The Safe Life
The Safe Life
“Lord, see my anguish ! My heart is broken and m soul despairs, for I have rebelled against you. In the streets the sword kills and at home there is only death.”
Lamentations 1:20
Living in disobedience, living apart from the will of God pays terribly. Though there are so much struggles, the safest way to live is still living inside the will of God. It is indeed very dangerous to live in disobedience.
Israel as a nation sinned terribly against God. They compromised their faith. They followed the ways of the pagan nations around them, for they thought that these things were good for them. The nations around them are strong and mighty, prosperous and progressive. Israel made allies with them , followed their ways believing in so doing will also bring greatness to them.
As Christians, we too tend to envy the people of the world. For many of them though living in sin are still enjoying prosperity, success and riches. We tend to compromise with them so that we too enjoy the same fate.
But choosing such path is very dangerous. For it invites the very wrath of God to come upon us as what happened to the nation Israel. They were subdued by their neighboring countries. The people of the world though prosperous are living in great danger, their lives are not protected. Desstruction could suddenly overtake them.
Living in obedience, inside the will of God is still the safest way to live. Though it is costly, it is difficult, it has many struggles, it is not that prosperous, it is not that pleasurable, it is not tat sophisticated. But you are indeed under the shadow of the protection of the Almighty.
