The preacher man touched me though his eye's were closed and he was near death. A true story.

He had the most beautiful eyelashes.

Another evening shift at a nursing home

It was time for me to clock in at the small nursing home where I worked as the evening R.N. As I entered the building I noticed an occupied bed that was empty the evening before.

The day R.N. gave me a report on all the residents. She then told me about a new admission she'd received today. His name was Ben. He was thirty-five years old and he was a minister.

He was comatose, eyes closed, nonresponsive to verbal or touch stimuli

He had been diagnosed with bone cancer that had metastasized throughout his body. He had been sent to our facility for comfort care only.

I spent the evening taking care of the residents and occasionally looking in on Ben to make sure he was being turned and cared for.

When the night nurse arrived I gave her a report on all the residents, including the minister Ben. I reminded her that he was not to have CPR and was here only for comfort care.

When I finished my shift and was going to go clock out, I passed his room and decided to stop in once more. I stood far away at the foot of his bed. He remained in a deep coma. I remember how handsome he was. His eyelashes were dark, long and curled almost touching his brow's

The miracle I was allowed to see

Suddenly his eye's opened and he looked up at the ceiling. The most beautiful smile appeared on his face. He then closed his eye's. The smile lingering at the corners. He died that night.

I had always been a believer in God and heaven

When I left his room I was visibly shaken. At the time I was not practicing my faith. I firmly believe I was allowed to witness this miracle.

Just recently this memory returned with a keen desire to share this with my hubber friends.

Such beauty and love. How blessed we are to know life so well that within it we can know God and so that the gap between this life and the next is a mere hop to the next stone.

How lucky you were...God puts us in situations I believe that will be of great benefit to us and to others in some cases. It is up to us of course to receive the gifts of mercy or let them pass us by.

Clearly you received yours.

Angels are once again on the way to you ps

Hello Patricia. I must say that in years past I was somewhat skeptical about events that had anything to do with the paranormal, after witnessing this I believed more firmly in the unknown. I am happy to share this with my hubber friends! Thank you for the angels. I believe in them too.

Ruby, too bad Ben's family couldn't have been there to see his final, peaceful smile. I believe he shared with you what he saw just before he was taken to Heaven. You were there to help him on his way whether you realize it or not.

Wonderful experience. I hope Ben was seeing God before leaving his body and that's why he was smiling. You have been blessed to witness that happening in front of you. That was the reason for your stopping by for a while before checking out.

Thanks for sharing this experience.

Hello Shauna. That's something to think about. ( Why his family wasn't present.) I know if it were my family I would've been there. My guess is they had been caring for him at home and probably was exhausted. Thanks for coming by.

Ruby, I can imagine the many stories you could write and share. This one took my breath away. The fact that you were there when he opened his eyes was to show you his appreciation and to share the beauty of God, His love and ours, and the existence of rests beyond or earthly existence. What a magnificent gift you gave to each other. Hugs dear friend.
