What Is an Otherkin?

"Otherkin are those who see themselves as partially or entirely non-human. They contend that they are, in spirit if not in body, inhuman. This is explained by some members of the Otherkin community as possible through reincarnation, having a nonhuman soul, ancestry, or symbolic metaphor. Otherkin largely identify as mythical creatures, with others identifying as creatures from fantasy or popular culture. Examples include: angels, demons, elves, sprites, fairies, dragons, and aliens. Many Otherkin believe in the existence of a multitude of parallel/alternative universes, which would explain the existence and the possibility to relate to fantastical beings and even fictional characters."~ wikipedia.com

Inhuman souls in human bodies. Can that be possible? In order to explain this, we need to look at the word "Soul". Is it possible to have an inhuman soul?

Webster's dictionary defines the soul as "the spiritual part of a person that is believed to give life to the body and in many religions is believed to live forever".

If a soul is life and lives forever, isn't it possible for it to have been reincarnated from a different form? Some people believe in the existence of demons and angels masquerading as people on the planet. If this is a fact, than it is also possible for a person to have an other soul, a soul that's from another planet, dimension, or Universe.

Universal Otherkin is the belief that the soul comes from another Universe. They are trapped, coerced, forced, or possessing a human body in the hopes of leaving the planet and traveling back to their original Creator/ God once the life has been terminated.

History of Otherkin

According to some people, the history of Otherkin stems from an elf-based cult that came out of the mid 1990s. But people have been believing in Otherkin since Egyptian times.

Egyptians believed that pharaohs were gods sent in a human body. And the gods were often seen as humanoid figures with the heads of animals. Anubis, the god of the dead, had the head of a dog. Bastet, the goddess of the moon, had the head of a cat. Isis, the goddess of motherhood and fertility, had wings like an angel. Egyptian lore made those in power Otherkin; believing that those in power were more powerful than an average human. Pharaohs, priests, and their children were seen to have inhuman souls so that they could rule the people. They could conquer their enemies. That the Nile would flood every year, and the people could prosper.

In Japan, samurai adopted the Long Wang reference. "The Long Wang were dragon kings who had the authority over life and death because they were responsible for rain, without which life could not continue, and funerals. They were gods of rivers, lakes and oceans, and represented wisdom, strength and goodness. Because they had power over the rain, offerings were made to dragons during droughts, but angry Long Wang sent storms, fog and earthquakes." (Arthur Cotterell, 468). Samurai even wore the masks of dragons, to frighten their enemies, and thick-plated armor to ward off attacks.

Werewolves were especially popular in the middle ages. The belief was that during times of a full moon, sensible men were driven mad. They would conduct horrible crimes, such as murder, incest, rape, cannibalism, disembowelment, torture, and by killing fetuses still in a mother's womb. Notable serial killers with this belief in lycanthropy, (aka werewolves) are:

Pierre Burgot and Michel Verdun (1521 CE)

Peter Stumpp, (1564-1589 CE).

Gilles Garnier (1572 CE)

Werewolf of Chalons (1598 > CE) (name forgotten)

Manuel Blanco Romasanta (1844-1852 CE)

Universal Otherkin

A Universal Otherkin, (aka Realmian), as stated above, is not a regular Otherkin. Most Otherkin believe that they are from this world, this dimension. That they were created by the Source, God, Goddess, or Satan. They still feel as though they are apart of this world. A Universal Otherkin believes they are from another solar system, galaxy, universe, or dimension.

Those that believe that they are Universal, feel a sense of not belonging. They feel lost, different, even hostile towards people in this realm. Some are looking for a new place to live. Others are convinced that they have nowhere left to go. In all cases, Universal Otherkin are a growing populace. In the old days, there was only one case where people were convinced that they had come from:

The story of Atlantis is told by Plato in his work Timaeus:

"For it is related in our records how once upon a time your State stayed the course of a mighty host, which, starting from a distant point in the Atlantic ocean, was insolently advancing to attack the whole of Europe, and Asia to boot. For the ocean there was at that time navigable; for in front of the mouth which you Greeks call, as you say, 'the pillars of Heracles,' there lay an island which was larger than Libya and Asia together; and it was possible for the travelers of that time to cross from it to the other islands, and from the islands to the whole of the continent over against them which encompasses that veritable ocean. For all that we have here, lying within the mouth of which we speak, is evidently a haven having a narrow entrance; but that yonder is a real ocean, and the land surrounding it may most rightly be called, in the fullest and truest sense, a continent. Now in this island of Atlantis there existed a confederation of kings, of great and marvelous power, which held sway over all the island, and over many other islands also and parts of the continent." (Plato, 360).

We all know the story of Atlantis. There once was an island of vast technology, that its people were far more intelligent and superior than those of surrounding areas. They could swim underwater (possibly breathe), had wings like angels, could speak different tongues, and were worshiped almost as gods. One day, their civilization was wiped away and through fire, brimstone, earthquakes, the whole civilization was swallowed by the sea.

A whole culture started to believe, through past regression or past memory, that they were Atlantians. They felt alien, superior, or believed that they had been this ancient race. Unfortunately for these believers, while Plato was describing a real event, it wasn't a magical society, alien, angel or otherwise, but the destruction of Thera. Thera was part of the Minoan civilization and the inhabitants were completely, 100%, human.

Around 1600 BCE, Minoans settled on an island called Thera; there, they mastered much. They were seen as technologically advanced, superior in intelligence as they were making complex calculations. Charting star constellations, mathematics like calculus, learning biology and anatomy, and working with metals such as gold and silver.

In 1500 BCE a massive volcanic eruption on a nearby island was so catastrophic that it wiped Thera into the sea. A tidal wave, consumed the entire island in less than 12 hours. No earthquake, no fire balls, no angry god hurling thunderbolts. A freak act of nature buried this thriving civilization.

So why do people believe that they are from Atlantis? Because they believe they are different. They believe that they are special. That they are lost. That there is no way for people to believe that not only are they not from this world, but they are more advanced than they are.

Universal Otherkin are afraid of failure. They are afraid that they are wrong. They are afraid that they are crazy. But they're not alone.

Universal Otherkin are becoming more popular as a belief. These include:

Star Children (also known as star people or star seeds)-- believe that they are energies from different worlds. They believe that they are living similar realities in multiple realms, or different dimensions. Some people that think they are Star Children include the following experiences:

  • 65% are female: 35% are male
  • Compelling eyes
  • Great magnetism and personal charisma
  • Sensitive to electricity and electromagnetic fields
  • Lower body temperature than the norm
  • Chronic sinustis
  • Extra or transitional vertebra
  • Hypersensitivity to sound, light, odors
  • Swollen or painful joints
  • Pain in the back of the neck
  • Adversely affected by high humidity
  • Survived a life-threatening illness
  • Involved in a severe accident or trauma

  • Feel a tremendous sense of urgency to fulfill their missions
  • Experienced a sense of oneness with the universe
  • Many have difficulty dealing with / or expressing emotions or have a chemical imbalance

Extraterrestrial Experiences

  • All believe in life on other planets
  • Most believe that have lived on another planet and can tell you about it
  • At an early age they had some kind of extraterrestrial, religious or mystical experience
  • Believe they have encountered alien entities of an extraterrestrial or multidimensional level or a being of light
  • Telepathic communication with an alien entity - physical or non-physical
  • They receive some form of communication from a higher source

Indigo Children Coined by Nancy Anne Tappe in the 1950s CE, this is the belief that the soul is alien. Only certain children, those that are born with an indigo aura can be an Indigo child. They are children that are:

They are born feeling and knowing they are special and should be revered.

  1. An indigo knows they belong here as they are and expect you to realize it as well.
  2. These children are more confident and have a higher sense of self-worth.
  3. Absolute authority, the kind with no choices, negotiation, or input from them does not sit well. The educational system is a good example.
  4. Some of the rules we so carefully followed as children seem silly to them and they fight them.
  5. Rigid ritualistic systems are considered archaic to an indigo child. They feel everything should be given creative thought.
  6. They are insightful and often have a better idea of method then what has been in place for years. This makes them seem like "system busters."
  7. Adults often view an indigo as anti-social unless they are with other indigos. Often they feel lost and misunderstood, which causes them to go within.
  8. The old control methods like, "Wait till your father gets home," have no effect on these children.
  9. The fulfillment of their personal needs is important to them, and they will let you know.

Crystal Children (or Rainbow Children) Doreen Virtue categorizes them as, "They are the embodiment of our divinity and the example of our potential. The Rainbow Children have never lived on this planet before, and they’re going straight to the Crystal Children as their moms and dads. These children are entirely fearless of everybody. They’re little avatars who are all about service. These are children who are only here to give—Rainbow Children are already at their spiritual peak.
The first thing that most people notice about them is their eyes—large, penetrating and wise beyond their years. The Crystal Children’s eyes lock on and hypnotize you, while you realize your soul is being laid bare for these children to see. Perhaps you've noticed this special new "breed" of children rapidly populating our planet. They are happy, delightful and forgiving. This generation of new lightworkers, roughly ages 0 through 7, are like no previous generation. Ideal in many ways, Crystal Children are the pointers for where humanity is headed . . . and it's a good direction! "

All alien, like the Atlantians in the past. All with compelling evidence. Creating a generation of those that feel superior to others. Universal Otherkin seem to be everywhere; aliens, trapped in human bodies. For how long, why did they come here, and what's going to happen in the future when this is the norm?

How To Tell An Otherkin VS. A Human

Most mediums can distinguish an Otherkin by their aura. An aura is the energy a person gives off. It's always seen as a color. Some colors include, red, blue, orange, yellow, black, white, green, and purple. Most auras are either one shade completely or a variety of colors. Mediums argue about how many colors a person can radiate. Emotions can cause an aura to shift. People that see aura colors can tell if a person is an Otherkin. Normally, Otherkin will have a brightly shaded aura. Bright whites or gold can signify an Angel. Black auras can indicate sickness or Demons. Muddy brown auras can indicate Elves or Gnomes. Forest green auras can signify Fairies. Rainbow colored auras can indicate Universal Otherkin.

Astral seeing is another method. Astral sensing is a new phenomenon where a medium can "see" into the astral plane, the dividing world between reality and the afterlife. In the astral, not only do people have an aura, but their true nature is visible as well. Angels will have white, silver, or gold wings; demons horns or black wings; fairies will have translucent or opaque wings; elves and gnomes will have pointy ears and appear taller; and Universal Otherkin may have a combination of any of these traits.

Finding out more will always be an issue. Even if this person believes that they are human, or if the inverse is true, and they are human but believe they are Otherkin. No one has the right to decide for someone else what they can or should believe in. Some mediums believe that they can find out more.

Be careful here. If you are being conned or scammed for money, this is illegal. Once money is exchanged, a medium does not have to tell you what you want to hear. In fact, the more money that is exchanged, the higher the chances are that you're not going to hear what you believe is true. Mediums that do pro bono work, especially in Otherkin cases, can be more accurate than those that charge. Otherkin are still highly disagreed upon. If you believe you are one, seek out help that you feel comfortable with. If at any time, exchanging money feels wrong or uncomfortable, it's okay to refer to another medium.

There are a few ways that mediums can "tell" you more about yourself if you are an Otherkin.

Past Life Regression Therapy is done in hypnosis where the person recalls events, people, or worlds under the guise of a medium or a therapist. Past Life Regression has become less and less popular of a method because of implantation. Implantation is a method where therapists or mediums steer you into a reality that did not happen. Like those that believe they were abducted by aliens or those in the Manchurian Project in the late 1960s. This method can cost you thousands of dollars. Repeat sessions are often needed to paint an entire canvas.

Tarot/ Rune/ or Divination reads are reads that can be done in person or over the internet for a nominal fee. They are done with one question reads, and normally give just a yes or a no, not really elaborating on what was done or who you really are. Some readers are very vague when doing readings (even paid ones). Trust will be crucial here. To find out any information, you're going to need time and patience.

Cold Reads/ Dark Reads are reads that are done by someone already claiming to be Otherkin. They may tell you that they know everything about your world, how it came to it's end. These should be done by someone you ABSOLUTELY, 100%, TRUST AND BELIEVE!! Even if they're free, the information will be so convincing that you will start to believe. Not every Dark or Cold reader has evil or negative intentions. But some of them do. Be extremely careful when being given information.

Otherkin As A Religion

Otherkin as a belief or a religion is starting to gain more ground. As more and more people start to believe that they have past roots, past lives, or have supernatural powers; more and more Otherkin start to emerge.

Social sites, like Facebook and Twitter, have dozens of groups that you can join that have Otherkin in their name. That are looking for Otherkin like themselves, to talk and have relationships with. Whether or not this is a belief that you take seriously, there are thousands, all over the world, that are adamant that they are. The theories are gaining more and more ground. It's becoming more and more acceptable to believe in not only an afterlife, but in alternate dimensions. No matter what you believe in, it will not stop the growing number of people that this feels like truth. They believe this is their destiny.
