A Guide to the Seven Angels of the Apocalypse
And the first angel sounded...
It is meant to be understood!
While one is reading the events pertaining to the seventh seal found in John’s apocalypse, they will encounter a multitude of angels, and at first glance, they appear to be running amuck upon the inhabitants of our earth. Sometimes these angels are sounding trumpets, other times they are thrusting sickles into the harvest fields, and yet other times they are found pouring out vials of wrath upon the inhabitants of our earth. The reader will find angels shouting instructions, while others are proclaiming certain dooms day events in loud voices. They read about angels unlocking bottomless pits and loosening smoke and locusts, while other angels are preparing armies for war. Meanwhile, mountains burning with fire are being cast into the seas, rivers turning to blood, and hail and fire mingled with blood are burning up all of the trees. It’s no wonder one becomes lost while attempting to decipher the message John is delivering in his work we refer to as the Book of Revelation. Regardless of the maze these angels seem to create, it is given for you to understand John’s vision. Why else would John write, “Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear and understand the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand”. (Rev. 1:3)
Not only are we to read, we are to teach those who cannot, or are not able, to read and understand. John points this out quite clearly when he writes, “…and they that hear and understand…”. How else are they to hear except they are taught? It is by way of commandment that we, those who are capable of reading and understanding, are to teach those who are willing to hear that they may understand as well.
I wish to emphasize that I do not profess to be a prophet, nor am I a prophetic writer, thus you will not find any self proclaimed prophecies in my work. What you will find is a systematic approach to John’s work that will enable your understanding to be enlightened. And I have found that once you understand John’s work all the rest of the scriptures come alive. With that said, let us begin.
First, there are ten points of interest that, when observed and applied, will bring some order to these angels that seem to be flying around amuck causing havoc upon the inhabitants of our earth.
The First Point.
There are seven, and seven angels only that repeatedly appear over and over again throughout John’s work, and they are always the same seven angels. Whether they are found sounding trumpets, pouring out vials, or holding sharp sickles, they are always the same seven angels. If fact, what you will find is that each angel has been given a certain stewardship if you will. Please allow me to present a demonstration.
In Rev. 14:15, 17, 18 we read: “And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. Let's refer to this angel as angel #2.
And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle”. Let us refer to this angel as angel #3.
And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe”. Finally, let us refer to this last angel as angel #4.
What is of importance in the verses just quoted, in regards to this work, is angel #4 had power over "fire". Keeping that fact in mind let's read Rev. 16:8: “And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the "sun"; and power was given unto him to scorch man with "fire".” One more verse if you will. Rev. 8:12 we find John writing: “And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the "sun" was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise”.
We just found angel #4 in three different chapters of John’s work, chapters 8, 14, & 16, and in all three instances, angel #4 was consistently found in connection with "fire" or the "sun", suggesting that it is the same angel. It is the same with all seven angels. They each have their own connection, or perhaps stewardship would be the appropriate word to be using, and it is always the same.
Let us walk through the rest of these seven angels.
Angel #1: Angel #1 appears in Rev. 8:7 which reads: “The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon "the earth": and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.” Another appearance of angel #1 may be found in Rev. 16:2: “And the first went, and poured out his vial upon "the earth"; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.” In both verses just quoted the connection found with this angel is the “the earth”.
Angel #2: Now take a look at angel #2, which appears in Rev. 8:8: “And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the "sea": and the third part of the sea became blood;”. Angel #2 next appears in Rev. 16:3: “And the second angel poured out his vial upon the "sea" ; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the "sea".” Once again, note that this angel’s connection is the "sea".
Angel #3: Next would be angel #3, one of his appearances is found in Rev. 8:10-11: “And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the "rivers, and upon the fountains of waters"; and the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter”. This angel appears again in Rev. 16:4: “And the third angel poured out his vial upon the "rivers and fountains of waters"; and they became blood”. The connection with this angel is the "rivers and fountains of water".
Angel #4: We have already encountered and identified this angel with "fire and/or the sun". That being the case the next angel would be angel #5.
Angel #5: Angel #5's first appearance may be found in Rev. 9:1-11. Although John’s descriptive writing of this angel is rather lengthy (Rev. 9:1-11) for the time being let us be concerned with two of those verses, verses 4 & 11 of this chapter. “And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. And they had a "king" over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon”. This same angel appears again in Rev. 16:10 & 11. And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the "beast; and his kingdom" was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain, and blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.” The connection here is the "beast and his kingdom". Ironically, it was in the fifth seal where we found the beast receiving its ten crowns, or, in other words, keeping in mind the number ten represents completion, the beast completed its task, which was to bring about the apostasy of the Gospel of Christ. Coincidental? The decision is yours to make, but I doubt it was coincidental. To view the beast and its image (Click Here)
Angel #6: Likewise John’s writing of angel # 6 is rather lengthy as well (Rev. 9:13-21) and, for the time being, let us consider verses 13 & 14. “And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the "great river Euphrates".” Going now to Rev. 16:12 we read “And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the "great river Euphrates"; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.” Again, we can reason that John is writing about the same angel in both of those verses, the connection is the "great river Euphrates".
Angel #7:This angel # 7 is found in Rev. 10:1-7, however let us view verse 6 of this chapter which reads as follows; “And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be "time no longer”. We find this angel again in Rev. 16:17 which reads; “And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, "It is done.” Again, we are able to reason the connection with this angel is that a "certain timing to the end of things" as we know is about to take place. His stewardship would then be "time"
Regardless of whether these seven angels are blowing trumpets, pouring out vials, giving commands, or trusting in their sickles, they are always the same seven angels.
Thus we learn there are seven angels each having their own stewardship and when viewed collectively we find a picture begins to take place.
Angel 1 - the earth
Angel 2 - the sea
Angel 3 - the rivers and fountains of water
Angel 4 - the sun
Angel 5 - the beast
Angel 6 - the great river Euphrates
Angel 7 - time
The Third Point.
The seven archangels mentioned throughout John’s vision are not the same seven angels mentioned in Chapters 2 & 3 of John’s work. These two chapters consist of seven letters John was commanded to write to the seven churches in Asia Minor. The angels mentioned in each one of those seven letters represent the Bishops of those seven churches. Remember, John’s vision does not start until the 4th chapter in the Book Of Revelation.
The Second Point.
In the Hebrew celestial hierarchy of archangels, there are seven. The order from the first to the seventh in the hierarchy is presented as follows:
1. Michael the archangel
2. Gabriel the archangel
3. Raphael the archangel
4. Uriel the archangel
5. Raguel the archangel
6. Sariel the archangel
7. Jerahmeel the archangel
From the Apocryphal sources we learn that Raguel is known as Izidkiel, Sariel is known as Hanael, and Jerahmeel is known as Kepharel.
Through modern-day revelation we learn that Michael is Adam, and Gabriel is Noah
“He had dominion given him over every living creature. He is Michael the Archangel, spoken of in the scriptures. Then Noah, who is Gabriel; he stands next in authority to Adam in the priesthood” (History of the LDS Church, Vol. 3,p. 386).
The revelation given to Joseph Smith at Kirtland temple in Ohio on December 27, 1832 confirms that these seven angels are archangels. Quoting D&C 88:112 we read: “And Michael, the seventh angel, even the archangel, shall gather together his armies, even the host of heaven”.
It should be understood that the order of the hierarchy of the seven archangels is not the chronological order of their appearances in the Revelation of John. An example would be Michael is the first in authority of the hierarchy, but the seventh angel to sound his trump. Nor should we assume because Michael is the seventh, Gabriel (Noah) should be the sixth, Raphael the fifth, and so on. However, there is one thing we can be sure of, and that is there are seven archangels; likewise, there are seven dispensations, and there are seven millennia of earth’s temporal existence. Once again, the three sevens appear in John’s work.
The Fourth Point.
The one-third factor. What I am inviting you to understand is when the plan of salvation was presented to us in our per-existence and Satan with one third of the host of heaven were cast out of heaven, certain limitations were placed upon Satan and his followers by God, pertaining to the amount of destruction Satan would be allowed to bring about through the actions of carnally-minded bestial “kings and their kingdoms”. Satan, from the beginning, knew and accepted the fact that these limitations had been set. This is evident when John writes, “…he [Satan] knoweth that he hath but a short time”. Satan, and his host of hell, knew and accepted the fact that certain parameters were going to be set by God. And God set angels, even archangels, as guardians over each one of these parameters. Therefore, when we read, “the first angel sounded…and the third part of tress was burnt up”, it is not to be understood that the first angel destroyed a third part of our trees here on earth. Rather, that angel has been put in charge as to when and how much destruction Satan, through the actions of carnally-minded kingdoms, would be allowed to bring upon the Saints of God.
All seven archangels have been given a guardianship over us, however five out of these seven archangels have been put in charge of a limitation pertaining to this 1/3 factor set over the actions of Satan. These five archangels, with their guardianships over the 1/3 factor, can be found in the following scriptures.
· Angel #1 - 1/3 of the trees - Rev. 8:7
· Angel #2 - 1/3 of the seas - Rev. 8:8-9
· Angel #3 - 1/3 of the rivers - Rev. 8:10-11
· Angel #4 - 1/3 of the sun - Rev. 8:12
· Angel #6 - 1/3 of mankind - Rev. 9:18
The Sixth Point.
Although each archangel has his own mission to accomplish, they, collectively, are one in purpose. As we already understand, each of these seven archangels have their own dispensation, their own guardianship, their own trumps, vials, and keys. They have their own independent and separate assignment to accomplish. However, these angels are sent to signify the things that are shortly to come to pass. And as they do so signify, they testify to the theme of the plan of salvation, which is what the Book of Revelation is all about. What you are being invited to understand is the Book of Revelation is the plan of salvation, being presented to us, in its entirety, by John through the eyes of these seven archangels. Thus each archangel has duplicity of meaning and mission. They show us their part in unveiling the plan of salvation and, in so doing, testify of its truthfulness, thus reinforcing the theme of John’s vision. And that theme is good shall prevail and truth shall be triumphant in the end. This is the faith of the saints.
The Fifth Point.
Further more, these limitations are given to be signs of the times. When these limitations have been fulfilled, then we, the faithful watchers, will know that the sanctification of the earth has been completed, and it is time to bring to pass the salvation of mankind, or in other words, as the seventh archangel declared, “there is time no longer”. The question that every human being upon the face of our earth should be concerned with is: “There is time no longer for what?” The answer is quite simple. There is time no longer to repent. Either you have accepted the atoning sacrifice our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ, has made for each and every one of us, and you have been invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb, which, in reality, is the gathering of the celestial family, these are they whom shall inherit and govern the earth during the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ, or, sadly, you have rejected His gift and it is time for the parable of the ten virgins to be applied.
The Seventh Point.
The events John describes in his revelation are not in their proper order, as their chronologies would suggest. In chapter 11, John is making reference to an event that shall take place at the climax of the battle of Armageddon, and in the very next chapter John is describing an event that took place in our first estate, our pre-existence. These two events are definitely not listed in the order of their occurrences. This indicates that while one is reading John’s work, they will continually be moving forward and backward through the plan of salvation. Therefore, the need to structure the events in their proper order becomes evident.
The Eight Point.
There is an overlapping of events between the seals. In chapter 7, which would place us in the sixth seal, or from 1,000AD to 2,000AD, John begins this chapter by writing, “And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.” (Rev. 7: 1-3). These four angels John saw “standing on the four corners of the earth” are the same four archangels mentioned in chapter 8, which would place them in the seventh seal, from 2,000AD till 3,000AD. Notice that these four angels (in chapter 7) are told not to hurt the earth, nor the sea, nor the trees. Now notice in chapter 8 what John writes about those four angels.
· Angel 1. The first angel sounded…a 1/3 part of the trees was burnt up.
· Angel 2. The second angel sounded…and a 1/3 part of the sea became blood.
· Angel 3. The third angel sounded…a 1/3 part of the rivers became Wormwood.
· Angel 4. The fourth angel sounded…a 1/3 part of the sun was smitten.
The connection is this: the four angels in chapter 8 are given to hurt the earth, the trees, and the seas, which is what the four angels in chapter 7 are being held back from hurting. In fact, the four winds these four angels are holding in chapter 7 is the sounding of their four trumpets in chapter 8. What we are being presented here is the signs of the times for the saints to be watching for once the restoration of the Kingdom of God has taken place. Notice that the four angels are holding the four winds (which is the sounded of their four trumpets in chapter 8) until Elias, which is the angel ascended from the east, has accomplished his mission, or in other words, the gospel has been restored. Then are the signs of the times to be given.
One may look at it from this perspective. The restoration took place during the 1830s, which is in its proper seal, the sixth seal, being from 1,000AD to 2,000AD. According to John, after the restoration, angels should start sounded their trumpets, or in other words, the saints should be watching the signs of the times for the return of their Savior. That being the case, then these angels should already be sounding, so lets put it to the test, shall we?
Angel #1 reads as follows: “The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of the trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.” (Rev. 8:7) What we are to interpret here is this archangel has been given the stewardship of placing a limitation over Satan and his host as to how much damage the vegetation of our planet will receive through the carnal acts of bestial kings and their kingdoms. Now, I would like to ask you a question, do you think a large portion of our earth’s vegetation has been destroyed, (i.e.: our tropical rain forest) since the restoration of the Gospel of Christ? Before you answer that, let me put it to you in another way. To truly appreciate this archangel, and his guardianship, what we should be doing is taking a look at how plentiful and green our trees and forests were before the mid 1800’s, and then comparing that with the state our trees and forests are in today. Now, in that comparison, do you think the abundance of our forests and vegetation have depreciated rather sharply since the mid 1800’s than that of before hand? If you do, then guess what? You are suggesting angel #1 has already sounded, or is presently sounding. Rather scary, isn’t it?
Using the same time frame of comparison, let us look at the next few angels John writes about.
Angel #2 reads: “And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea; and the third part of the sea became blood; and the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed”. (Rev. 8:8 & 9) Now, let us ask ourselves this question. Has mankind, in his quest to conquer this plant destroyed a large portion of our oceans, or is in the process of destroying our oceans? With the amount of nuclear waste we have dumped into our oceans, in the harvesting of the sea’s fish, in the polluted rivers emptying their garbage into our oceans, in our oil spills, do you feel that perhaps we have destroyed a large part of our oceans? With the number of endangered species rising every year do you think that perhaps we are using up our ocean’s resources rather quickly? Are our oceans far more polluted now than they were 100 years ago? If your answer to these questions is yes, then, once again you are indicating that this angel, angel #2 has already sounded his trumpet as well.
Angel #3 reads: “And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.” (Rev. 8:10 & 11) Once again, it is time to ask ourselves, in man-kind’s quest to conquer our planet, have we neglected our water sources, polluted our rivers? Would you drink out of the Mississippi River? Fact is that most of our rivers through out the world today remain polluted and contaminated, unsafe for human consumption. This being the case, angel #3 has sounded his trumpet as well.
Why am I taking the time to go through each of these angels? Why not let the Prophet Joseph Smith answer this question? Going to D & C 77:12 we read: “What are we to understand by the sounded of the trumpets, mentioned in the 8th chapter of Revelation? We are to understand…the sounding of the trumpets of the seven angels are the preparing and finishing of his work, in the beginning of the seventh thousand years (that would place us at the beginning of the 21st century, or, in other words, today) the preparing of the way before the time of his coming.” (Parentheses added). I hope I am making the picture clear for you. The signs of the times we are to be watching for are passing right before our very eyes. Perhaps this is what Jesus meant when he said: “Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.” (Rev. 16:15)
As you can see, these seven archangels, or some of them, have been sounding their trumpets since the restoration of the gospel, meaning that some of the events of the sixth seal are carrying over into the seventh seal. But, make no mistake about it: we are in the seventh seal.
Time is at hand, and soon there will be time no longer.
The Ninth Point.
These seven archangels can be observed as two distinct and separate groups: Group A consisting of angels 1–4 and Group B consisting of angels 5, 6, & 7. Both John the Revelator and the prophet Joseph Smith make references to these two groups of the seven angels. Let us observe the writings of John first. We find John placing angels 1-4 in chapter 8, and before he writes about the rest of the angels he writes: “And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe to the inhibitors of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound” (Rev. 8:13). Notice also the first four angels are governing things, such as the earth, the trees, the oceans, the rivers, the sun and the moon. Angels 5-7 are governing events, which directly impact the human race, or a part of the human race, such as those who have the mark of the beast. To gain a sound understanding of the mark of the beast "click here".
Comparing this thought with that of Joseph Smith we find Joseph writing this: “What are we to understand by the sounding of the trumpets, mentioned in the eight chapter of Revelation? (That would be angels 1-4) We are to understand that as God made the world in six days, and on the seventh day he finished his work, and sanctified it, and also formed man out of the dust of the earth, even so, in the beginning of the seventh thousand years will the Lord God sanctify the earth, and complete the salvation of man, and judge all things, and shall redeem all things, except that which he hath not put into his power, when he shall have sealed all things, unto the end of all things; and the sounding of the trumpets of the seven angels are the preparing and finishing of his work, in the beginning of the seventh thousand years – the preparing of the way before the time of his coming”.(D&C 77:13 Parentheses added)
In Joseph writings, the separation appears twice. The first separation is found in the words “…sanctify the earth, and complete the salvation of man…”, the second is found in the words “…are the preparing and finishing…”. Let us look at Joseph’s writing in this perspective: the phrases “sanctify the earth” and “the preparing” relate to angels 1-4 while the phrases “complete the salvation of man” and “finishing” relate to angels 5-7.
Two distinct and different job descriptions: group A sanctifies the earth while group B completes the salvation of mankind, suggesting the occurrences of these two groups would take place at different times in the continuum of earth’s temporal existence, which is confirmed by Joseph Smith in the following verses. In D&C 77:10 we read (Q)“What time are the things spoken of in this chapter (chapter 7) to be accomplished [this would be angels 1-4]? (A) They are to be accomplished in the sixth thousand years, or the opening of the sixth seal”. The sixth seal would be from 1,000ad to 2,000ad. In D&C 77:13 we read (Q) “When are the things to be accomplished, which are written in the ninth chapter of Revelation [this would be angels 5-7]? (A) They are to be accomplished after the opening of the seventh seal, before the coming of Christ”. John introduces the archangels in the sixth seal, and in the seventh seal we see them taking charge over their individual stewardship's. Once again we are able to see this overlapping of events from one seal to the next.
OK, let’s do something here. Let’s apply some of these points to a few verses to see if they are beneficial in assisting our understanding of John’s work. In Rev. 7:12-3 we read: “And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it is given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. ”
1. As previously discussed the “four angels” are the first four archangels.
2. “Holding the four winds” should be understood that they (the first four archangels) have not, as of yet, applied their stewardship's over the earth, they have not sounded their trumpets. .
3. “Another angel ascending from the east” This is the archangel who is in charge of ushering in his dispensation. He is Elias.
4. “Having the seal of the living God” By what power are sealing performed? By the power of the priesthood, “having the seal of the living God,” means this angel has the keys to perform the sealing ordinances of the Melchizedek Priesthood. He is the overseer of the restoration of that power, which is the restoration of the priesthood.
5. “Ascending”: Not descending out of heaven but ascending from earth, meaning angel five mission has been accomplished, the priesthood has been restored. And now it is given for us to watch for the signs of the times.
What we are to understand from these three verses is this: the archangels which are in charge of the signs of the times are being told not to give these signs until after the priesthood has been restored to the earth. Now, with that understanding established, it is time to ask “why”. Why, one might ask, are these four archangels “holding the four winds of the earth” (waiting to sound their trumpets)? Let us remember these first four angels are the signs for the faithful watchers, the Saints of our God, to be watching for, because they usher in the millennium. In order for the ushering in of the millennium to commence the restoration of the priesthood must first take place. Why? Because it is the power of the priesthood that allows these sealings to take place. This is the dispensation of the gathering of the celestial family, those who “shall descend with Christ” (D&C 88:98), those who shall “return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked”. (Mal 3:18) This is the dispensation all of our forefathers having been waiting for. Why have our progenitors been waiting for this dispensation? This is the dispensation where we (and our forefathers) will “have right to the tree of life” (Rev. 22:14). And just what does having “the right to the tree of life” mean? It means for those who receive the “seal of God in our foreheads”[these are they who have received the priesthood and have attended the endowments and sealings for themselves and their families, and have or are enduring to the end, thus making them trees of righteousness, then they are to receive the eternal inherited blessings that have become available to them through the atoning sacrifice our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ, made. It is “to eat of the tree of life which is in the midst of the paradise of God” (Rev. 2:7); it is to receive “a crown of life”…and “not be hurt by the second death” (Rev. 2:10-11); it is to receive a “white stone, and in the stone a new name written” (Rev. 2:17); it is to have “power over the nations” [this is the gathering of the celestial family we have been talking about that shall descend with Him and rule the earth during the millennium] (Rev. 2:26); it is to be “clothed in white raiment” and have your name confessed before “God and his angels” (Rev. 3:5); it is to have Christ “write upon [you his] new name” (Rev. 3:12), and to sit down with Christ in his throne, and with Heavenly Father and all of the eternal generations as we discussed in seal 7 (Rev. 3:22). It is to have your Book of Life drafted into our Heavenly Father’s Book of Life. This is what the Gospel of Christ is all about. Families are eternal. And, as discussed in Point #8, most of these angels have already sounded, meaning the ushering in of the millennium has already commenced. One more “why” question if you will. First, one will find six of the twenty-one chapters of John’s work dedicated to these seven archangels; over one forth of his work is focused upon these seven archangels, which would lead one to think the message these archangel are sending must be of great importance to the Adamic family.. With that fact in our minds, let’s ask ourselves: Why are the stewardship's of these archangels of such great importance? We find the answer to that question in Malachi: “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come a smite the earth with a curse.” (Mal. 4:5 & 6) We get a more in-depth rendition of this prophecy and its curse in D&C 98: 16 & 17: “Therefore, renounce war and seek peace, and seek diligently to turn the hearts of the children to their fathers, and the hearts of the fathers to the children; And again, the hearts of the Jews unto the prophets, and the prophets unto the Jews; lest I come and smite the whole earth with a curse, and all flesh be consumed before me.” We, by way of commandment, are to seek diligently the records of our ancestors and prepare them to be with us in the gathering of the celestial family prior to His second coming. Should these seven archangels have failed in their stewardship our world, as we know it, would be no more, all flesh would have been consumed at His coming. However, they did not fail in their missions. The sealing power of the priesthood is once again upon the face of the earth and the way has been prepared for us to seek diligently and prepare the way for our fathers. This is why they [our fathers] have been waiting for this dispensation, and now it is here. Now it is up to us. And soon there will be time no longer. See the beauty of John’s vision? Once you understand John’s work, all of the rest of the scriptures come alive with meaning and value, which is what the beast tried to hide when he brought about the apostasy.
The Tenth Point.
As one reads John’s apocalypse and attempts to mentally picture what the future of our world will be like during the days of these angels pouring out their vials of wrath upon the wicked, events equivalent to biblical proportion begin to come to mind, such as the struggle which took place between Moses and Pharaoh. Perhaps the sounding of the first angel is meant to bring us into remembrance of those days. Could it be that those days, the days of Moses and the tribulation which took place then is a type, a foreshadow, of things to come to pass? Perhaps a comparison between the wrath of God being pouring out on the Egyptians during the days of the House of Israel being in bondage to Egypt and the things that shall surely come to pass during the days of the seventh seal should be examined. In our attempt to reconstruct the days of Moses, let us keep count of the number of acts God brought against Pharaoh and his kingdom, and in so doing we will find numerology, once again, will come to life. With that thought in mind, let us begin. Keep in mind the number seven represents perfection and ten represents completion.
“And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the Lord had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and his servants, and it became a serpent. Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods” (Ex. 7:10-12). There is so much to mentally grasp here. Within this first act there is an example, a prelude if you will, as to how Satan acts. He is the great mimicker. However, there are always limitations placed upon his ability to mimic. This is why evil will never prevail. Lies cannot stand against the test of time. Only truth is eternal. And this is what Pharaoh was not able to understand because of the hardness of his heart. This is John’s warning in his apocalypse. Evil may, and will, try to deceive us by means of mimicry, but evil will never prevail, truth can only prevail. This is the faith of the saints. A perfect example of this is brought to life in John’s work. We have learned that the beast is the history of seven kings, which brought about the apostasy of the Gospel of Christ. As soon as the apostasy had been accomplished Satan brings about the image of the beast, which is his attempt to mimic the Gospel of Christ by establishing a multitude of man-made doctrines. John in his vision, exposes Satan’s mimicking attempt to veil the truth through Satan’s beast and image of the beast, and then John assures us that good will prevail by prophesying the restoration of the true Gospel of Christ upon the face of our earth again during our time. And sure enough, the Gospel of Christ has been restored. Evil did not win then, and it will never will. This is the faith of the Saints. Let us continue on.
“And Moses and Aaron did so, as the Lord Commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants, and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood. And the fish that was in the river died, and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt. And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments: and Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, neither did he hearken unto them; as the Lord had said” (Ex. 7:20-22).
Once again we find Pharaoh’s magicians able to mimic the act, but were unable to turn the blood back to water. Now notice how many days this river of blood was to last. “And seven days were fulfilled, after the Lord had smitten the river” (Ex. 7:25). Seven, the number of perfection.
“And Aaron stretched out his hand over Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt. And the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt” (Ex. 8:6-7). And as before, the magicians were able to mimic this act as well, but were unable to bring a halt to their own enchantment because Pharaoh had to ask Moses to “entreat the Lord, that he may take away the frogs…” (Ex. 8:8).
“And the Lord said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod, and smite the dust of the land, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt. And they did so; for Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and smote the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and in beast; all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt. And the magicians did so with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but could not…”(Ex. 8:16-18).
Point of interest: A limitation had just been placed. Just like the limitations placed on Satan by the first four archangels in John’s vision we now find that same limitation being placed on Pharaoh and his magicians. They, Pharaoh’s magicians, no longer were able to mimic the acts of God. Interesting enough, this limitation comes into effect after the third act. The number 3 represents “deity”. Pharaoh, in his quest for deity, finds the first limitation being placed upon his kingdom. Actually, the limitation was placed on Satan through the bestial acts of his kings and kingdoms. Again, this is a type of things to come. Due to this limitation being placed, let us refer to this act as Act #4 – Plague #1, and number the following acts accordingly.
Act #5 – Plague #2
“Else, if thou wilt not let my people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies upon thee, and upon the servants, and upon thy people, and into their houses: and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they are. And I will sever in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I am the Lord in the midst of the earth. And I will put a division between my people and thy people: tomorrow shall the sign be” (Ex. 8:21-23).
Point of interest: A line of demarcation has just been drawn. All of the people in the land of Egypt were afflicted by the first four acts. However, here in this act only Pharaoh and his people are being afflicted. We find this same line of demarcation being drawn in John’s work as well. The first four angels afflict our earth, and all of the inhabitants thereof, after that, only those who have the mark of the beast are afflicted. The similarity between the days of Moses and the writings of John are staggering, even to the numbering of the events. Truly, the days of Moses and Pharaoh are a type of things to come to pass, as John indicates in his work.
One more point to notice. Notice how many days it took to be rid of this plague. “We will go three day’s journey into the wilderness…”(Ex. 8:27). Three represents the number used for Deity.
Act #6 – Plague #3
“Then the Lord said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me. For if thou refuse to let them go, and wilt hold them still, Behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thy cattle which is in the field, upon the horses, upon the asses, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep: there shall be a very grievous murrain. And the Lord shall sever between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt: and there shall nothing die of all that is the children’s of Israel. And the Lord appointed a set time, saying, Tomorrow the Lord shall do this thing in the land. And the Lord did that thing on the morrow, and all the cattle of Egypt died; but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one.”(Ex. 9: 1-5).
Act #7 – Plague #4
“And the Lord said unto Moses and unto Aaron, Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the heaven in the sight of Pharaoh. And it shall become small dust in all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt. And they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward heaven; and it became a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast. And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boil was upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians.” (Ex. 9:8-11)
Act #8 – Plague #5
“Behold, to morrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the foundation therefore even until now. And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the Lord rained hail upon the land of Egypt. So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field.” (Ex. 9: 18; 23-25)
Act #9 – Plague #6
“And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the Lord brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts. And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coast of Egypt: very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such. For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, throughout all the land of Egypt.” (Ex. 10:13-15
Act #10 – Plague #7
As we venture forth into this last plague, let’s begin by acknowledging where we are in the numerology scheme of things. This is the tenth act and the seventh plague. Keep in mind seven represents perfection, and ten represents completion. With that thought in mind, let us continue.
“And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days (there is that number three again). They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwelling.” (Ex. 10:22-23)
It is time to put things in their proper perspective.
First: Pharaoh and his people have no light. In fact darkness has engulfed them. Darkness so thick the people would not move from their place of being. A fear has overcome them. For three days they are left completely alone. Try to picture what must be going through Pharaoh’s minds. He, Pharaoh, the ruler over one of the mightiest nations of the earth at that time is watching his kingdom being defeated and smitten left and right, over and over again, leaving him completely helpless. And now fear has overcome him and his people to such an extent that they will not even move from where they sit. Any hope of redemption has been completely removed from their minds. And they are left in this state for three days and nights. The line of demarcation has been drawn. These two numbers, seven being perfection and ten being completion, seal Pharaoh’s fate.
The interpretation of the writing on the wall during the feast of Belshezzar’s 1,000 Lords (Dan. 5:9-25) could very well be applied to Pharaoh and his kingdom. “MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. “Mene” being interpreted as “God hath numbered thy kingdom (10 acts and 7 plagues), and finished it. “Tekel” being interpreted as “Thou art weighed in the balances, and are found wanting”. For Pharaoh it is as if the seventh angel has sounded and there is “time no longer”. “And it came to pass, that at midnight the Lord smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captives that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle” (Ex. 10:24). In all of his earthly greatness, there was nothing Pharaoh could do.
Second: It is time to personalize things. Soon the seventh angel will be sounding his trumpet and there will be time no longer, for the great and dreadful day of the Lord will be upon us. At that moment, when the veil is lifted and we are watching the gathering of the celestial family, it will be great for some of us, and for others, it will be dreadful. For those who have the seal of God in their foreheads it will be like the days of Moses when the House of Israel is leaving Egypt, as one big family, and are heading for the promised land. And for those, which do not have the seal of God, then these are they that have the mark of the beast upon them, because they have not allowed, or accepted, our Heavenly Father’s gift which is His Son’s atoning sacrifice. This refusal of acceptance denies them the right to inherent the eternal blessings made available through our Lord’s atonement, which would have allowed them and their families to be included in such a great event as the gathering of the celestial family. For them there is time no longer and they will be likened unto the days of Pharaoh, for the seal of Pharaoh will be upon them. Could a more perfect picture ever be painted than the one that is given to us by the prophet Malachi when he writes, “For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.” (Mal. 4:1)?
Could there be any thought more dreadful, more fearful, than the thought of one’s family having to watch such a great event as the gathering of the celestial family must surly be, only to learn they are not to be included, and then they come to understand that something could have been done to prevent them from experiencing such a dreadful thing. Surly I can think of none. To think that I could have given such a wonderful gift to all of my family, a gift that allowed them and I to be together forever, and due to my own disbelieve and worldly desires, due to the fact that I would not heed the warnings that came into my life, just like Pharaoh did not heed the warnings that came into his life, I lost the opportunity, the honor, to give them such a gift. And then to know that I have to live with that thought forever. I believe hell has just been given its description. I am so grateful to have been given an understanding of the sounding of this angel and have been brought back into remembrance of the days of Moses and the House of Israel during their days of bondage to Pharaoh. Yes, their days of bondage to Pharaoh must have been hard, just like our days of mortality are hard, but in the end just like the arrival in the Promised Land must have been glorious for them, so shall it be for us, when we get to embrace our celestial family. This is the faith of the Saints.
There is another comparison we can explore and it is founded in the sounding of the trumpet of the third angel. “And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of water. And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter” (Rev. 8:10-11). Although this is one of the four angels which usher in the millennium, meaning that the event describe here will, and actually is, taking place right now, John is also bringing us into remembrance of yet another event which has already taken place. He is bringing us into remembrance of our first estate and the war that took place in our pre-existence. “And there was a war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” (Rev. 12:7-9) The question we should be asking ourselves is what is the significance of John bringing us back into remembrance of our first estate? What does John what us to grasp here? Let’s approach it this way. It is apparent that Elias’ mission is to open the final dispensation of earth’s temporal existence. This is the fullness of times spoken of by so many of the prophets of old. And the final dispensation has begun. Both Elias and Elijah appeared April 3, 1836. The fullness of times is here, on earth, right now. Likewise, just as the fullness of times is here, there must be something else here, on earth, right now. Why? There must be opposition in all things (2 Nephi 2:11). Thus we begin to see a war between Angel #5 and Satan’s beast. This would imply that the war between God’s saints and Satan’s beast would escalate to a new height. If God’s everlasting Gospel has been restored, then Satan will be bringing about a new ‘ploy’. A new phase of destruction, and, you can bet, it will be to the fullness of his capability.
First, let us recognize the similarity between the soundings of the third and fifth angels.
· Angel #3: …and there fell a great star from heaven….” (Rev. 8:9)
· Angel #5: …and I saw a star fall from heaven…” (Rev. 9:1)
In the scriptures we are able to confirm that there were spirits foreordained, before the foundations of the earth were created, to become great leaders of the children of men during their temporal stays here on earth. The names of the likes of Adam, Enoch, Moses, Abraham, and Joseph come to mind instantly, implying that these men were valiant spirits in their first estate, being set in charge of certain destinies upon their arrivals here on earth, strongly committed to helping to bring to pass the works of God and the plan of salvation.
Likewise, when Lucifer and a third part of the host of heaven kept not their first estate, and were cast down into the earth, there must of have been some spirits strongly committed to helping Lucifer in bringing to pass his plan of destruction. I believe this is one of those angels John is describing when he writes, “…and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth…” (Rev. 9:1) That this angel is a “general” over Satan’s army cannot be denied when we read, “And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Appolyon.” (Rev. 9:11) Whoever he is, what becomes abundantly clear is that he is about to unleash a new “ploy” of Satan on the inhabitants of the earth. In all actuality, we already know this new “ploy” has been unleashed. We know this because Joseph Smith informs us that the sounding of trumpets 5 & 6 “are to be accomplished after the opening of the seventh seal, before the coming of Christ.” (D&C 77:13)
The key word here is “accomplished”, as in completed. Not when does this new ploy start, but rather, when shall be it done. Or, in fine, when shall it be in full effect. According to both John the Revelator and the Prophet Joseph Smith it should be in full effect right now, as in today. It is happening now!!!!
With all of this said, let us begin to understand the message of this fifth angel.
“And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit: and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.” (Rev. 9:1 & 2)
As previously discussed, the opening of these two verses introduces the concept that one of Satan’s followers has been put in charge of his new ploy. The very next thing we encounter is smoke, “as the smoke of a great furnace”. Have you ever sat around a campfire and had smoke get in your eyes? What happens? Your eyes get all watery and your vision becomes obscured. Smoke clouds one’s ability to see clearly, or perhaps, remembering John’s writings are symbolic, smoke limits one’s ability to think clearly.
Focusing next on what John has to say, he writes that the “sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit”. The sun and the air, which is the very essence of life here on this planet, are being hid be reason of the smoke. Here comes the most important question ever. What is the essence of you life? Would it be your children, your spouse, your family? Would they be the very essence of your life?
If I’m not making the picture very clear for you yet, let me put it to you this way.
1. What is the Book of Revelation all about? It’s about the plan of salvation.
2. What is the Plan of Salvation all about? It’s about eternal families.
3. What was restored in this final dispensation? The sealing power of the priesthood.
4. What does the sealing power of the priesthood do? It seals your loved ones to you forever.
5. What would Satan love to destroy? Your family!!!
6. How is Satan destroying families is this final dispensation? By reason of the smoke.
What it’s coming down to is all of those who embark or partake of this destructive angel’s smoke shall lose sight of the purpose of their life, which just happens to be families are forever.
Supportively, is the name of Satan’s angel, which happens to be Abaddon. The name Abaddon is of Hebrew origin denoting ‘the place of the lost’, and translates into ‘destruction’. The application of this angel’s name would fittingly be “to become lost and in jeopardy of eternal destruction”.
So, the big question is what is this smoke all about. And, as always, the answer is right before us. Let’s ask ourselves a few questions here. What is it that abounds on earth right now that would obscure one’s sight as to the purpose of life? What is it that would cause one to lose their family? What is it that would cloud ones capability to think clearly, to be able to reason effectively? What is it that would cause one to be “lost” as to the direction of their family’s eternal progression? What is it that would be in direct conflict with the purpose of the sealing power of the priesthood? And remember, what ever it is, it has to be happening now, today. Does the word drug abuse come to mind? Hold that thought for just a moment and let’s read another verse from John’s vision. “And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.” (Rev. 9:3) Firstly, let’s mentally develop a picture of the damage a swarm of locusts would do to a farmers harvest. There would be nothing left. All of the sustaining goodness his harvest would have yielded would be gone. His crops stripped to nothing. There is nothing more devastating to our earth’s vegetation that a swarm of locusts.
The locusts John is describing in his vision, these are they who are partakers of the “smoke”. These are they who are lost as to the meaning of life. These are they whose vision has been obscured by reason of the smoke. These locusts are those people whose lives are entirely given in to the drug of their choice. And, just like real locusts, which strip the earth of all of its life-sustaining goodness, so are these locusts stripped from the very sustaining goodness of their life, which is their family. Unfortunately, drug abuse is far more reaching than just the user. It affects everyone they come in contact with. Billions of dollars are spent annually combating this new ‘ploy’ Satan has unleashed. Families are devastated, broken, and forgotten. The eternal links are broken. And, sadly, most of the time, never mended. So many children being born into dysfunctional homes, never having the chance to learn who their biological parents are, let only never learning of the plan of salvation. Satan’s new ploy is in full affect!!!
Seeing through the eyes of the Angels
At this point I would like to share with you a scriptural approach to these seven archangels as seen through the eyes of the four canons.
AND THE FIRST ANGEL SOUNDED…
“Speaking of the resurrection of the dead, concerning those who shall hear the voice of the Son of Man:” (D&C 76:16)
"And shall come forth; they who have done good, in the resurrection of the just; and they who have done evil, in the resurrection of the unjust.” (D&C 76:17)
“And there shall be silence in heaven for the space of half an hour; and immediately after shall the curtain of heaven be unfolded, as a scroll is unfolded after it is rolled up, and the face of the Lord shall be unveiled.” (D&C 88:95)
“And then shall appear the signs of the Son of Man in heaven: And then shall all tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son on Man, coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” (Matt. 24:30)
“For the day cometh that the Lord shall utter his voice out of heaven; the heavens shall shake and the earth shall tremble, and the trump of God shall sound both long and loud, and shall say to the sleeping nations: Ye saints arise and live; Ye sinners stay and sleep until I shall call again.” (D&C 43:18)
“And he shall send his angels with the sound of a great trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” (Matt. 24:31)
“For a trump shall sound both long and loud, even as upon Mt. Sinai, and all the earth shall quake, and they shall come forth – yea, even the dead which died in me, to receive a crown of righteousness, and be clothed upon, that we may be one.” (D&C 29:13)
“And the saints that are upon the earth, who are alive, shall be quickened and caught up to meet him.” (D&C 88:96)
“Then shall two be in the field; the one be taken, and the other left.” (Matt. 24:40)
“Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.” (Matt 24:41)
“And they who have slept in their graves shall come forth, for their graves shall be opened; and they also shall be caught up to meet him in the midst of the pillar of heaven.” (D&C 88:97)
“The paradise of God must deliver up the spirits of the righteous, and the grave deliver up the body of the righteous, and the spirit and the body is restored to itself again, and all men become incorruptible, and immortal, and they are living souls, having a perfect knowledge like unto us in the flesh, save it be that our knowledge shall be perfect.” (2 Nephi 9:13)
“They are Christ’s, the first fruits, they who shall descend with him first, and they who are on the earth and in their greaves, who are first caught up to meet him…” (D&C 88:98)
“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” (3 Nephi 12:5)
“…and this is the testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ concerning them who shall come forth in the resurrection of the just.” (D&C 76:50)
“They are they who received the testimony of Jesus, and believed on his name and were baptized after the manner of his burial, being buried in the water in his name, and this according to the commandment which he has given. That by keeping the commandments they might be washed and cleansed from all their sins, and receive the holy spirit by the laying on of hands of him who is ordained and sealed unto this power, And who overcome by faith, and are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise, which the Father sheds forth upon all those who are just and true.” (D&C 76: 51-53)
“They are they who are the church of the Firstborn.” (D&C 76:54)
“They are they whose hands the Father has given all things.” (D&C 76:55)
“They are they who are priests and kings, who have received of this fullness, and of his glory.” (D&C 76:56)
“And are priest of the Most High, after the order of Melchizedek, which was after the order of Enoch, which was after the order of the Only Begotten Son.” (D&C 76:65)
“To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.” (Rev. 2:7)
“These shall dwell in the presence of God and his Christ forever and ever.” (D&C 76:62)
“And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations.” (Rev. 2:26)
“These are they whom he shall bring forth with him, when he shall come in the clouds of heaven to reign on the earth over his people.” (D&C 76:63)
“He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.” (Rev. 2:11)
“These are they who shall have part in the first resurrection.” (D&C 76:64)
“Blessed and holy are they who have part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.” (Rev. 20:6JST)
“Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out.” (Rev. 3:12)
“These are they who are come unto Mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly place, the holiest of all.” (D&C 76:66)
“He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment, …” (Rev. 3:5)
“These are they who have come to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly of the church of Enoch, and of the firstborn.” (D&C 76:67)
“And he that overcometh, I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.” (Rev. 3:5)
“These are they whose names are written in heaven, where God and Christ are the judge of all.” (D&C 76:68)
“These are they who are just men made perfect through Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, who wrought out this perfect atonement through the shedding of his own blood.” (D&C 76:69)
“To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the new stone a new name written, which no man knoweth save he that receiveth it.” (Rev. 2:17)
“And a white stone is given to each of those who come into the celestial kingdom, wherein a new name written, which no man knoweth save he that receiveth it. The new name is the key word.” (D&C 130:11)
“Then the white stone mentioned in Rev. 2:17, will become a Urim and Thummin to each individual who receives ones …” (D&C 130:10)
“This earth, in its sanctified immortal state, will be made like unto crystal and will be a Urim and Thummin to the inhabitants who dwell thereon, whereby all things pertaining to an inferior kingdom, or all kingdoms of a lower order, will be manifest to those who dwell on it; and this earth will be Christ’s.” (D&C 130:9)
“…whereby things pertaining to a higher order of kingdoms will be made known.” (D&C 130:10)
“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my father in his throne.” (Rev. 3:21)
“These are they whose bodies are celestial, whose glory is that of the sun, even the glory of God, the highest of all, whose glory the sun of the firmament is written as being typical.” (D&C 76:70)
“Wherefore it is written, they are Gods, even the sons of God.” (D&C 76:58)
“Wherefore, all things are theirs, whether life or death, or things present, or things to come, all are theirs, and they are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.” (D&C 76:59)
“And then shall the angels be crowned with the glory of his might, and the saints, shall be filled with his glory, and receive their in heritance and be made equal with him.” (D&C 88:107)
“And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. (Malachi 3:17)

(These three frogs are three lies that the dragon [Satan] shall spread across the earth which shall lead many souls away from the Gospel of Christ.) I believe John's work, The Book Of Revelation, is by far the greatest masterpiece of work ever submitted to the human race, and could only have come about just as John describes to his readers, that an angel came to him and showed him the things he writes about. I also believe it is one of the easiest compositions to understand. I have approached his work in four different writings and each of these are available to anyone, free of charge.
