The Woman with the Issue of Blood

The woman entered the crowd with great anticipation, that if she could only get close enough to Jesus, to touch him she’d be healed.  For twelve years she was subject to a bleeding condition and suffered much pain under the care of doctors.  She had spent all the money she had on these doctors, never finding a cure. But her suffering didn’t stop there because of her bleeding she was considered unclean therefore she was isolated her from family and friends. In other words whatever this woman came in contact with would be considered unclean.

Surely from the excessive loss of blood that drained from her body, she had grown weak and frail.  Depression had surely visited her on more than one occasion. But today she would let nothing stop her from seeking Jesus. Slowly she eased her way through the large crowd unable to see in front of her. Then suddenly she heard the voice of a man speak, it was Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue, "My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her, and she will live."

At that moment Jesus and his disciples got up and went with Jairus. Immediately the woman found and opening and she pushed her way through to Jesus. Suddenly without fear she reached out and touched the fringe of his clothes and at that very moment she knew that she was healed.

 “Who touched me?”  Jesus asked.

Peter one of Jesus disciples looked into the crowd and said, “Master there are many in the crowd any one could have pressed into you.”

Jesus said, “No someone touched me; for I noticed that power had gone out from me”.

The woman was terrified for she knew that she had broken the purity law and by touching Jesus she had made him ritually unclean.  Shaking with fear the woman realized she could no longer hide.  She walked over to Jesus and feel down at his feet and declared in the presence of all the people, “It was I who touched you master.  For I knew if I could only touch your cloak, I would be healed.”

Jesus was gentle and kind to the woman.  He did not rebuke her or make her feel unclean.  Jesus looked at her and said, “Daughter your faith has made you whole arise and go in peace.”

There are many who maybe suffering today.  The doctors may have told you there is no cure.  Friends and family may have isolated themselves from you.  You may even feel unworthy or unclean.  It doesn’t matter what you maybe going through Jesus is waiting, he loves you and wants to call you “daughter.”  Where ever you are “reach out to Jesus” and he will set you free.

All you have to do is trust and believe.  To God be the glory for the wonderful things He has done.

A wonderful hub LPinky,

I love this story of the determined woman whose "pushy" faith in Jesus brought her the salvation she sought. Jesus loves us and is fully aware of the vulnerability of our faith. But He is encouraging us to take courage, put our fears aside, and "go for the prize." Thank you and God bless!

Forever His,
