    Why Didn't God Destroy Satan?

Because God valued Free Will so highly that he even lets Satan, his enemy, use it.  God could kill Satan, but chooses not to, at least for now.  See http://thinkingaboutthebigquestions.blo … an-to.html

because how would religious people explain bad things that happen. the bible wouldn't make sense if there wasn't satan, not that it makes sense really anyway.

Got nothing to do with free will, God has a Purpose and Plan and Yes Satan will be destroyed at the correct time, with all humans who did not follow God "Jesus Christ".
Documented and when it will take place.
Rev 12:9        And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Rev 20:2        And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Rev 20:7       And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
Rev 20:10    And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Rev 20:15     And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Wrong, God created Lucifer, which became Satan the Devil. Not the same coin, nor will ever be, Satan is in the box he already convicted and is sitting waiting for his sentence to get worse. and finally destroyed with no power.
Rev 20:2     And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Rev 20:3     And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

    Nuff said Satan the loser

because he wants us to have Free will, meaning he loves us so much,  he wants us to Choose him in return.  He could have made a world where we wer fixed puppets.  Satan...is part of our free will process...he is allowed to tempt us.

God didn't destroy Satan because neither of them exist.

Because he knew that banishment from His presence was more punishment than a merciful Smiting.

Based on the voting, I can see Hubs is still predominated by blind religious numskulls and dimwits.  Pathetic, really..you should all just stand on a dark roadside in some backwater southern State peddling your fantasies of fire and brimstone to your inbred cousins who don't even have one working braincell between 10 generations.  Really, time to GROW UP America.  There is reality outside your comic book and it contains real world man made evil.  No amount of mumbo jumbo gibberish will make the bogeyman appear or take blame for your collective stupidity. Enough of this childish crap!

the destruction of satan, or the idea of satan, makes god irrelevent...so he would in fact destroy himself!

I am more concerned about what I am doing rather than being concerned about God destroying Satan.  Trying to saty positive and encourage others to do so is enough.

When God is ready to fight Satan, I hope to watch it on pay -per-view with a nice bucket of popcorn.

Light is simply the absence of darkness. In the presence of God or a higher power, satan or any dark power is simply a non-entity on non-existent, thus, no action is necessary. Just allow the reign of God's grace within and without and any negative power is rendered moot and academic. The intellect could never fathom nor accept as such since satan is its own creation and has to be real, otherwise its illusion is destroyed. Only man's essence and soul can grasp its own truth.
