I used to be, until I realized that even perfection wasn't good enough for most people.
I am trying to stay as away as possible from people who are perfectionists - there is nothing more abominable than trying to be perfect.
It is our imperfections that make us human and lovable.
The human story does not always unfold like a mathematical calculation on the principle that two and two make four. Sometimes in life they make five or minus three; and sometimes the blackboard topples down in the middle of the sum and leaves the class in disorder and the pedagogue with a black eye. ~Winston Churchill
I'm afraid not. I've always admired people who could set out a task and then complete it to their satisfaction (perfection?). However, my mind does not work that way. Perhaps a less odious way of saying this is simply to admit that I am, in truth, a slob.
I am constantly multi-tasking and simultaneously doing several different things at the same time. If I do seem to finish or accomplish something, it is mostly because I stumble on to it.
I truly believe, that for me, Chaos has a sort of symmetry and structure. I tend to drive a compulsive crazy, but that the way it is. No, I do not consider myself to be a perfectionist.
more like procrastination + perfectionist, the moment you know you can't finish in time,. you stop doing it. lol
I consider myself an non-practicing perfectionist................
often but I quit being one because I always find my self frustrated with the outcome for there is really no such thing as perfect ; everything is bound to have their own flaws.
Professionally,as a doctor, Im trying always to be perfect.
Privately Im more relaxed and like fun, music, glass of good wine....
Some times I find myself doing the same task over and over again until I get it right, and most of the time I always settle for my best attempt. As with a lot of things in life I tend to only see what I make it in my mind and therefore am -and I regret to say- a bit picky when it comes to my life. I have all these idea's in my mind of what I want my life to be, but they are completely unrealistic, so most of the time I just give up, though I know I shouldn't. Good question
Ugh, yes...and sometimes I can be my own worst enemy. I've gotten better in my old age and am able to let things go a little better than I used to, but there are times when I drive myself crazy with trying to get things just right. I married a man with a golden retriever...that settled me down a little because there's no way I can keep up with dog fur and nose marks on my windows, so I've relaxed just a tad.
No. Perfectionism is anti productive. Right now I have a hub rated at 99, but it goes up and down daily. I think that my grammar and punctuation in that hub is horrific, so if I un published it to correct it, or worried about it too much - it wouldn't be getting all of the traffic that it is getting.
not at all...i make a lot of mistakes and so i don't judge anybody who does...we are humans...it's expected
Yes, and a perfectionist is not perfect. I sometimes "fix" something until I break it.
I used to be until I realized that I was wasting so much time trying to have everything perfect that I was missing out on life. I have learned how to delegate and if something isn't done the way I would do it, I deal with it. I am much happier this way!
Die hard perfectionist, until I realized I was happy being imperfect.
Unfortunately, I am guilty!. I am finally learning to relax now that I've learned how counterproductive and stifling it can be. I would rather have this trait than the opposite one of sloppiness anyday!
Mostly, yes!
But, indeed, it's counter-productive. It cripples you, stops you, fixes you.. You look around after a while to realize that those who made mistakes and learned from them had a better chance of learning and getting more results.
There's times, however, when it can be a good thing. Balance and good judgment are what you need!
yes although I'm much much easier on myself than I was years ago. Now I'm a little more forgiving if things aren't perfect.

Do you consider yourself to be physically fit AND what is your weekly fitness regimen?Right now, I run 2 miles 3 times a week. I don't really think that's enough to say that I'm really fit, but it's enough to keep me in reasonable shape for now. Ideally I'd do about double what I do now and lift...
