The Wounded Healer, EFT and Musings

EFT-Try It On Everything!"

I have been working with EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to address an emotional issue I developed without my being aware of it consciously, after my nephew passed away. EFT involves tapping the acupuncture meridian points while bringing up memories and releasing them, and this rebalances our energy system and thus our overall health.

The results even if critics says its a placebo effect are in the miracles category, folks with diabetes get healed, war veterans with PTSD symptoms can feel free of torment which not even psychotherapy could alliviate.

My EFT counselor, Jodi Mcdonald who was one of the participants in the EFT movie "Try It On Everything", was healed of fibromyalgia after having it for 15 years, and released a writer's block that lasted over 30 years, and enabled her to write and publish not only one but three books in two months! If that's a placebo effect then I want it.

I realize I suppressed my emotions to be able to better help my sister and to be "together," well no more. I have cried like a baby, raged, protested, said a few choice words and then I have surrendered to that part of myself, that understands the spirit lives on forever.

Working with EFT, I am coming to the realization that while there are many healing modalities to assist us all, the most important is having the ability to see with clarity that we are so much more than what our five senses tells us, and to trust in the perfection of the Divine/Source/Life/God, whatever we wish to call it.

We are literally creators of our reality. What we harbor within shows up in our reality, the finances we experience, the health, the relationships all are flavored with the energy inside our minds. It is for this reason, modalities such as energy work or body work often create miracles in the quality of the life of the recipients

The video I am about to share is not only for those who are in the healing field, its for everyone, as we ALL have the opportunity to be healers at one point or another. It can be giving a shoulder for someone to cry on, a kind word, a word of encouragement, the financial help at the nick of time, writing the timely email or article, or just being there while your friend, significant other or stranger unburdens.

The message of the video reminds us, that when life give us rites of passage, loss, illness, even spiritual turmoil, it teaches us empathy and compassion, and we become healers who come form the heart and not just the mind. This is the essence of what a "wounded healer" means.

All healing, for self and for the world starts from the heart as the heart center is what connects us all.

May the path of wholeness be there for each and everyone of us, so we do not only tolerate life, but embrace it fully!

woW ... WOW ... what a great hub! The vid was great too ... May you get the courage to heal. The EFT reminds me of a movie where a girl asks a doctor to remove memories of her ex from her mind...

Was interesting for me to study more on Chiron and where it is placed in my astrology chart. I use Inner Space Techniques to source traumas, (sounds a similar concept to EFT.) and the more I could delve into my internal self the more I could see the wounds within the place where Chiron is. There and a few other places too!

But I'm not into erasing anything, memories and experiences make up who we are.

The movie is 'Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind'. It stars Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet. Enjoy! :)

Jewels: Have not heard of Inner Space Techniques, will check it out as I love to learn about healing modalities, and I agree, memories are part of who we are.

Nazishnasim: Thanks for the title, will check it out!

EFT is great technique, I vote for transformations of traumas - always.

Thanks for the video, I understand it very well. He, he, to be even more interesting, Chiron in conjunction with Saturn are main keys of my horoscope and they interact with almost all planets in it...in order to heal my own bunch of traumas, I had  to learn various ways how to do it and heal the others, as well....

Love and light!!!

Tatjana: You are one of the healers I thought of when I wrote this hub and shared the video, makes sense one has to experience self healing to be an effective healers for others. I checked the modality Jewels mentioned "Inner Space Techniques", and wow, it sounds like something I would resonate with, kinda more powerful than EFT as it adds deep meditation and has a more spiritual approach.

Much Love and light to you!

It's amazing how we can develop emotional issues without us being consciously aware of it. Good to know there is help!

I've been wanting to read up on EFT but just haven't found the time to do so yet! So thanks much VioletSun for this introduction!

I found it very interesting and a great video explaining we can all be healers. I think we all know how good it feels when we are overburdened to have someone hear us out without interrupting. This is a simple yet powerful way to help others!

Dottie:  I do think when someone listens with an open heart, that in itself is very healing. I remember when I lost my job a few years ago, how the kindness of strangers was actually a healing balm for me. And yes, I am happy there is help to address whatever issues we humans have. I happy am moving forward!

"Each one of us can be a wounded healer".....So true! The video sent shivers down my spine. I have watched it 3 times already and I know it's going to pull me once every day. You write with your heart and that's why it goes straight to my heart...and that happens every time I read your hubs. I never knew something called EFT existed; I guess we do it all the time subconsciously without even knowing that we have the potential to free ourselves from our deep rooted pains and agonies. It was very touching. It makes me wonder if its 'all for a reason' that some of us face more trauma than the others. Perhaps the purpose of our lives is to heal others...in our own small way. (Hugs)

'wounded healer' - what an incredible description! Great video!

I try and do the tapping every day - it's so amazing how it makes you go harmoniously with the flow each day. Thanks for a wonderful hub VioletSun!

Anjali: My sister watched the video several times too, she was so stunned and inspired by the video that she is moving forward with plans to teach children meditation and such, and makes the class colorful to get their attention. The video is touching because there is Truth to it, so it reaches the core of receptive people. This is her way of healing the loss of her son as she feels her boy's energy with her.  Thanks for your words, and hugs to you too. :)

Shalini: I am basically new with EFT, and I am adapting it to my way of being, meaning I omit certain EFT phrases. I figure, tapping the acupunture points is what helps, and I am combining deep meditation, and chakra work, and its helping me very much. I feel lighter and humbled by the power of spirit and healing.

Thanks Anjali and Shalini for your comments and nice start to my day!

I have looked at EFT and get the newsletter. I think it is probably a very effective and powerful technique. Unfortunately, I can't afford the DVDs! :) But it's good that many people are able to avail themselves of this and get off drugs and other eventually toxic methods of dealing with trauma.

Hi, Suzanne: I have modified the script and made it more positive; I think what is important is we tap on the acupunture points and that balances the energy. Just my approach. Thanks for reading and commenting.

WOW!! Such a touching hub. Thumbs up. I just saw that wonderful video too(and in that it is said that it is easier to relate to others if one has undergone similar pain). But what if someone like me who had a sheltered childhood and then relatively easy/smooth passage so far in life then would I qualify to be a "healer" since I have never felt those wounds. I know I have only lived 26 years and maybe there are wounds in store later and many many more lessons to be learned not only in this life time but many many life times (I do believe in reincarnation).

Btw I learned something new from the comments too. Your EFT and Jewels (IST) are things I have never heard before this hub (see I told you I have many lessons to learn) ;)

CW: You are asking a very insightful question. Phil my s/o also has had a very good life, a healthy childhood, loving parents, has always been financially stable, has had a very trauma free life, except for a very bad relationship with his ex which lasted only 3 years as he asked her to leave, yet he is compassionate man, has worked as a spiritual counselor (he used to be an engineer like you), so, I would say, perhaps some people are born with an open heart and do not need to be a wounded heaaler, its not in their karma. They can feel the suffering of others naturally.

I think we are all healers to some extent.... just extending kindness to others is healing, and by your nature, I am sure you have been a healer many, many times in your life. :)

countrywomen profile image

countrywomen 7 years ago from Washington, USA

So even I can be eligible then..hehe. Anyway about extending kindness I am not so sure about that. I just try not to harm others in anyway but not that much of a do gooder as such (just prefer to mind my own business). You are such an interesting mix of eastern/western philosophy. I guess I am still more eastern as far as my beliefs in Karma/Reincarnation is concerned. I guess understanding "suffering of others" I am not sure but I do feel extremely concerned about animals (even insects)..LOL

CW: You are right, I am a mixture of Eastern/Western philosophy. Also believe in reincarnation, I have actually had spontaneous regressions on three occasions in my life, so have an idea of who I was in three previous lives. :)

This is an incredible hub and video! I've wanted to be a healer since I was a little girl and I'm now suffering from a debilitating illness. It's difficult to remember that I can be useful to others because I currently can't do anything much but I'll heal and then I'll heal others. Visiting here has reminded me of that.

VioletSun profile image

VioletSun 7 years ago from Oregon/ Name: Marie Author

Aslanlight: I sort of got chills when I read your comment, as I I think it was meant to be you read this. :) I highly recommend Dr. Joe Dispenza's book, "Evolve Your Brain- Change Your Mind"- in it he talks about spontaneous healings and why they happen, and the cool thing is he has proof of these spontanoues healings. Some parts are a little scientific, but his style of writing is very understandable, made me understand why affirmations work, even if he doesn't talk about it, it changes the wiring of the brain and how the body/reality responds.

I wish you a wonderful path of healing!

Me too! If EFT is a placebo, who cares, because it works so amazingly well!
