Conan O'Brien is an Ordained Minister

On October 21, 2011, Conan O'Brien was ordained as a minister by the Universal Life Ministries. Universal Life Ministries is an online ministry that believes that ordination should be available to everyone. You just have to seek and ask for ordination. Universal Life Ministries is non-denominational. They support all walks of faith and encourage you to do the same. The ministry offers online church services from training, to forums to outreach programs.

Conan O'Brien received ministry in order to be able to perform a wedding to be aired on his Late Night Talk Show. The upcoming show hosted by TBS, will feature the union of a long time talk show staffer in a same-sex marriage. The show will be recorded in New York's Beacon Theater. New York legalized gay marriage in June of 2011. The Universal Life Ministries supports Conan O'Brien's decision to officiate this ceremony publicly.
