Why Did The Angels Fall From Heaven?

God created the Heaven's and the Earth, but He also created Angels. The names of these Angels are a mystery, but the fact that they fell from Heaven is not. The fall of the Angels was started by Lucifer who is also called, the Devil, and the Angel of Light.

The fact that Satan was cast out of Heaven is found in the Bible John 10:18 And he said unto them, I behold, Satan as lightning fall from Heaven.

There are several reasons Satan and his followers, about 1/3 of the Angels in Heaven were cast out.

1) Satan and his followers were angry and jealous, so they started to rebel. They wanted to be one of the gods, not just and Angel created by God.

2) Some believe the first sin was created by Adam and Eve because they ate from the Tree of Knowledge. It was a sin, but not the first. The first sin, was committed by Satan. Satan turned himself into a serpent, who lied to Eve, tempted her into eating the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil.

3) The Sons of God who saw, (Angels?) the daughter's of men, that they were beautiful; And they took them for their wives.

Archeology has shown us human remains with very large bones of men who have been called giants.

4) And there were giants on the earth in those days; and after that when the Sons of God came into the daughter's of men, and have children to them, which became mighty men of old. Men of renown.

Archeology has shown us human remains with very large bones of men who have been called giants.

After Satan was cast out from Heaven and fell to earth, he very quietly to bring evil onto the earth. Not long after leaving the Garden of Eden, Eve had two children. One named Cain, one named Abel. Cain was very jealous of Abel, and therefore he killed Abel.

As we know, sin grew rapidly upon this world. God became angry and decided to destroy the earth by using a flood. The earth my have been destroyed by a flood, but sin was not. As we know, sin grew rapidly. Look at the world today. Sin has become so large we cannot even see all of it. Mankind has the ability to destroy the the entire world in a short time.

All the sins on earth, have been given to us, by the wickedness of Satan.

I believe they fell from "Grace" with God. I'm not sure if they fell from the heavens though.

The Kabbala is where the entire account and many of the names and ranks of the angels are found. Lucifer was cast down and confined to earth. A third of the stars fell with him. They too, are confined to the earth, presumably.

Michele, very interesting. I have always believed satan took a third of the angels with him from Heaven when he was cast down to earth, but I am trying to find the specific scripture about that subject. Well done. In His Love, Faith Reaper

Angel's fell from Heaven the fallen angel Lucifer was the mightiest angel created by GOD Lucifer thought being the mightiest of all I deserve a place equal to GOD cause I was made for being over all others not being able to get what he desired he tried to rebel against GOD thus becoming the fallen angel. That's what I knew and the emergence of sin started from Lucifer(satan) (the first lie as you mentioned) emergence of hell was by satan (the place they fell to after they were cast away from Heaven. It is mentioned in Revelation 12:3-4 about the 3rd of stars and in Luke 10:18 about the fall of angels like that of lightning..

Good write up on this topic. It was the very horrific sin of pride and rebellion that banned them from heaven. They did cause, and still do, a lot of problems on earth such as the giants.

Can I ask you a question?

Why do you believe that satan is responsible for the world's sins?

Do you believe in free will? Or free choice? Do people choose to kill? to steal? etc... or does this "Satan" guy make people decide to kill? to steal?, etc...

Michele Travis profile image

Michele Travis 4 years ago from U.S.A. Ohio Author

Yes, I believe in free will and free choice. This satan guy does not force anyone to do anything. However, he can fool people. He can tempt people, into loving money more then anything. Did I say we are perfect? No. Satan does not "Make" us do anything. However he has "Given" us a lot.

John King IV 4 years ago

ok thank you for your views on satan. One more question if you do not mind. Why would your god, or gods, allow satan to have this authority?

I am on my way out for a little while, I will be back. Do you mind if I think about this, before giving a quick answer?

no problem...

Well as you know, God has never forced His will upon anyone or anything. Of course He has forced 1/3 of the angels out of heaven during the war in heaven. That is written in the book of Daniel.

However, satan does not have the will of God, or the power of God. Satan could not force God out of heaven. Satan can blind us, and fool us. That can be done very easily. So many love money, how many politicians are only politicians because they want to help people?

As for God allowing satan to have free will, God created the angels before He created humans. God did not create robots, He allowed the angels to have free will. So, they did have the right to be evil.

They were cast out of heaven, after the war in heave, but having free will was something they were allowed to keep.

John King IV 4 years ago

So I guess free will is the answer then? angels like satan and others have authority, because your god willed things to be this way?

I think I understand your view.

Michele Travis profile image

Yes, it is free will...

"Lucifer" means "Son of the Morning", not "Angel of Light", but it is close. Lucifer was cast out of Heaven for rebelling against God's plan, which is the plan of redemption. The plan in which Christ was chosen to come to earth and perform the atonement. Lucifer wanted to be the savior, but he would make it so we wouldn't have our agency to choose bad things, and he wanted all the glory to himself. Christ, on the other hand, allowed our agency to choose for ourselves, and the Glory be to the Father. Lucifer was angry, convinced 1/3 the hosts of Heaven to follow him, and was cast out for rebellion. Thus came the devil and his angels, otherwise known as demons

Thank you, Michele. I don't know that I'd consider myself a very good Scriptorian, there are still so many things I can learn from them, but I do have a good understanding in many areas. If you'd like, I created a page on Squidoo that helps clarify wording/meaning in the scriptures. it can be found here if you're interested squidoo.com/understanding-the-language-of-scripture
