I firmly believe there are a few reasons people get angry. First let me say that many of us will direct our anger on the innocent, before we realize what we are really upset about. This can be disastrous.
Folks get angry because they feel insecure, they have low self esteem and feel a need to be the best at everything and anything. A secure person can calmly address the issue and deal with it.
Folks get angry due to the wrong medication, or the wrong mixture of medications.
It is much easier to take your displeasure and place it at the feet of God and leave it there, and move on with your life, than to get angry.
Anger is like a disease, it eats and eats on your soul. It is very unhealthy to be an angry person.
You asked for cures. I have found the very best cure is to give it to God and let go. However, everyone does not have that kind of faith and I more than understand that.
You can take whatever makes you angry (we are not talking about just being upset - but angry) and metaphorically bury it in the flower bed, or the yard or the pot sitting in your yard.
While you do this, you must believe you are truly burying your anger. You dig the dirt, place the troubles in the hole, cover it with dirt and plant a flower if you can. Take a moment of silence to regroup your thoughts. You just might find that a great burden has been lifted off of you.
There are lots of ways to "rid" yourself of anger, however I recommend the most calm ways. I do not recommend punching a pillow or screaming or yelling. The idea is to calm your soul, not stir it up. I once buried my anger with my friend. As I saw the coffin being let down into the ground I felt the most awesome peace come over me.
I hope this has helped.
