The Power of Magical Places: Witchcraft at Disney World

Magickal Places in the US

Just yesterday, I returned from an amazing journey through a magical land. I witnessed mystical events. I saw people's dreams come true. I experienced things that moved me to tears and renewed my faith. The energy was intense and palpable, seeming to swirl through the air like waves of static electricity, sweeping away all those in its path. It seemed to lift people to rapturous heights, inspiring cries of delight and joyous celebrations. Some were overwhelmed by it at times-- reduced to break downs and tears as large waves of energy ebbed and flowed around us. It was though they needed to purge the excess energy, then it was not long before the magic around them sooth their spirits and filled them up again.

Where is this wondrous place, you might ask? You've heard of it. You may have been there: it's Walt Disney World. Traveling down the path through it's gates seem to take you to another world, outside of time and space.

Not what you were expecting? Perhaps not... but this trip did get me really thinking about magical places, and what makes them so special.

What Makes a Place Magical?

Some places have mystical qualities that are attributed to ley lines-- the Earth's channels where energy flows. It's not surprising that many ancient sacred sites mapped out today seem to correspond perfectly with the Earth's ley lines.

Many find that natural places least corrupted by man have that mystical quality. In their untouched, pristine condition, the natural energy has not been disturbed. It's akin to a pure, clear natural spring too far out in the wilderness to have been polluted or spoiled.

Some ancient places such as Stonehenge, the Western Wall, Uttar Pradesh, Lourdes, ancient temple ruins or great pyramids are places to which people from around the world will make pilgrimages just to experience the energy of the place. These are places where poignant events may have taken place, or where so many people-- dating back to ancient ancestors sometimes-- have come to worship for so long.

A question about these magical places is this: were people drawn to them because they were magical? Because there were ley lines? Because they were 'special' in some way? Or did they become more magical-- special-- because so many people have come to them, bringing and building that energy in that particular location?

Magic Happens

A good argument can be made for the latter. All of the Earth is sacred and magical. Originally, I don't believe there were single spots 'better' or 'more powerful' than other places. We changed that. My belief is that we were responsible for ley lines landing where they did-- the ley lines spread out across the planet in certain places because we drew that excess energy there, not the other way around. It reminds me of the brain's synapses making specific connections when certain stimuli is introduced.

Places became more energized or more powerful due to what took place there-- mainly, the kind of energy that man brought to it when our brains evolved enough to become aware of that which is spiritual, when we became able to think about it in new and abstract ways and manipulate energy. We visited it, held rites and rituals, came with hopes and dreams that we poured into that site. We stirred up the power in certain places, or we brought more to it and left it there.

My Disney Spell

Allow me to recount my own brief experience this week: my adult daughter has a chronic illness that causes her bouts great pain. The pain usually makes her unable to function, at least for days, if not for a week or two. Once it sets in there is usually nothing to do but sit back, make her comfortable and wait for days-- weeks-- until it subsides. Meds and treatments only take the edge off the pain so it's bearable. Healing spells can help, make it more bearable, temporarily, but usually once the pain takes its grip on her it's just a waiting game.

A few days into our trip, she began to experience terrible pain. She had to leave the park early that day, and I was wondering what I could do for her in the hotel room when I got back. I wanted to do a healing to bring some relief so she could enjoy some of the trip.

I realized the challenge would be that I didn't have any tools or supplies with me at all, and just as I wondered how I would go about it my husband bent over, picked an object up off the floor and held it out to me. It was a 3-inch quartz crystal. I took it as a sign and sent the boys (my husband and sons) off to dinner as I went back to the room to help my daughter. We transferred her pain to the crystal and put her to bed. The spell was so successful that by morning and for the rest of the trip she was completely fine.

The "Disney Effect" as Example

It's Disney trips that got me thinking that we make certain places more magical than others. 30,000 acres in what were not long ago simple swamp lands and citrus groves of Florida have been transformed into an enchanted place where miracles happen daily. Yes, it's a major corporation, it's commercial, it tries to milk you for every penny. I'm not arguing that.

But strangely, alongside all that consumerism and corporate greed, magic is happening. Just go on some Disney park message boards, grab a box of tissues and read through the stories. Children who families and doctors thought might never speak utter their first words at the sight of the castle or favorite character. Families missing deceased loved ones get signs from beyond, confirming their loved one is still with them. It's a place that makes you feel like anything is possible.

I'll admit, it got my mind swirling. I thought of tulpas-- beings conjured into reality through the sheer power of belief. All the people for so many decades putting their belief into Mickey Mouse, Tinkerbell, fairytale princesses-- could these beings actually exist, alive and well, on Disney property thanks to the collective energy of belief sent their way? When a Disney employee dons a costume, is she or he aspecting this entity, the way in ritual a priestess will draw down the Goddess into her?

I think Disney World is a modern example of how a place becomes magical-- hoards of people come and collectively conjure up powerful energy. This energy is infused in the very land, the air, the structures, and continues to mound. It creates a store that becomes an exchange-- a renewable source of energy. We come, we deposit it, we draw it, use it and redeposit it.

Creating Your Own Magical Space

I have always been a big fan of creating a sacred space of one's own, and these new thoughts have reinforced that belief. Whether working with a coven or as a solitary, I've always found it very beneficial to keep a permanent space set aside for worship, ritual and magical activities. It doesn't matter if it's indoors or outdoors; it doesn't matter if it's an entire room or just a dresser top.

When you have a specific sacred space set aside for spiritual experience, you are building your own special place for spirituality and magic. You are bringing and depositing energy, drawing that energy back from it and re-depositing it every time you use it, creating something of a pocket of stored energy which you can tap whenever you like. You don't need to take a pilgrimage to some ancient site across the sea, or visit a modern day theme park, or go camping in the wilderness to experience the build-up of such power; you can create it on your own.

If you haven't done so already, give it a try-- set some space aside and see if after 6 months or a year you notice a difference-- chances are, just walking by the place will make a person's psychic senses begin to tingle. You might even notice that guests, pets and even insects are drawn to it, and that your magic and spiritual rituals become more powerful through the repeated use of that space. Consider it a spiritual experiment and see what happens.

What an awesome experience, WiccanSage. So happy to hear that you were able to help your daughter so she could share the joy and excitement of the trip. I hope to take my own children there one day. We've discussed a trip there several times so maybe this is a hint to start planning? :) Beautiful story, thank you for sharing.

Thanks MysticMoonlight. My daughter is in her 20s and Wiccan as well, so the conversation about 'magical places' actually got started due to that spell, as we both felt quite a powerful impact that we attributed to the location. I hope you get your trip with your kids someday, it's not everyone's cup of tea I realize, but if it's something you are interested in experiencing it can be a pretty wonderful family vacation.

That was amazing how you helped your daughter wiccan, wonderful! And yes I do totally agree with you that maybe by putting on those costumes and renewing the energy of the people around you maybe those in costume do somehow bring the energy of the fairy or goddess to life. Places are so magical. I have been to Stonehenge and that leaves me tingling, but another one was a Church in Cyprus, called the Church of Lazarus. he was supposedly buried there after being let of by the romans, and the atmosphere was literally 'holy' 'magical'? I can't put words into it, it just hummed with vibrations. Another place was in Tenerife, there is a small spring halfway up the mountain Teide, there's a little shop thats next to the entrance and you walk down by the side of the shop and keep on going down one leg either side of this small spring. On the left is ancient cliffs, and the right trees and rocks. at the bottom is a waterfall. It was stunning, and I felt as though I had been taken back to a primordial space and time, it was amazing. Great hub, and I could go on writing this all night! lol! voted up and shared! loved it! nell

Thanks, Nell Rose, for sharing your experiences. It's true, certain places do hum and it's amazing to be in them and be part of them. Even if it's sacred from a different faith than your own, you can still feel the energy. Thanks for your comments!

Useful, helpful and interesting, what a great hub. I truly believe in spiritual spots/places and I don't always have to go beyond my doorstop. I encourage all who have not tried to or found their place or places of power to follow your advice. They will be amazed to find the results just waiting to be found. Be well and happy hubbing.

Very interesting WiccanSage. I am really glad the quartz was able to help your daughter and she could enjoy her holiday.

I totally believe in the presence of energy from people past, and present, and also the energy which exsists in the earth around us. Some places really are special and you can feel it when you visit them.

There is a place here on top of a tall ledge overlooking Long Island Sound. That to me is a very magical place. It is about 1 1/2 miles to that point, but then you just sit on the bench that's at the top and look out. It brings such peace. You seem to forget about everything when you are at that place.

I've never been to Disney, but would love to check it out. And I love the idea about creating a "magical space" I've been having some very strange spiritual growing pains the last 24'ish months and I think I'm going to do this. I have at least a little room where it wouldn't get disturbed. I also read recently that Chakra Ascension can cause animals to fear you (among other issues I'm having), my lovely cat Henry has been avoiding me/and flat out running away from me for at least 4 months, it makes me very sad and I'm trying hard to change this. Perhaps that space would help. Either way, who wouldn't benefit from a little magic? This world is quick to squash all that with its bad news! This was a positive read and a reminder to be perceptive of the magic at work and happening around us, and I love that!

Well, on a side note, I have to recommend Disney at least once. I realize it's not everyone's cup of tea, but if you're open to that kind of thing it's really cool. As for Henry-- sorry about your cat. Have you worked on meditations to learn how to open, close and balance those chakras yet? It may help give you & the kitty a break sometimes. It can be overwhelming. I'm glad you found something positive to inspire you here, thanks so much as usual for your very interesting comments!

Thanks! I would like to get to Disney one day, I love so many of the movies from childhood, and I'd like to take my stepson too. I think he'd go crazy over it. I'm working on the Chakra issue but I think my 5th is badly blocked. Each day more effort a little more progress. For now, I let Henry be and just tell him I love him and do all I can to reassure him. It's all very odd really. Very very odd. Maybe I could privately message you some happenings to get your thoughts on it all. I very much enjoy your hubs.
