To follow Christ
To follow Christ :
A walk with Christ is a path that requires us to step out often in faith. The first step is the hardest because you are asked to believe in the yet unfamiliar to you power and mercy of the Lord. Allow me to draw you a mental picture of this. Imagine you are standing firmly on a cliff, and the Lord asks you to step off the edge onto what you see as nothing but thin air. Those of us who take the step, find that our feet landed safely on yet another rock which was not revealed to us till after we stepped off our cliff in faith. Each step in this path is revealed through stepping out, and each step strengthens your faith. Now keep in mind that each step is only one of many on a long journey, and we must never stop pressing forward. Each new foothold is but a temporary resting place to quicken us for the next step, but if we stand still to long and become reluctant to move forward the pebble on which you stand will be shaken and eventually crumble and fall. It is at that point unfortunately that most of us decide to run back to the false security of our cliff which we started out from, rather than to take another step in the path to real salvation. What those who cling to the cliff fail to realize is that the cliff “the world” will soon be shaken and destroyed as well, along with all those who put their faith it. It then becomes our responsibility as faithful followers of Christ to holler back to those still on the cliff to warn and encourage them to step out in faith and follow Christ on this journey to salvation.
Ps. Remember this and take comfort in knowing that my Heavenly Father has already gone before you and laid the path, you need only to walk it.
