At some point in time, I believe we all wonder about the unknown. Is the paranormal relm real? Is there life on other planets? Is there such things as UFO's? I must admit, I always wondered about these questions, but I never searched for a correct answer. I never denied the possibility, but I had my doubts.

One of my favorite shows when i was young was Unsolved Mysteries. I remember being interested in ghost and space ships. I guess I have always been interested in science. Even so, I was still a skeptic. That all changed in the summer of 2001. I will be honest, very few people know the story I am about to tell. I have been very cautious about telling people about this specific encounter. This story is a true story and the events that occurred are real. I am a firm believer of life on other planets and the paranormal. I did not chose to be a believer, but I had to after the events that I have witnessed over the past 10 years. I am also going to write about my wife and her experiences also. The sole purpose of this article is to explain the events that happened in July 2001.

MY STORY

I have been fortunate to witness many strange events during my brief 28 years here on Earth. Before any of these incidents occurred, I was always skeptical that life existed on other planets. I believe we are taught at a young age that life only exist on Earth. My very first encounter was in 2001. I remember it like it was yesterday. I had never been so scared in my life. This event happened nearly a month after I graduated from high school.

I used to live in Omar, West Virginia. Omar is an old mining town that seen its best days in the 50s. Now, it is a small community of a few hundred residents. Pine Creek is located next to Omar and it is basically the back country. There is a paved back road that goes through Pine Creek. It is about 11 miles long. Pine Creek stretches for miles, but only about 100 residents call it home and most of them are located at the mouth of the holler. It is basically all wilderness. There are a lot of paths and small four wheeling roads throughout Pine Creek. At certain locations, you are miles away from the population.

My friends and I decided to go up Johnson Holler and camp out for the night to celebrate my graduation. The road goes 2 miles off the main back road and the nearest residence is about 6 miles away. We wanted to make sure we were far away from everyone so we wouldn't bother anyone. There was about 14 of us at one time and the beer was running low. Our fire was also beginning to die, but at this time, we really didn't care. We had 3 vehicles, but as it got later, 2 car loads had left. My friend Chico was my ride and he wanted to leave to go to the store before it closed. It was about 1:30 am and the store closed at 2. If he left right now, he would make it before the store closed. If not, he would have to go 10 more miles down the road. he eventually left and 3 of us were left alone.

I wanted to build the fire up first so we would have enough light to pitch the tent. We really wasn't prepared to camp out, but we were trying to make due. As i was going back for my second load of firewood, I saw a bright flash hit the front of my face while I was bending over. I thought it was a flashlight. That is how bright it was, but I knew we didn't have a flashlight. My friends noticed the flash as well and we all figured someone was messing with us. We all gathered close together and the silence in the woods sent a terrible feeling in my gut. I remember feeling the vibration of my friend Chris shaking. A few minutes later, we hear a humming sound coming from the ridge of the mountain. It was quiet though, almost like hearing your washing machine from upstairs.

We listened quietly with puzzled looks on our faces. And less then a minute later, the sound was gone. We were down in the valley, in between two mountains on a dirt road. A few minutes after the sound stopped, we all see a blue beam of light shining down the mountain on the fire, at the least, 20 feet away from us. The light glided right to left, back and forth, almost like someone was searching for something. The light only lasted for a few seconds and it disappeared. I thought someone was messing with us, but this light was not like a spotlight. The blue beam looked watery, like water was inside the beam of light. That is the best that I can describe it to you, I had never seen anything like it.

My heart was beating out of my chest at this point and I remember being very confused. It was almost like we couldn't move. Who would be on top of the mountain at 2 in the morning? I knew Chico wouldn't be back anytime soon, so we decided to begin walking and get out of here as quick as possible. Suddenly, we heard a scream that sent chills down my spine and literally paralyzed me, a scream of some type that I had never heard of before. At this time, I knew we were in trouble. No human or animal can scream like that. I don't know what to do.

Source
Source

NO WAY THIS IS HAPPENING

I really wish I could describe this beam of light better, but I really can't. I have never been so scared in my life, completely terrified. My friend Chris was extremely shook up. He was on the break of passing out. Even if we take off, we are two miles away from the back road and 6 miles away from the nearest house. All three of us hunkered down beside a tall tree in the brush. We hoped Chico would be back with the car soon so we can get out of here.

I would say 20 minutes had went by since that awful scream we heard and for 20 straight minutes, you could here a pen drop. I thought this was weird because you could usually here the animals. Besides an occasional pop from the fire, there was utter silence. The next thing you know, it sounds like something big is coming off the mountain. It is a good distance away, but it is getting closer and the noise is constant. Suddenly, "snap"! It sounded like a tree limb breaking. "Snap, snap"! Tree limbs were snapping by something. "All my God, I whispered. What the hell is that"? We have to go, lets go, lets go. I counted in my head to three and everyone was on page. All three of us took off like we were running for money. At this time in my life, I was fast and I could run for a large distance. I figured I could reach the back road in a quick enough. When I looked back, I noticed Chris struggling. I couldn't leave him. He was having chest pains and I knew he was in total shock. Jason was already gone like the wind. Chris could barely walk, even with his arm around my neck.

We may have went a quarter mile and Chris just couldn't go no more. I tried to listen above Chris gasping for air to see if I could hear anything. I tried but I couldn't. Chris was in bad shape. I couldn't blame him, I was on my last limb as well. It was like he was not in the world. After a minute of rest, we began walking again. I would say we walked about a mile without any issues. I didn't look back at this time and I didn't hear or see anything weird. "Oh shit, Chris whispered. The light." Oh my God, the light is back. What the hell is going on? This ain't right. I knew at that moment that something was looking for us, but what? The light was huge. You could see weird material inside the large beam. The light could easily cover the width and diameter of a SUV. This time, it was within feet from us. I grabbed Chris and threw him behind a large rock and under a tree in the water ditch. I immediately followed him. We stayed there for a long time, but still, no Chico. The light beam was gone again, but I heard that humming sound again. It was louder this time, but it was a quiet hum. A noise I have never heard before I am certain.

Chris was starting to come back around and I know for a fact, we were behind that rock for a good hour. I decided to peak around the corner of the rock, but I couldn't see anything. It was quiet as can be, besides the humming noise coming from all around. I couldn't pinpoint the direction. Chris had his head against the rock, looking up. He saw it first. He tapped me on the shoulder and pointed to the sky. I didn't want to look, but I did. It was the corner of a large object in the sky. "No way, no way, I thought while shaking my head no". It was an UFO. It was rounded at the front and it has a metallic bottom. The back end, or perhaps the front, had a rectangular shape. I heard the hum coming from the ship and I knew everything was because of the ship. I was amazed, but when I thought about the tree limbs snapping and the scream, I really began to get nervous. I thought they were coming for us. I know it sounds crazy, but what else could it be?

The bottom of the object had a blue water-like section. It had to be the blue beam. This sent chills down my spine. At the worst, I figured someone was messing with us on the mountain with a huge spotlight of some type. Now, I knew it was far from my original thought. Luckily for us, the ship passes by and eventually goes over the mountain line.

Once it passed, we finally began walking again. We reached the back road and found Jason. He was coming out from under the bridge at the fork. I could hear the animals again, the owl and the insects. Before, I heard nothing and I remember this. I looked at my watch and it was 4:33am. 3 hours had passed and we were so pissed off at Chico. How could he leave us up here for that long? After a mile of walking, we saw headlights and I knew by the sound of the car it was Chico. "What the hell are you all doing?", Chico asked looking confused. "You wouldn't believe us if we told you, Jason stated. We are going home."

I was pissed off that Chico left us up here for 3 hours. It was total bull. "I can't believe you left us up here for three damn hours Chico", I said with evil intentions. Your a punk. "What are you talking about Rick?, Chico sounded surprised. It is only 2:26am". I paused. I pressed the light on my watch and it read 2:28am.

DO YOU BELIEVE UFOs ARE NOT OF THIS WORLD?

Really good story, blue. Did you ever find out where the scream came from?

Zen, so weird, I was just over reading your article about that special hubber of yours. I have no clue. I think of all the animals in WV and none match the scream we heard. It was screeching though, sends chills right down your spine. I know people will think I am crazy after this and the other ones I am going to write about, but it is true. How could you forget an event like that? The blue light was perhaps plasma of some kind. It never picked up anything, but it was huge. Strangely, I never saw that light come from the object in the sky. When I saw the bottom, I figured that is where it came from. It was bright enough to blind you for minutes. It was awful.

I think that your experience is authentic Ricky, though I have no logical explanation of why another life-form would knowingly make contact in this way. Most probably it was an a parallel(or side-effect) effect of something other-worldly.It could have been a phenomenon of contact from something outside our dimension.

I figure due to the vast distances between habitats in the Universe,it's likely we would see not only hard to explain forms of communication

I'd like to believe you....I want to believe you....because I believe we are not alone. I guess I believed you right up until Chico got back and the time difference. That bit is so weird. Convince me..what do you think the explanation is? Good hub by the way...well written.

I've heard that time is often distorted during an UFO encounter. After reading your story, I have a weird spooky feeling! Do you remember the shape of the UFO? Was it round, cigar shaped, or a very large triangle? Good Hub.

Hi, awesome hub!! Firstsly, I do believe that at least some UFO's are extraterristrial and I don't have a problem in believing that other species are here for some reason - not all benign I think.

That is so creepy about the light beam searching for you guys! A lot of it sounds like what other people have described in 'abduction' cases.

Do you think the 'scream' noise could have come from the UFO itself? I only ask this because there are so many weird things about UFO's, that making unusual/creepy noises wouldn't surprise me when you think about all the stuff that they can do.

I'm glad you guys got out of this and hope you have all recovered - at least a bit. Great hub, voted up + awesome!

Many mysteries are out there. This entire encounter is bizarre and creepy. I am not sure what else to say. I am skeptic at some of these tales but yours sounds detailed enough. May I say, "HUH!" ?

Metalist, thanks for coming by and explaining your take on this matter. I agree, I don't believe that they were there for us, just one of those weird occurences, right place-right time thing. I appreciate your input my friend. I often wonder cause this is not the first experience, I have had 6. I don't know why but I have enough common sense to tell the difference. Take care.

One2get2know, first, thanks for taking the time to read it. Second, I wish I could tell you that I could, but I really can't. I know what time it was when I first looked at my watch. I know how much time passed during this crazy event. I also know what time it was when I saw Chico. That meant all this occured in one hour, but it was 3. I just don't have the answer. I wish I knew. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. All I know is everything that I have said occured. It is not the first time that "time" was an issue. This will be in another article, but my best guess, somehow they can effect time. It may be the reason they can travel long distances in short periods of time. That is my best answer.

thelyricwriter profile image

Crazycatman, thanks for coming by and for your comment. I believe that as well. Time has something to do with them, I really think so. We are made to believe that these ships are round or V-shaped. One side was round and the other was rectangular. Once it started moving, the round side appeared to be the front. I couldn't tell the color of the sides and top, but I know the bottom was a metallic looking color. It had multi color lights on the sides.

Seeker7, thanks for coming by and for your comment and question. I really don't know about the noise. It sounded like something evil, a loud screech sound, but it may have come from the object. That is a good question though Seeker7. It sounded like a scream, a pitch that couldn't be copied and it was loud. I really don't know though. I was so scared, I just remember hearing it and wanting to leave.

Hyphenbird, thanks for coming by. That is fine. I was a skeptic before, until this. This was the first event that I witnessed or been part of. Needless to say, I became a believer. I believe everyone has to see it or experience it to be a confident believer, same goes for the paranormal. I know some may think this is a tale, but this really happened to me. Til this day, I don't know why. I do know since then, I have had 5 other experiences. This is not including from the paranormal. I just always wonder why.

Now that's super creepy but they do say weird things happen to time when a UFO is around. Odd indeed I wonder what screamed I'm sure it wasn't a who. Maybe one of them did something they shouldn't have and they killed it. People are always shooting each other so why not them? Just wanted to try and put some logic into this.

thelyricwriter profile image

thelyricwriter 5 years ago from West Virginia Author

Hey there Gypsy. Hope all is well. You really never know Gypsy. If I had to guess, I figured it came from one of them, but I guess it could also have been the ship. I really don't know to be honest. I was so scared, I really wasn't paying attention to every detail, I just wanted to get out of there.

Lyric my friend there is much to think on and say here. I'm going to come back over the coming week so this will do for now: your honesty with this bizarre experience comes through your writing in a way that puts a reader right there with you and your friends. I certainly can't tell you for sure what the object, scream, or blue beam was but for the sake of it lets start with this: there's no way to know for certain if the object was from this world in its present space-time or somewhere else. "It" was obviously interested in that fire or what-meaning you and the others-was around it. As to your time discrepancy that could be as a commenter above said, or again, something else. It'll be intriguing and perhaps some more pieces to the puzzle when you decide to write on your other events. This is just a preliminary comment lyric and later we'll get into some specifics and possibilities if you wish my friend.

I don't know how I missed this, notifications seem to be a bit slap dash.

I believe in the extraterristrial and your story. It must have been terrifying for you. Maybe the UFO had detected either the light or heat from the fire and they were looking for you. Maybe the scream was an animal, not the usual sounds you would recognize but a terrified scream as it was being drawn up into the UFO. As for the time I belive this was affected by them.

It's interesting that you have also had other encounters, maybe they have you tagged, ahhhhh. I look forward to reading them.

On CNN news just in the past day or two they have discovered a planet that has water and temperatures around 72 degrees Fahrenheit. Admittedly it is a long way away from our planet and solar system...but for people to think that life only exists on this planet...I think that it is a stretch to believe that. If people from distant worlds are exploring this planet...they are more advanced than our civilization at the present time. Not at all hard to believe!

There are many mysteries of this universe. UFO is one of the strangest things in the universe. There are many people try to reveal the existence of UFO. Although we often heard about the witnesses who saw the flying saucer in the sky. Is it enough to proof about the UFO? But, personally...I can say that "I do believe". Thank you very much for writing this topic. You have done a great job here. I give all my votes to you. Have a nice day!

I had some experiences when I was very young that, thinking back now, I believe could very well have been extraterrestrial related. As was mentioned before, the universe is huge. Tillsontitan, I agree. The universe is a very large place. With all the different planets, it is a very high certainty that we are not alone. I know we are not personally, but I understand what it takes to make a believer.

We are taught that there is no such thing, that everything is explained. My case, thousands of people are seeing similar things. They may not be on my level, but they are just as compelling.

All: Do not forget about the father of all lies, the devil. Bottom line: This fallen angel wants to kill your spirit, so if you do not believe in our lord Jesus Christ it will achieve its goal.

God is purely about love and the devil is purely about hate.

I do believe Transdimensional energy is a real thing and the U.S. Government is hiding this technology (Source: The Disclosure Project). The only purpose of mentioning The Disclosure Project is to show that the technology exists to create man-made flying objects, AKA UFOs.

The world stage is being set and the primary fallen angel (the devil) has been crafting this story for a very long time. Do not believe stories (Annunaki) that tell you aliens are coming to mine precious metals from earth because that is a lie ... it is known that NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory is developing technology to mine asteroids in space ... this is not science fiction, it is underway.

Some UFOs (shiny metal objects) may appear to be other worldly, but they are not ... they are man made to sell a fallen angel's lie with the primary objective of killing your God-given spirit.

A glowing orb in the sky that executes impossible maneuvers (g-forces that will kill humans) are fallen angels. There is a visual difference between man-made UFOs and fallen angels.

Do not believe the devil's lies. Once the true and only God steps aside He will allow the fallen angel and his legions (1/3 of all angels that God cast to earth) to inflict the world with severe devastation (Source: the Holy Bible and the Book of Enoch --- Dead Sea Scrolls).

The state of the world's various economies is not an accident (Bilderberg, Illuminati, Masons, etc.) and the New World Order is well on its way of being established. Do you think all of the security measures in the U.S., wars, and rumors of wars is happening just because?

I belive: No. The control mechanisims are being established when the crap hits the fan (YouTube "Fusion Centers" for some enlightening info).

I only bring these things to your attention so you can research and come to your own conclusions.

I bring up God and Jesus because I care about you and want to celebrate LOVE's victory over HATE when we we pass from this dimension to the next (Heaven).

Love all, hate none!

Your spirit brother-in-arms.

WA, INTERESTING? I believe in God, but I know what I saw. If it was made by humans, they are not from this world. Sorry. If we had that technology, someone would be making billions and you could go ride it for $100,000.

Xstatic, thanks for dropping by. LOL. It's true. Someone would be cashing in on it and reaping the benefits.

Yes, I agree with xstatic. You comment to WA is succinct, to the point, and so true.

DF, that is what I would think. It just makes sense to me that someone would certainly take advantage of technology like that.

Ricky, I believe you because I believe in you. Absolutely no doubt. I want to say that I was overwhelmed by reading this emotional, horrifying and at the same time exciting experience. To be honest, I would have passed away on the spot from this whole unknown thingy. I read a lot of science fiction and sometimes I had a feeling that some of the detailed books even being fiction sounded like based on a real experience. I have a feeling that some of the science fiction writers had those encounters first hand, it's a human nature to take it off your chest or you can just go nuts. I think you should write a book about it and it'll be bestseller with your style and ability to engage the reader, touch the heart and soul, I say, go for it! As a side note, many years ago I worked at the large corporation that had a connection with military and space stuff. At the beginning I was a PA to a tough chick. She was previously in military and worked on classified projects related to new inventions within military. Her responsibility was to cover up the screwed up military tests. So if something somewhere accidentally blew up something or fell in civilians zone - the team had to invent a high class myth for the press. I am easy excitable by the unknown stuff and she was always putting me down by being the biggest skeptic I have ever seen in my life. What I actually learned from her that there is plenty of stuff that is behind the curtains that really exist and we have no knowledge of. However, military is the best to access or to 'capture' extraterrestrials (so to speak) that then can be used for whatever matters they do. LOL I haven't experienced anything like you described, no encounters for me (my imagination is the worst extraterrestrial ever lived on earth) . The only strange thing that has no scientific proof that happened to me personally is that I witnessed the ball of lightning that scientists call spoof. I wouldn't believe myself either but there was my cousin standing next to me who saw that thing too. It was the size of basket ball (a little bigger) and was in luminous electric colors that were morphing from one into another, very beautiful thing, have never ever seen anything like that before or after the encounter. It appeared out of nowhere during violent thunderstorm, floating above the ground about 20 feet, then started slow descent and eventually went to the ground.

I have a question related to your story. You had two friends with you, right? Did you talk to them after that? How are they doing now?

Max, an awesome comment! Where do I start? I guess it is so much easier writing from your truth, experience, ect. It truly does come from the heart. I can't say that I am fortunate, but I have witnessed a lot of crazy things in my life. I am wanting to write about my other encounters and you might have inspired me to do so. I have witnessed 4 UFOs, or what I would think is a UFO. I have seen spirits as well as my wife. This incident scared the S*** out of me and it can haunt me from time to time. We are taught to not believe it. Wow, what a job to have Max. I believe they do know a lot more then we think. The military has to know something. Look at Roswell, people came out. Seeing that ball would have been cool. I have never heard of anything like this. As for my friends, they are living normal lives. One I see every now and then, one I don't speak too. I believe Pine Creek is a hot spot. It is where I saw all of mine, as well as many others. But I agree with you, there is very little that we know. But when you go through something such as this, how can you not believe?

Hm, I'm thinking it could have been the U.S. army. Such places are perfect locations for their dirty little secrets. However, I'm open to believe there's extra-terrestrial life. Great hub, voted up!

You make a good point Jasmine. Pinecreek is the perfect place to keep those secrets. Nothing more then a few homes and miles upon miles of wilderness. I don't know. The capability of this craft was like nothing none to man. This area is a hot spot as well. I always find it difficult to talk about because I don't want to be labeled "crazy." But this story is true, even the ending.

I don't think you're crazy and I understand why it's not so easy to talk about paranormal topics or extra-terrestrial life :)

Me and my friends had another experience, years before this. They were actually 14 of us that saw it. Even with that, people thought we were crazy. I have heard a lot of stories about sightings in this area. Pinecreek is also thought to be haunted by Mamie Thurman. She was murdered somewhere up there. They are books about it and what not.

Oh, boy! Well, there's nothing you can do about it. The important thing is that you and your friends know that you're perfectly sane :) I love reading about haunted places; think about writing a piece on Mamie Thurman! I'm familiar with the story, but it would be interesting to read it from your perspective.
