The Spells of Rebellion

1 Samuel 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.
1 Samuel 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.

1 Samuel 15:23a
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.

I have found that rebellious and judgmental people only look to their own understanding, their own perspective. They refuse to listen to reason and are blinded to the truth. No wonder God’s Word compares rebellion to witchcraft. In their insistence that their actions are justified, the rebellious cast spells on those around them who are weaker, adding them to their sinful campaign. When Godly men rebuke them, they leave in anger, arrogantly pointing their fingers, taking all those who are under their spell with them.

The next time you find yourself looking at your authorities in a critical and judgmental way, ask yourself have you been bewitched or are you the one casting spells? Are you allowing rebellion to dictate your actions and make you blind to your sin? Never fling grace and mercy away from you and embrace humility, make sure he is always in your company. In this way you will guard against the spells of rebellion Submitting yourselves one to another in love and holiness just as Christ did for us.

Love rebukes, which means to honor - it's obvious when the one rebuked in love becomes hostile and judgmental, all the while cannot judge themselves or see the error of their ways. Sometimes we can't help another who is in rebellion - only when the consequences of their behavior manifests, MIGHT they listen...rebellion is a stronghold only God can break. God bless.

Ephesians 4:14-24 " Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Instructions for Christian Living

17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.

20 That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

There is precious little to add. God's Word seems always to be final and complete for those who will hear it and bind it to their hearts. Good hub bub!
