Venus Retrograde March 6-April 15, 2017: What It Means for You
The Lovely Lady's In for Maintenance
The Landscape of Relationships
The planet Venus, which from Earth looks like a brilliant star, will "retrograde," or appear to travel backward in the sky, from March 6, 2017 to April 15, 2017, or about 40 days. Planetary retrogrades are normal and predictable. You've heard people speak about "Mercury retrograde," which happens three times a year. Venus goes retrograde approximately every 18 months. The previous Venus retrograde period was July to September 2015.
During that period you probably made a mistake in love or money. Maybe you were sweet-talked; maybe you were desperate. Or both! Now you know better. That was Venus retrograde's gift to you. This time around she will change your love focus to friendships, work relationships, family, clubs, classes, church, and other types of contact with human beings besides tempestuous romance and sex. There's so much more in life that's true and good!
Venus retrograde will invite you to see the whole landscape of your relationships and how much true love surrounds you. Refuse her invitation and you will likely be confused as to why you feel so alone.
Venus is the Roman goddess of love and beauty. Besides love and sex, the planet Venus also governs women, art, diplomacy, fashion, luxuries, hospitality, sweets, and entertainment. Cravings for sugar and carbs are usually on the rise as Venus prepares to turn retrograde. It's not a good time to date someone new or throw a big party, although a party or wedding already planned will be no problem. Schedule cosmetic surgery or a radical new hairdo or makeover in May 2017 and no earlier.
An Abundance of Love in Your Life
One of the monster pitfalls of Venus retrograde is the temptation to buy items and trinkets that are beyond your budget because you are feeling unloved. Stop! You are not unloved! Seek out family and friends and hug and reassure each other. Fight petty and catty urges. Consciously steer conversations toward the positive.
Neutralize any unwanted Venus retrograde effects by expressing love and appreciation to people whose goodness you take for granted, such as your bank teller, pharmacist, dog groomer, neighbor, spouse, and friends. They're the stars in the sky of your life. If you're shy, send a thank-you note!
During Venus retrograde, friends and customers might say "no" when you counted on "yes," and seem irritable. They reflect your own dissatisfaction with the value of what you offer them. Any shortcuts you took or corners you cut might become obvious, and until April 15 you have a chance to fix them, or to apologize if you were the irritable one.
A therapist once said, "The reason there are so many people on earth is that we are here to help each other."
Look Good in Case Your Ex Sees You
A former lover or former spouse might bounce back into your life during Venus retrograde. Give in and you won't like yourself in the morning. Maybe you two first met during the unfortunate 2015 Venus retrograde in Leo and Virgo that created a real power imbalance. You've outgrown each other. There's no going back. Stay calm, and when you leave the house make an effort to look good because you might meet the ex by chance.
Note to cheaters: This retrograde is in the strong sign of Aries, backtracking briefly into Pisces, so expect to get caught or ratted out, and expect a confrontation. Faithful lovers have nothing to fear. If Venus exposes your loved one as a cheater or a "front loader" who promised the world and hasn't delivered, that is Venus retrograde's gift to you. Kick 'em to the curb with no regrets. Having more time to yourself you can get back in contact with true friends and like-minded people.
Venus retrograde can bring happy endings to tense situations, especially those big enough to be national or international news. Remember the Chilean miners trapped underground in 2010 -- for a week? Their miraculous survival was a gift of Venus, retrograde at the time.
Draw inner strength from classic activities and entertainments such as books, music, art, or walking, and friends. Tone down impulsive behavior. Try filtering what comes into your mind and spirit to make room for more love of life and what nourishes you: children, parents, grandparents, siblings, nieces, fellowship, pets, exercise, healthy food, Sunday dinners, co-workers, longtime friends.
There's so much in life to enjoy, and so many people who are happy to see you! Never forget that!
