Numerology has been around for millennia, going back 10,000 years to Egypt and Babylonia. Numerology is defined as the study of numbers and the symbolism that surrounds them. The discipline applies occult meanings to numbers, then uses the numbers that apply to each individual's life to see how the person's specific numbers influence their life. The numbers are used to determine an individual's personality, strengths, talents, the obstacles in their life, their inner needs, their emotional reactions to what's going on in their life, and determine ways that they deal with others. Many people look to numerology as a tool to help them examine their lives, to explore opportunities, to validate their talents, or sometimes, just to figure out what their next step should be.
How Does Numerology Work?
The basic principle of numerology that all things in the universe have their own vibration, with their own unique frequency, including humans. Numerology uses numbers to determine the frequency of each human's vibration, based on the person's name and birth date. The person analyzing those numbers can then determine the important information about that person's personality and character.
The Science Behind Numerology
Numerology uses occult methods to study numbers, which are said to reflect a person's aptitudes and character tendencies, which are theoretically part of the cosmic plan. To study the numbers, each letter in a person's name is given a numeric value that reflects its cosmic vibration. The numbers in the person's birthday (number of the month - December is 13; the number of the date; and the four-digit year), are added up and combined with the number value of their name to determine the interrelation of the person's name vibrations and birth date vibrations. Numerology experts then use those numbers to help the person work out the best times for key changes and actions in their life such as making investments, marriage, travel, and career changes.
Numerology reduces all numbers to single digits between one and nine, with the exception of two master numbers (11 and 22). Each of these numbers corresponds to a key vibration rate which is associated with each person's characteristics. A little basic arithmetic is used to reduce the numbers to a single digit. For example, if your birthday is August (8 for the eighth month) 2, 1983, then the numbers are added up as follows: 8 + 2 + 1 + 9 + 8 +3 which adds up to 31; which is further reduced by adding together the 3 and the 1 (3 + 1 = 4) to arrive at the number four. So the vibration number for your birthday would be "4."
To determine the number for you name you would use the number associated with each letter of your name as indicated in the following table.
So if your name is John Quincy Smith, follow the chart to find the numbers for each letter in your name. So the John, for instance, would use the numbers 1,6, 8, and 5; the name Quincy would use 8, 3, 9, 5, 7; and the name Smith would have the numbers 1, 4, 9, 2, and 8. Add all the numbers up:
1+6+8+5+8+ 3+9+5+7+1+4+9+2+8 = 76
Follow the same simple addition to reduce the number 76 to a single digit number:
7+6 = 13
1+3 = 4
So your name (John Quincy Smith) adds up to the number "4." The name and birth date numbers are then added together (in this case 4+4 = 8) to arrive at your personal number, which gives you "8" as your personal vibration.
The person doing your numerology reading would use this number to determine your four major core elements and about 20 to 30 modifiers which are specific to you. An evaluation of the symbolism for each of these core elements and the modifiers are intended to provide a complete character analysis that is believed to be fairly accurate.
Each of the numbers - 1 through 9 and the two master numbers 11 and 22 - has its own symbolism.
Sometimes a person's spirit guide will communicate certain number sequences to them. These number sequences have their own unique meaning.
