What Do You Think Hell Will Be Like?

I can’t tell you for sure what hell will be like because I have never been there but I can give you a good idea of what it will be like. It would be nice if we could have a glimpse of what heaven and hell looks like, but than faith and believing wouldn’t mean much. Many times we hear people tell others if you keep doing what you are doing you will go to hell, and they will say jokingly well all my friends will be there to. And that may be true but I can tell you that in hell there will not be any friends or friendships, you will not be able to reach out to another and say I love you, there is no love in hell.

This is the place of damnation you are in a darkness of all the positive things you once know, you are no longer connected to the love of God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit. There is only rejection, hatred and despair in hell you are blind to all that is beautiful and good and true. Those who are damned to hell are weighed down with a boredom and a emptiness inside where God’s love once lived, they hate themselves for what they are.

Many people will say that if God love is so great for us why don’t He help us see the light, He does but God takes our free will that He gave us seriously. He lets us go our own way; He pours graces on us; He sends messengers into our lives. He knocks on the doors of our souls and calls loudly to us, but if we don’t hear or listen than there is not much more He can do.

In some way the teaching on hell is one of the easiest truths of the Faith to accept, because we see previews of hell all around us. There are so many who not only do evil, they love evil. They go around looking for trouble, violence and hatred are their atmosphere they exist in. Evil begins to destroy us deep within, this is the hell we refuse to come out of, no matter what grace or light God may send. There is one thing the Lord never does, He does not force our will. Our will is our own,God touches, urges, inspires all of that but He never forces. All of this within space and time of our life; at death we leave the chance to change behind, we never change our minds again. We enter into what we have chosen to become.

We need grace to begin to see ourselves as we are before God. We need even more grace to prepare ourselves to live comfortably in the light  of goodness and love and truth. We need God’s help to take the evil from within us and replace it with His everlasting  love.   He is calling us……..will  we hear Him?

full of christians wearing a lot of suprised looks. Seriously, if I am wrong and there is a hell, I will have those suprised looks to keep me entertained. Only problem is that just like this world, there will be so many christians in hell, they will mess up a really good thing. I for one hope christians start acting a little more like they were taught to. They are on a one way elevator ride to hell right now. Please christians, start acting like you know your supposed to for a change. I don't know what makes you feel that you have theright to ruin hell for those of us who are looking forward to the break from all of you good people.

You are correct in saying that some peple are on a one way elevator to hell right now. There are many who have no sense of concience at all and who don't know God because children are not taught religion anymore and that is sad.

"There is only rejection, hatred and despair in hell you are blind to all that is beautiful and good and true. Those who are damned to hell are weighed down with a boredom and a emptiness inside...."

That can be right here on Earth in any time period of ones life and in any circumstance wehre one cannot see there is an out or have a helping hand to pull them from their despair. Then again there are many who do this with everyone and if everything was perfect then there would be no reason to be here at all or even to exist.

kashmir56 profile image

You are right Lady Guinevere nothing is perfect on earth, and I'm sure some people feel like that in their life's,but they still have God's love inside them some where. In hell they won't.

This is our life and everything is WITHIN us. Heaven and Hell are in our imaginations and our imaginations is what gets us to grow. We are in control of everything we see, think and do and there is nothing else that is responsible for those things we make happen through our thoughts and emotions. It wouldn't mater if we were on Earth or another Planet or in Air or anything like that--it is still all the same WITHIN each of us.

Wow. What you said about how we witness 'hell' here on earth already was profound. Right now we have a mixture of wheat and tares ~ bringing some balance to things and hope for the lost. I imagine earthly prisons, some 'higher security' than others. The worst criminals are placed in the higher security prisons; the lesser offenders in lower security prisons. But, even in prison, prisoners are protected to some degree from the schemes of others that seek to harm them. There are pastors and teachers that are placed there to help them turn around and freedom is a possiblity for some.

However, if we were to imagine the world without the wheat, pastors or teachers, without the protection...some call it a 'dog eat dog' world ~ in hell there is no such light, no such hope, only 'dog eat dog'. It's a done deal. No one knows if tomorrow will come ~ salvation is given already to those who will receive it. Praise God there is yet hope for one more minute, hour, day...

2 Cor 6:2 "Behold, NOW is 'THE ACCEPTABLE TIME,' behold, NOW is 'THE DAY OF SALVATION'--

Heb 4:7 “TODAY, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.”

May Jesus Christ be praised!! God bless you!!

You are right on what the bible say, which is what I test everything against. It really frustrates me when I try to compare the bible to the Quaran where alot of the verses they talk about are similar. I have been on a journey, in my heart I believe that Jesus Died for us and I worship him and love him, but I also have friends that try so hard to tell me different in comparison to the quaran. If you know anything about it, they talk about the birth of christ and it s the same but they don't believe Jesus is God's son. They dont believe he died on the cross. Bible says god hates sin, and I know he gives us free will, I chose to believe Bible, but what do I tell my muslim friends without sounding hostile .. I just pray for god to give me the words.

I believe that there is a hell, not because of what people told me but because I read it in bible, the quaran also talks of a hell and that is what I mean, they seem to follow a similar path but so different.

I liked your hub..

I don't believe hell is eternal as has bene taught by the church for the past couple centuries. I recently wrote a blog wiht some questions about hell: http://hubpages.com/religion-philosophy/Whos-Going...

I think Christians and the church have been misteaching the Bible, either intentionally or not, and I think that needs to be rectified. The idea of hell as an eternal place of torment has only bene taught commonly in the church for a few hundred years, and it's neve rhinted at in the Torah.

I enjoyed you're hub very much. I believe Heaven is about love , not being able to love is like existing in a gray world. There are so many ways that hell can be experienced on earth, yet there is love here too. Any torture, or pain could be like hell whether it be mental , or physical. I believe in God, and that Heaven is very real. God Bless You , and you're heart is good.

Hi PDXKaraokeGuy nice to see you, we can believe what ever we want to, but what would be the point of having a place like hell if it were not eternal. If people knew they could get out of hell at the end of time, than what would be the point of even trying to be good. Thanks so much for stopping by and to for your nice comments !

No one who really understands what hell is going to be like would want to experience it, here on earth or in the ever after. The Bible's Parable of the Weeds (Matthew 13:36-43) explains for us what is going to happen at the end of the ages:

(New International Version)

36 Then he left the crowd and went into the house. His disciples came to him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.”

37 He answered, “The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one, 39 and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.

40 “As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. 42 They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let them hear.

Jesus is the sower of good seed. Satan the sower of the weeds. It is our choice whether to be tended by Jesus or to belong to the deceiver. Jesus saves! The alternative to faith in Jesus is death and destruction (hell in a fiery furnace, with weeping and gnashing of teeth). Satan will run away with your heart if you withhold it from Jesus, and the cost to those who do not believe in Jesus will be unbearable. Not because God isn't merciful, He is, but because He is righteous and He is "The Judge" of this world. He sent Jesus to save us if we will accept Him. We do not have to accept Him as Lord and Savior of our hearts, it's our choice to make. The outcome will be wonderful for those who chose to follow Jesus, and it will be more intolerable than they can possibly imagine for those who have rejected Him.

Hi Cathleena nice to see you, yes you are right about what is going to happen at the end of the ages . We must accept Our Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and believe He died for forgiveness of all our sins and the sins of the world . Thanks so much for your nice comments and to for stopping by !

Christians NEED TO HEAR ABOUT HELL!!! (sorry for 'yelling' lol!) Preachers don't speak about it enough! I read "Hell and How to avoid hell in 10th grade! It was great! God bless St. John Vianney for converting thousands -or more- by his sermons which were not mincing words!

Kashmir, more and more the idea of annihilation, taught by Jehovah's Witnesses, doesn't seem as far off base as it once did. God is not a sadist and no one benefits from eternal punishment. The Bible says God will restore all things unto Him in the end, would not human souls be under the umbrella of "all things"? Furthermore, God is just and punishing someone eternally for a finite lifetime of sin is in no way just...

Interesting Hub!

My thoughts on hell if one does exist beyond this planet:

Hell will be horrible like how it would feel when you look at the mirror and see a rotten face decorated by all the wrongs you did and sins you committed in this life. You cannot look at that face because of shame; Still neither would your eyes close nor would your face turn away from it, no matter how hard you try.. Uffffffffffff....

I think that we definitely get a taste of what hell will be like. Just look at the recent carnage at Sandy Hook elementary school in Connecticut. I feel so sorry for the many families who are now grieving the deaths of their loved ones who were snatched away from them in such a horrific manner. It affects the psyche of all of us when things like this happen and makes one think of the afterlife and what it will be like.

Hi Tom, another fascinating and thought provoking hub! I wonder if its the case that people can create their own hell? The mind is such a powerful instrument that can be used spiritually for good or for evil. But nothing is without consequence. If you purposely allow evil thoughts to filter through your mind and especially acting out those thoughts, the I wonder if the hell for that person has been created in imitation of every evil that person has carried out and more?

Also when, I look around at some places on this planet and the acts of atrocity carried out, I think that this is hell.

A wonderful hub Tom, that gets to the very heart of the matter!
