    Do you believe in Karma?

Do you believe that what you do in life will come back and haunt you? Does this directly effect your actions?

Not necessarily come back and haunt you but rather teach you lessons that were not recognized at the time.

For me, I used to believe in Karma coming from Buddhism background. But Karma seems to have too negative effects. I mean only sufferings and misfortune are often labeled as Karma, but when it comes to wealth, they say it again " It is luck." But now having become a Christian, I can now say as the Bible says " A man reaps as he sows".

absolutely.  I am 58 yrs old and I have seen so many cases of karma (good and bad) really coming back to help or hurt people.  It might not be instant, but it seems to happen eventually, when the universe (or God) thinks it's the right time.

Yes I do believe in a form of karma, I want to do good things because they are the right things, the right decisions to make, doing good things and expecting something in return is not the way to go about it.

when you ask questions and people have different definitions for the words you will get different answers. Most people have no idea what Karma is.

They think its sort of what comes around goes around

Not only actions, but thoughts as well. Then again there is that which is beyond karma.

I most certainly do.  I have definitely experienced bad karma in the past and I must say that the fear of experiencing bad karma again in the future has a major influence on my actions.

no. it's like luck, it's just how people percieve things that happen and need a word for it to make sense. things happen and that's just how life is.

I believe what goes around comes around, you can't go around doing bad things, without expecting a consequence. Sooner or later it will catch up to you.

CONSEQUENCES shall return to us.As we make choices they are of good and evil consequences. They return to us as we choose their action and actions of SPIRITUALITY within our spirits.
SO when you wonder why in the world certain activities come into your life that causes vexation of spirit,or a great reward.KNOW THIS:SOMEWHERE IN YOUR DECISIONS OF LIFE,you have made good and bad choices that have return to you in good and bad consequences.

i do indeed, i believe in karma more than i believe in religion, not that I'm not open to the concept, but i truly believe there is more evidence to prove karma than magical spirits in the sky

I would like to, but then how do you explain why good things happen to such bad people?
I just continue to live my life right because that's what I can control. I don't worry about what could happen.

Definitely! It's what keeps me sane when people treat me badly - be it exes, the office busybody or neighbours from hell. I repeat to myself "don't think about them, don't think of ways to expose them or get your own back, don't even think about them for a second - karma will get them in the end if they treat everyone like this. And often it does!

Although the other week, I helped out an old lady who had slipped on the ice, then missed my bus to a freelance job and had to wait half an hour in the snow for another one. That did not feel like good karma :-D

To every action there is reaction, There can not be anything else in the governance of this universe apart from actions (Karma) and that includes your thoughts as well...You can read my hub "you are destined...." for a perfect answer to this law.

Yes, I do believe in Karma.  I believe in the equilibrium of the universe.  Even the Bible points it out, each one will reap what he sow.

Yes, I do.  I think "what goes around comes around" is a real phenomenon.  Doing good results eventually in good coming back in some form later...

  28. cardelean profile image87
    cardeleanposted 13 years ago

DEFINATELY.  You may not always see someone else get the "bad" Karma that they give but I have personally experienced the bounty of good Karma.  I try to treat everyone with kindness and respect and help out when I can.  I have been on the receiving end of things that I would not have expected to happen.  The Golden Rule, what goes around comes around, whatever you want to call it, it exists.

I believe that for every action, there is an opposite reaction. Which makes life really suck sometimes.

  32. Jean Bakula profile image92
    Jean Bakulaposted 13 years ago

Yes, definitely. Every cause has an effect. Every action causes a reaction. My husband & I embarked upon a 6 year Metaphysics course last Fall. The last one covered Hermetic laws, but touched a little on karma. You cannot expect to go through life and believe that what you do has no effect on you or the others in your life. Or others not in your life--say your job gets sent to India? It began with you, even if it ended up there. I probably will write a hub on this eventually, but will be focused on chakras, auras, karma and reincarnation in our next course, so that will keep me busy (and in hubs material), though I have been writing alot of book reviews lately. I read often and its safer! Metaphysics belief is in life after death, or reincarlnation. They believe that after the body dies, the soul has a period to review what was done and not done in this life. With the help of Masters, you choose your circumstances that you need to come back into to learn whatever lessons you failed to learn or didn't have time to learn in the old life. Karma has to be balanced, but lots of it is good. One good thought, deed or act can erase several bad deeds.

I do... I think.  I don't know exactly how it works and hope everything I've done doesn't come back to me.  You know how we human beings tend to think stuff just won't happen to us!  smile  But I do think there will be a natural consequence or reaction to everything we do.  And I think I believe that sometimes unrelated things happen as an unrelated result of the actions we take.  On crazy days, I even think I have stubbed my toe or bumped my knee because I said something mean!  But does it affect my actions?  Not really -  again, bad stuff won't ever happen to me of course!  smile  And I definitely do not do good thinks with the expectancy that I'll get something in return.  I do hope I will be blessed and forgiven because of my good heart and good deeds.

Karma, basically is the belief of Hindist. If we do something good, we will get good thing; but if we do something bad, we also will get bad thing one time in the future.
But in Islam, we do not believe in Karma thoroughly, but only partly -- and it is also in different scope. There is no guarantee, if you do something good, you will also get good things instantly, it needs process. Furthermore, if you do something bad (sins), you will get the return (bad luck) if you do not as for forgiveness to whom you did it, soon or later or in the day after as well as to Allah (the God)..... But, if you are forgiven, the matters will be different.
If you do not respect your parents, never hope your children will respect you; If you are stingy, never hope other will be generous to you; if do not do homage to your God, never hope your God will help you at the time you need Him.
