Too Much Time On The Hands Of A Mischievous Child

Too Much Time On The Hands Of A Mischievous Child

Too much time on the hands of a mischievous child,

Can well bring their parents hearts to shame.

Too much time and freedom and too much money,

The sad story always seems to be the same.

Too much time spent on the ways of this world,

Too many dreams that will never come true.

Too little time was spent in The Lord's House,

Not enough time left giving The Lord His due.

Not enough friends believing In God's Word,

And never enough faith to help him be true.

Too many days of worship are slipping on by,

His parents always have other things to do !

Don't be surprised when the heartaches come,

When your darling brings in worry and strife,

What can you expect ?You're paying the price

We pay when we leave Jesus out of our life.

Too little time you have spent as a family,

Too little time do you ever spend in prayer.

How many times do you eat all together

When all of the family members are there?

You can give them money, and freedom ,too,

But is your home a place for Jesus to dwell?

At the close of the day can you always say,

Our children and Jesus are here, all is well ?

I have seen it happen and I am sure that

you have ,too,.when people seem to forget

all The Lord has done for us in our lives.

Not just once in a while but everyday that we

live here on this earth, The Bible says in all

things to give thanks to God but it seems

that we always forget , even the little day by

day things that we should always remember..

I am sure if we would just start to look back

in our lives we will be able to think of many

things over the years that happened and we

never even thought it was brought about by

God. It is never too late to send a prayer of

Thanks to Him even now. Try it ,.let Him know

that you appreciate all of those all but forgotten

things He bestowed upon you !

Thank you ,Faith, for your comment . Yes, the devil likes to see idle minds that he can get into .You can take your children to church but that doesn't mean they will live for God when they are older. When they get older they choose their own friends , as much as you would like to you can not choose the friends for them, but lots of times the parents don't go to church and they do not have much of a home life ,it seems that each one goes their own way and meet in the door way at times. Some of the parents don't want to be parents ,they want to be buddies instead . It can be a sad life for the young people at times.Love, Clara

You have that right, Clara! I had to tell one of my neighbor mothers when we lived in the city, that her teenage daughter needs a parent/mother not another friend, as they have plenty of friends! It is very difficult to see a child fall away, that is a parent's worst nightmare in my mind! But when they get out into the world, the devil chargestowards them and dangles things in front of their eyes, that they believe is "good" for them. Not the case, of course. So, very sad. All I know to do is pray.

God bless you, Faith Reaper

Faith ,it seems like we see a lot of that anymore from Fathers and Mothers both. We all need a lot of prayer in this time that we live in . When we were younger we never dreamed that this world would change so quickly and all of the evil things of our day is now permitted and don't dare say anything against it. Don't dare punish your children if they do wrong , you will end up in front of the judge. How much longer will God put up with all of that we see every day now?It seems like the young people start out in life with 2 strikes against them to start with. Love, Clara

Great theme here, MsClara and relevant. I sat in church recently next to children who texted for almost the entire service. Parents need to pay attention now more than ever.

MsDora, Thank you for your comment.I did not mean to put all of the blame on the parents but as parents we have to admit that we could have done a better job , back then I thought I was doing the best that I could but looking back I know that I could have done better. If we could buy a ticket for do overs I think most parents would spend all that they have to buy one of those tickets. There is no such thing but we can go to Jesus and ask forgiveness and He will be with us and help us from then on if we stay true to Him.I hope this makes sense to you ,love,Clara

A great point, Clara. It's the parents' responsibility to ensure that their children learn how to use their free time wisely - and for not all time to be free for them, but to learn to help, doing chores and things that they will need to know in the future.

Hello Blossom, Thank you for your comment, I suppose in this day and age if you gave your child some chores to do it would be child abuse . A parent would probably be arrested .No wonder there is so much trouble in the world today.I have no idea who ever came up with some of the stupid laws that we have now, one thing they did not come out of the Bible.Love,Clara

Well I only raised two so it was not so hard on me but you are exactly right, to raise them in the ways of the Lord. My Mom had 7 and her Mom 13! You better have the Lord with all those kids and just two eyes. Isn't there scripture saying if we raise them in the ways of the Lord they will never part from it? My bible is not handy but those words popped in my mind. Great advice, Clara.

Hello Jackie, Thanks for the comment on this poem. I think when you let the child do what they want when they want to you are going to run into trouble, in this day and age even the best parents have trouble keeping the children on the right path . There are too many things to grab their attention and once you lose them it is hard to get them back . Satan never rests. He knows his time is short . love, Clara

Hi Clara,

Reading your work reminds me of spending time with my parents.

You write much wisdom that has sadly fallen by the wayside in many a home...it is a blessing that you remind of a child's need for structure, love and God in their lives.

Big hugs and a peaceful Saturday to you, Maria

I enjoyed the verse very much and it speaks with great truth. We are rapidly becoming a people who have lost their centerline in this life thus we ramble from the ditch on the left to the ditch on the right and only briefly touch the road we were destined to travel upon. That said, the youth of today will tell you that it is "someoone else's fault" and that the government should fix it for us. Thanks for sharing, Clara! ~WB
