhesive to speculate on things too high for humans to know. I think that what I have added will not endanger the Biblical accuracy in the statements about God and His dealings with man and Satan and sin.

I am the only true God. There is none beside Me.

"Therefore You are great, O Lord God. For there is none like You, nor is there any God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears." (2 Samuel 7:22)

Know that I, your God, am one God .

"Hear O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one." (Deuteronomy 6:4)

Although I am referred to in Scripture as the Father, and as the Son, and as the Holy Spirit, I am one (1) LORD..

"In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name." (Matthew 6:9)

"Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, 'Truly You are the Son of God.'" (Matthew 14:33)

"But Peter said, 'Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.'" (Acts 5:3-4)

I desired to personally reveal Myself to the creation I love.

"No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his Master is doing but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you." (John 15:15)

I have revealed Myself in three ways. The first way is in My very creation itself.

"For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse." (Romans 1:20)

The second way I revealed myself is by the incarnation.

"In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the Father), full of grace and truth." (John 1:1, 14)

"For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him." (John 1:17-18)

The third way that I revealed Myself is by the written word. I have had written in a book, words that I know will explain things about my nature for mankind to know. I used symbols and concepts, relationships and stories, parables and history, and other things mankind has in their collective experience, to describe things far above them in nature, in substance, and experience. These things many times are not actual descriptions, but a glimpse, to reveal something I want pondered and considered.

"The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the Words of this law." (Deuteronomy 29:29)

Some things I did not dictate to be written, because in their present sinful form, mankind could not receive it.

"Jesus answered and said to him, 'What am I doing you do not understand now, but you will after this.'" (John 13:7)

"I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now." (John 16:12)

I am so far above my creation in substance, morals, values, knowledge, and comprehension, that it is hard for My creation to understand how I have given them traits similar to Myself. I have given them, so study what I have written and find out about Me.

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts nor are your ways My ways,' says the Lord. 'For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.'" (Isaiah 55:8-9)

"So God created man in His own image, in the the image of God created He him; male and female created He them." (Genesis 1:27)

"Study to shew thyself approved to unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15)

First and foremost, I have a respect for the personhood of every human being I create. Each person's destiny and their eternity is their choice. I do this because I do not and I cannot deny Myself My Own nature nor will I contradict Myself. I have said man has his destiny to decide and I will not I deny any person their personhood and right which I have given them to choose for themselves their path.

"If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself." (2 Timothy 2:13)

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me." (Revelation 3:20)

"I call heaven and earth today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live." (Deuteronomy 30:19)

There is none above Me.

"Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power and the glory, the victory and the majesty; for all that is in heaven and in earth is yours; yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted as head over all." (1 Chronicles 29:11)

I Am all knowledge.

"Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite." (Psalm 147:5)

I Am all wisdom.

"O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of our God! how unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out." (Romans 11:33)

I Am all power.

"God has spoken once, twice I have heard this: that power belongs to God." (Psalm 62:11)

I can do anything.

"I know You can do everything, and that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You." (Job 42:2)

"But Jesus looked at them and said to them, 'With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'" (Matthew 19:26)

I am pure.

"Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who may stand in His holy place? he who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully." (Psalm 24:3-4)

I am holiness.

"In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings; with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: 'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory.'" (Isaiah 6:1-3)

I Am justice that cannot be denied.

"The just Lord is in the midst thereof; He will not do iniquity; every morning doth He bring His judgment to light, He faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame." (Zephaniah 3:5)

I Am mercy beyond any comprehension.

"But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children's children." (Psalm 103:17)

Around every one of the operations of My person is love.

"Beloved. let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." (1 John 4:7-8)

One day one of my creation, began to think on the circumstance of his life. He reasoned in himself until his thoughts showed flawed reasoning that once formed turned to sin. He rebelled against his position, his God, his purpose. Once he did that, evil was easy for sin was found in him.

"And there was war in heaven; Micheal and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found anymore in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world; he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." (Revelation 12:7-9)

Satan reasoned on My nature as he knows it. He noted My holiness, my justice, my love. He introduced sin to My creation, mankind, thinking he would make Me turn my attributes against one another. But My thoughts were above his thoughts and My ways were above his ways.

I had known what He would do because I know the end at the beginning.

"Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is none like Me. Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, 'My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure." (Isaiah 46:9-10)

Satan reasoned in himself: [God cannot deny Himself of His own person and nature. God is holy and cannot tolerate sin. God must punish and wipe out sin. His mercy will not cancel out His justice. His love will make His heart hurt. All will see the contradiction in Him. He would have to destroy mankind, but then He would be seen as a failure. Or, He will forgive mankind, and He will be seen as less than just. In displaying His justice, they will see no love. In displaying His love, they will see no justice. His kingdom will be like a deck of cards, that, with but a slight breeze of sin, will come crashing down. I will appear more reasonable than He].

I, God, knew mankind would sin. I knew that they would need a redeemer, yet sin must be punished. Justice must prevail. Love must be the operative word. Holiness demands separation from sin. I could not deal with sin and be holy because holy demands I be apart from it. I knew man would need a choice. If none were given, they would have to be apart from Me forever. I knew that the devil that was named Satan, would need a place that would be a punishment designed for him. There is no place else for unrepentant sinners to go but with their father the devil.

"You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it." (John 8:44)

"Then He will also say to those on the left hand, "Depart from Me, you cursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels." (Matthew 25:41)

I God came to earth in human flesh, I God told Joseph to name Me Jesus.

"For in Him dwells the fullness of the Godhead bodily." (Colossians 2:9)

I was born of a virgin because it was through the male Adam, that sin entered mankind. I had no human father but I was conceived by the Holy Spirit so I had no human blood since the gene for blood comes from the father. I had the Father's blood. I had God's blood.

"Therefore, just as through one man [Adam] sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned." (Romans 5:12)

I lived the law of God without sin.

"For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin." (Hebrews 4:15)

I was crucified unjustly, but that death paid for the sin of every single person ever born. In Jesus, God punished all sin by unleashing His wrath on Me as I symbolically became sin for every man, and then God my Father turned His back on Me who "became" sin.

"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." (2 Corinthians 5:21)

"Now from the sixth hour to the nineth hour there was darkness over all the land. And about the nineth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice saying, 'Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that is, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" (Matthew 27:45-46)

"But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the law and the prophets, even the righteousness of God, though faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus." (Romans 3:21-24)

Now it is possible for every person to open the door of his heart to God. It is their choice. Choose life and come home unto your rest. Don't pay for your sins yourself by an eternity with the devil. Accept what has been done for you, take it into your heart and live. I love you, all of you, so much. Come to Me while there is time.

Dear reader: God wants to be able to use the blood of Christ to pay for your sin. He wants every single person, His whole creation to live with Him in His holiness but He will not force anyone to make that decision. All one must do is believe and ask Jesus to save them. If you have not talked to God like this before, stop what you are doing and pray this prayer with me. Now this is not a magic incantation but a heartfelt cry to a Holy God. Pray:

Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner and the weight of my sin is upon me. I know if I died right now I have no way to get to heaven because my sin will not let me in. So I cry out to You to save me. I need the value of Your blood applied to the debt I owe for my sin. I can't pay for my own sin for I have no righteousness of my own. I believe that You died for me, that You were buried for me, and that You rose the third day for me. I turn from my life of sin to You as the only way of salvation. Thank You Lord for hearing my prayer that I pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
