What holiness people believe!
Many people have heard of Holiness in some way and many wonder what is it. Holiness is one of the many denominations of Christianity. It is a pentecostal religion. Holiness people believe that they should live their lives to the best of their abilities, being holy like god. This comes from 1 Peter 1:16 where it states " Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy." In saying this I would also like to state that Holiness people use the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible. There are many principles and standards to Holiness.
To begin lets talk about the clothing standard. Holiness people dress very modestly. The men do not wear shorts, only pants, and their shirts always have a sleeve (meaning no muscle shirts and tanks etc.) Their hair stays at a length that is normally above the ear. Women in the Holiness movement wear shirts with sleeves as well, coming to at least halfway between the shoulder and elbow. They only wear skirts(decent length). Also they wear very decent neck lines. These beliefs come from Deuteronomy 22;5 "The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God." Women of this movement do not cut their hair because the bible says a woman's hair is her glory. This comes from 1 Corinthians chapter 11. Neither holiness men nor women wear jewelry.They do not wear make-up either
Next we will talk about spiritual beliefs. Holiness people believe in salvation (accepting Jesus Christ as your savior), and as you become sanctified as you become more like Christ. They also believe in being filled with the Holy Ghost. They also believe in the Trinity -: God the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Ghost. They pray and fast as well.
Other denominations often associated with holiness are Apostolic ( similar dress codes, but differences in spiritual beliefs) Charismatic ( similar spiritual belifs, but different lifestyle and dress codes) Pentecostal-Assembly of God( similar spirtual beliefs but different lifestyle and dress codes)
