How does someone deal with psychological problem without seeing a psychologist.....
are self applied drugs and herbs really as dangerous they make it sound and are there really side effects.......my cousin claims he did it and I find it hard to believe.....what do u think
Really depends on how serious the problem is! Serious psychological disorders like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder etc., should always be treated for cure. If one develops a depression related to job or relationship or something like that, which is short term in nature, meditation is really helpful. Self applied drugs and herbs should not be used without proper information.
I believe that he could have done it as many medications are derivatives of herbs. People used to know more about herbs and how to self-medicate. However, one must be cautious about blends of herbs that may counteract with other medications they may be taking, side effects, low quality products or even dangerous products. Most over the counter (OTC) drugs are not governed by the FDA. If your cousin is doing well, that is great. Perhaps he was one of the very fortunate who hit upon something that was of good quality, the right dosage, and did not cause any negative side effects. Good for him but I would suspect most people would not have such luck. Keep in mind that even doctors will tell you that they do not really understand why some medications work for psychological conditions - just that that they do. They are learning much but have much to learn.
Herbs used for treatment are without side effects & are completely safe. As long as the herbs used are correct for what is being treated & are taken in around the suggested amounts then they wont hurt you.
All drugs have side effects of some description, even if they are not felt in the way you would expect -somehow, somewhere in the body they are having negative effect because they are 'unnatural'.
I guess the answer to this question would depend entirely on the individual & what exactly they are attempting to deal with here? The key to overcoming any such illness lies within ones own mind, in terms of their belief, determination & overall strength.
In my opinion, "Yes," this is very possible as long as you are willing & ABLE to recognise the source of the problem. For some this may appear more obvious; a person, situation, lifestyle etc. But for many the guidance of a spiritual healer may be the best option for assisting them in getting to the true source of the problem & then discovering how best to finally lay the issue to rest.
I hate to say it, but self diagnosing a psychological problem and finding a cure for yourself could only be a continuation of the psychological problem and being in denial. It is always best to get a professional's opinion if there really and truly is a problem.
I do think that I benefit from taking a natural mood enhancing supplement called Sam-E and I have seen great improvement. I also read the Bible and do yoga for inner peace.
It is definitely not something I would consider psychological.
I'd really have a good, long, sit down chat with your cousin to determine if intervention is needed. Like mentioned before, blending the wrong kind of herbs can do more harm then good.
I have a friend that now lives in Vietnam that blended some completely harmless herbs that he took orally for some time, until he decided to smoke it, (not saying your cuz did or will) but he now thinks he lives in a video game, spiders are taking over the world, and he only communicates with people who have a blue halo over their head.
Herbs should be okay to me. But I personally believe that it will be best deal with talking with someone close to get the problem out.
I do believe diet plays a big roll in our mental health. It effects more than we realize. Worth checking into.
YES they are VERY dangerous. The natural drugs and herbal remedies that you can find in the marketplace usually are not FDA approved and thus usually have unhealthy levels of chemicals. It's almost the same as trying an experimental drug that's still in testing since there are almost no regulations. Plus if you're self-dosing, you might accidentally mix medications that have chemicals that'd react badly together which can potentially lead to death! I would recommend getting prescription meds. from a doctor to help instead of self-dosing
If you want to deal with a psychological problem without going to a doctor, I would suggest starting a heavy exercise regime. Exercise raises your endorphin levels which can give you a natural high that isn't dangerous.
I would try exercise. When your body is tired it's very hard to worry and fret. There are many kinds of psychological problems, but for the most part, you can help yourself by helping others.

Where does someone like me, with psychic ability, fit into Christianity? Do you think I am evil?I believe in God & Jesus & God's Holy Spirit. But I was born psychic. I see dead people and I talk to dead people. It is a God-given ability. I help people. Yet I cannot label myself as...

At what point does someone stop being human?Just wrote a hub on Deus Ex, and it really got me thinking. At what point does someone stop being human? Technology is progressing rather quickly, and things like robotic limbs and augmented mental states seem to be close to reality. So, my question to...

I have been an insomniac all of my life. Even as a young child I remember laying in bed night after night, trying to occupy my mind to starve off the crazies. It has stayed with me my whole life and I will probably have to deal with it forever. I'm lucky if I sleep 3 hours a night, if I...

I have a very simple question and hope some here will share their thoughts. It is very clear that the media, and yes, people in general seem not to have a problem with Joe Biden's propensity to make up stories, or as some see it simple gaffes. Some appear to even just assume what his words mean.The...

I see that some of them are following many people and I understand the reciprocity factor but I don't...
