The prince of peace

"Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost."
"Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost."

The apostacy

Since the beginning of creation, the Lord has blessed his faithful people with the priesthood. This delegation of authority is a sacred trust shared between God and his servants, and it's unending blessings allow his chosen people to officiate in the ordinances which he has set out for the redemption of mankind.

In the days of Moses God bestowed the lower priesthood to Aaron and his sons, and with that priesthood came the law of sacrifice, and the Mosaic dietary laws. They were commanded to build a tabernacle with sections that lead to a holy place where the Lord God resided. It was a very sacred place and only the priests were allowed to enter.

Before Moses came along there were the patriarchs who were the leaders of the ancient Hebrews. One of the first patriarchs was Abraham, and though he was a prophet of God, he submitted his will to the lord and tithed to the high priest Melchizedek. Melchizedek was only briefly mentioned in the old testament but the priesthood which he held was spoken of in the writings of Paul who declared that Jesus was the "high priest after the order of Melchizedek", and thus the only sacrifice that was needed of this higher priesthood was the final sacrifice of Christ, whereas the Levitical, or Aaronic priesthood required constant sacrifice.

Shortly after the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the children of Israel were scattered and the priesthood was lost. The temple as well was destroyed and no more were they able to perform animal sacrifice to atone for their sins. Likewise shortly after the martyrdom of Jesus' apostles, the priesthood which he bestowed on them was lost as well, and thus the words of the prophet Amos were fulfilled;

"Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst." -Amos

The apostle Paul also spoke of a falling away, along with Matthew who saw this falling away unfolding in his very day; "For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed"

So we see that the Lord said the priesthood was going to be lost, and then those words were fulfilled.

Joseph Smith; Prophet of the restoration
Joseph Smith; Prophet of the restoration

Restoration

Following the apostasy and the subsequent loss of the priesthood there was a need for a restoration of the priesthood. The restoration of the priesthood is the divine truth that men cannot obtain this delegation of authority from God without the permission of he who holds it.

Thus we see in the scriptures that the famine will be ended through angelic ministry,

And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people" -Revelation 14:6

And Elijah will restore the priesthood,

"And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things." -Matthew 17:11

because Jesus said it will happen,

"When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power." Acts 1;6-7

"Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began." Acts 3:19-21

And in the last days he will gather in the house of Israel,

"That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him" -Ephesians 1:10

Along with the restoration of the priesthood comes the restoration of the temple,

"And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it." -Isaiah 2:2

But there will no longer be a need for animal sacrifice in the temple, so we will have to preform ordinances in behalf of the dead who were not baptized under the authority of Jesus Christ since clearly the resurrection of the body is spoken of in the Bible and Jesus said that no one can receive the kingdom of heaven without being baptized.

Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead? And why stand we in jeopardy every hour?

Thus the need for the restoration of the priesthood, otherwise we cannot, through our own merits, extend that power to bless the lives of believers in Christ. It is the only power that reaches beyond the veil of death, it is the priesthood of God which binds in heaven the things that are bound on Earth, without it there is no authority to perform the ordinances which God has commanded us to partake in. it is the authority to bless, and to baptize, to heal the sick, and to serve God in our greatest capacity.

God is WITHIN YOU. Most do not get it! It means you are part of the creation and you do the creating with your mind. Jesus said to be careful with your thoughts and what you sow you shall reap and that God will never leave you and he will call you when he needs you. YOU are the creator and the God is IN YOU and can never leave you. It is your SOUL. There is no death ..only to the body which is our puppet while we learn about how and why and what we think and how it is manifested and why and all the lessons therein. The Mercy of God is you and your thoughts and so is the things in which you call EVIL because YOU do not understand what you do.

Jesus is NOT the Prince of Peace when he states that clearly in that Bible. He did not come to bring peace yet all religions tell people that he is.

Lady Guinevere, Yes he is the prince of peace.

Isaiah 9:6 "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

Jesus, in the NT stated that he did NOT come to bring Peace. He also said that HE was the NEW COVENANT and his word is above everyone else's including the OT.

Luke 12: 51 `Think ye that peace I came to give in the earth? no, I say to you, but rather division;

52 for there shall be henceforth five in one house divided -- three against two, and two against three;

53 a father shall be divided against a son, and a son against a father, a mother against a daughter, and a daughter against a mother, a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.'

The holy prophets were inspired to speak through the influence of God, do you disagree?

He spoke of a peace that he gives, not as the world does. Yes he did speak of peace, he gives peace to the soul through the promise of eternal life, hence fulfilling the words of his own prophets.

John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

Mathew 10: 31 be not therefore afraid, than many sparrows ye are better.

32 `Every one, therefore, who shall confess in me before men, I also will confess in him before my Father who is in the heavens;

33 and whoever shall deny me before men, I also will deny him before my Father who is in the heavens.

34 `Ye may not suppose that I came to put peace on the earth; I did not come to put peace, but a sword;

35 for I came to set a man at variance against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law,

36 and the enemies of a man are those of his household.

37 `He who is loving father or mother above me, is not worthy of me, and he who is loving son or daughter above me, is not worthy of me,

38 and whoever doth not receive his cross and follow after me, is not worthy of me.

39 `He who found his life shall lose it, and he who lost his life for my sake shall find it.

40 `He who is receiving you doth receive me, and he who is receiving me doth receive Him who sent me,

41 he who is receiving a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive a prophet's reward, and he who is receiving a righteous man in the name of a righteous man, shall receive a righteous man's reward,

42 and whoever may give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say to you, he may not lose his reward.'

So the scriptures do not match.

They do match though. He is speaking of his words which are like a sword:

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit," Hebrews 4:12

Thus we can gather that his words will separate the believers from the nonbelievers, because love of him is more important than anything else.

And he is the prince of peace, because he is the mediator between us and the Father, thus affording salvation and eternal life in heaven to all who follow him. Hence it is a peace not of this world. So in the resurrection he will reign upon the earth in peace

D&C 76:63 "These are they whom he shall bring with him, when he shall come in the clouds of heaven to reign on the earth over his people."

Job 19:25 "For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:"

WE are the WORD of God and if that is true some of the religious fanatics do use it as a sword and they don't realize it but it hurts more than it helps.

The above answer that you gave me with the first quote that you said he was talking to such and such...being peace he gave us---he was talking to the desciples, not the people. So why would he being saying something different to the masses? I don't really bother with the OT that much because Jesus told us that his words were more important and they should be listened to more than those old prophets. Jesus said where he put the laws...in the hearts and minds of the people--not only those who believe in him. Ego takes away from that true meaning.

Actually Jesus said; "whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same"-D&C 1:38

So the prophets words are just as valid as those of Jesus because he is the one who inspired them to speak on his behalf.

Though the holy spirit is capable of residing within an individual, one does not receive that spirit without first being baptized and confirmed by his authorized servants. Servants only he himself can commission through the power of his priesthood.

I don't know where in the scriptures it says that, "we are the word of god", but I have seen where it says the word was manifest in the body of Christ.

Well someone used to have this as a hub but took it off when the first Google Panda hit and it is very interesting if you find the time to read it: A Very Interesting Reading that use to be on HubPages but is elswhere about the WORD OF GOD and it isn't religious https://sites.google.com/site/rationalexpress/the-...

Oh and baptism can be the act of birth--as in the physical. So everyone who is born is also baptized. I also have a hub of FAITH and what Jesus was trying to teach us.

OH BTW I was glad to ss that you are still around after the Panda hit. Many have left and I don't know who is here and who is not anymore cuz I stopped writing hubs for the 6 or 7 months they did all the changes. I was waiting until things calmed down a bit, but it looks like Google is at it again.

i'll have to take a look at it when I get a chance, thanks.

If Baptism is something that occurs after birth why did Jesus say that a man must be born again?

The intent of baptism is that it is an outward display of faith in Jesus Christ. (something that I think we can agree is not capable with an infant) And it is a commandment, to be baptized like Jesus was by John the Baptist.

The symbolism in the ordinance of baptism is deeply spiritual and congruent with the very precepts of resurrection.

"we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.” -Romans 6

There is no death, Jesus ever said that. Born again, second incarnation and thrid and so on and so forth. The laws are in the minds and hearts of men--mankind. We all know when we do something against ourselves. We can pass scripture back and forth and back and forth again, but it does nothing if you don't comprehend the mean to yourself and not to just a few. Well it's been a good chat, but I am done with the passing the scriptures as I have seen them in a different light.

I also don't put any faith or thinking into what Paul says.

Not going there so you can think you know all the answers. Sorry a change in name does not change the person deep inside where he is trained from birth to do such things.

Not All Is Written In The Bible--so says that Bible. All the answers are not in there no matter who told you that.

Onusonus profile image

I never said all the answers are in the Bible. But you are making some accusations against Paul the Apostle, and I'm just wondering why you think this is so.

"Impostor, fake, spy, double agent," Those are serious accusations. There is a Hebrew word, "Satan" which specifically translates to, "the accuser".

If a person wants to destroy someone they would start by accusing them, and such is why "bearing false witness" is one of God's top ten no no's.

The things that Paul did in his life, and the regret that he had for his previous persecution of Christians show that quite the opposite is true. And nobody would put their own life on the line for a lie that they would have fabricated out of whole cloth.

Oh so now you are calling me Satan. Fine and dandy but those christians who can't get answers for themselves and accuse others of being bad people or follow some other invisible and imaginary being are in doctrinated into thinking they cannot do their opwn research out of the Bible. This happens time and time again and again and agian and it is a pattern with those kinds of people meaning they don't know any other way of communicating other than what they were taught by ROTE. Ask youself who really was the first person to turn Jesus in. They don't tell the complete truth in that Bible and in a church. Jesus despised the church for what they taught and despised the Roman government---but Paul on the other hand was born and raised to infiltrate and send many to the hanging trees just because they did not follow Roman Rule or Empire. THAT ws his job. The way Rome showed what they would do to someone who did not bow down to them is not easy to come from. He probably was threatened if he did not bring people in.

Enough of this. I will not stand for being called something that I am not. Have a wonderful life.

LG I am not calling you Satan, I am only pointing out that if you are going to accuse someone of something you should consider where the motivation comes from, and whether or not the path you have embarked on is a true and valid argument.

I think that Jesus loved the church. In fact he was the one who organized it. He commissioned Prophets, apostles, teachers, priests, and evangelists, for the work of the ministry and the edifying of the body.
