UFO's , Where Did It All Start

At 3 P.M. on June 24th 1947 a private airplane pilot named Kenneth Arnold was flying above Mount Rainer in Washington State when he spotted nine flying discs that he said were silvery in color and that they were flying in formation. He estimated the speed of the crafts at over 1200 mph. And he was not the only one reporting the UFO's in late June 1947. Thousands of reports came in from citizens , airline pilots , and U.S. Military personnel reporting seeing flying discs. Something was going on in the skies over the USA in late June 1947.

And while many people will point to 1947 as the year that the flying saucer was born it really isn't so. UFO's and flying saucers have been seen by various people all through history. Abraham Lincoln told friends of seeing strange flying objects in the sky over eastern Kentucky at least twenty five years before he became the president of the United States. Several times during the American Civil War strange flying objects were spotted by soldiers on either side and both sides were afraid that the other side had a new secret weapon.

Christopher Columbus who was given credit with discovering America reported seeing many strange things in the skies during his voyages to America. Some people have tried to claim Columbus saw a meteorite but if it was it was one of the strangest meteorites in the history of the planet earth. Columbus and his men were terrified by a bright red glowing object that flew around their ships , dove into the water and came back up out of the water and flew off up into the sky and out of sight. Sure sounds like a UFO doesn't it.

Under the US Air force , Project Sign had concluded by 1948 that most of the UFO sightings in the United States were extraterrestrial in nature and that at least part of the UFO's most likely came from outer space. However this would not become public knowledge until the late 1980s. So yes the US Government believed that at least some of the UFO's were real and they came from off planet Earth and they covered that fact up from the American people. In fact Air Force Chief of Staff Hoyt Vandenberg  had ordered Project Sign's findings to be destroyed. Knowledge of the report leaked out when several Air Force officers who had read it revealed what it contained. The US Air Force closed down its Project Blue Book UFO investigation in 1970 but many reports have leaked out that the US Government and its agencies continue to investigate UFO's but they are very careful that nothing leaks out to the US public.

If you go back and do research into the UFO phenomena in the 1940s through today you will find many many reports many of them very well documented like the eight flying saucers flying in formation in the Miami newspaper story above. With all the UFO's that have been spotted over the years a few of them or a small percentage of the sightings have to be true.

Do you know that the astronauts involved in the Space Shuttle program have many times reported seeing UFO's and were even many times told by NASA not to say anything in public. NASA has several times been caught trying to cover up UFO sightings by NASA astronauts.

Lets take a look at some of the most famous UFO sightings in the United States.

1. The Battle of Los Angeles occurred in 1942 when ground gun positions around Los Angeles opened up on what was believed to be a Japanese aircraft that had invaded US air space. Many many people both military and non military told of seeing a fast moving disc shaped object in the sky over Los Angeles.

2. The Roswell Incident in 1947 has become one of the most hotly debated UFO incidents in the history of the United States. Did a UFO ( a flying disc ) crash near Roswell New Mexico in 1947. Some people have gone as far as to claim that the US Military may have managed to shoot the UFO down. And it is believed by many that alien bodies were recovered at the Roswell Crash Site.

3. Recently in 1997 people in the Phoenix Arizona area spotted a very large UFO over the city and the incident was filmed by local TV stations. Some military officials have tried to make the claim that people were seeing flares but in several local TV reports from the night of March 13th 1997 the shape and distinct outline of a large craft can be seen in the news video reports. Definitely not flares.

And while those are only three of the most well known UFO incidents there are many many more. Far to many to all be explained or covered up by the US Government. I have always believed that some day there will be a UFO incident that the US Government will not be able to cover up. A very public crash or landing in a very highly public area could not be covered up.

Is the reason that the US Government has worked so hard at covering up UFO's because they fear mass hysteria should the fact get out that UFO's or at least part of them are real. Or does the US Government know that most or all of the UFO's who have visited planet Earth have hostile intentions. Just what is the US Government trying to protect the American people from. Do you believe that the US Government is covering up that UFO's are real.

I do truly believe that the US Government and others may be covering up the fact that UFO's are real. And while I will agree that a large percentage of cases can be explained there are many that can not be explained away. I think we would be insane to believe that the planet Earth is the only planet with life. I truly believe that there are many other planets with life forms in one form or another.
