Can you define/explain your understanding of "an illusion"?
I would like to know what your understanding of "one being in an illusion", is? What would one's possibilities be, once in an illusion and what different consequences and/or outcomes could be, once one is in an illusion?
And lastly, could one in an illusion operate within it and at the same time negate it?
Well usually we create illusions from past experiences.Say someone hurt us, or this was a traumatic event. So than say in the present moment someone did something to trigger this memory. It brings up old emotions and feelings, and than we don't know why we are feeling that way. Yet we can sometimes have in our mind this happening right now again, which it may not be, but we are reflecting on those flash backs, emotions, feelings, and than projecting it into the moment. We are in an illusional fear in the moment and reacting on those things. But at the same time we can control that illusion and think positively and handle it another way in a positive manner. Illusion is invisible, and something we create out of our own thinking, and most of the time we are dead wrong, but we will hold on to the illusion and think negatively. But if we let go of the illusion we are not controlled by emotion, feeling, and hurting others because of an illusion.
I highly recommend you read A Course in Miracles because there is no easy way of explaining it because if there was more people would understand.
One being in an illusion is to be deceived- to think that the outcome will be good is an illusion- deception always appears to be good to the eyes and our senses. An illusion causes and induces seduction. And seduction causes & can sedate one so they do not know it's an illusion until they are in the midst of the bad consequences.
Once the consequences hit there's only one way out repent to God for the forgiveness of lust and allowing yourself to be seduced away from doing the right thing in Jesus name. Also God will lead and guide us if we ask and than we will learn God's voice and follow it. Get to know the word of God it leads us into right ways and safety from the destruction that can be caused by following the lying illusions/imaginations.This will cause us to not believe an illusion or a lie because we know the truth and the truth will set us free IF we continue in it.So yes there is a way to be free from illusion. While in bondage to it get free from it at the same time by submitting ourself to God and asking for him to lead us out- turn from (repent) following the illusion and focus on what is true and good - which is God.While we were still sinners believing a lie/ an illusion Christ died for us so we can be free.
If Jesus Christ sets us free than we are free for sure. This one of the lessons taught in Genesis is how sly the snake was in trying to convince Eve that surely she will not die if she disobeys God. This is where Eve enter into the illusion of it being good- being enticed to follow her feelings instead of the truth. We must follow what is good, pure, holy in order to see clearly and not be deceived by an illusion.
Also Christ died to remove the veil from our eyes so we can see and understand the truth.
One being in an "illusion" is an attempt to fake reality to better understand life, death and their own heart. Once in an illusion, at times, life seems unbearable... Other times, life is what what we want. An illusion is a trick played not only on the mind, but the heart.
An illusion is the mind's belief that something false is true when the origin of the deception comes from the external world. For example, a firecracker may make you think a gun has fired, or a magician that he is levitating a scantily dressed girl on stage.
A delusion is the mind's belief that something false is true when the origin of the deception is within the believer. For instance, a paranoiac may think everyone is out to get him.
Being in an illusion, then, is having been tricked into thinking something is so when it isn't. The danger in that is one of misperception. When you think falsehoods are facts, you make decisions and take actions accordingly, and often you go wrong as a result.
An illusion is merely a perception of things that differes from "reality" or at least a standardized definition of it.
Dreams are illusions - even if they are exact replays of actual events. LUCID dreams - now THERE'S a phenomenon in which you are shaping the illusion!
If you happen to have a lucid dream in which you're going crazy trying to find where that buzzing or beeping is coming from - and in your lucid DREAM state - EVENTUALLY conceive an alarm clock - brrrrrrrrr!!!!! - talk about a surreal awakening!
Would, I know, if I were in a illusion...........would I?
My " boss" thinks that I can feed 85 people on $5.50 ( per person) a day...........He thinks this.........it is an illusion..... (anywhere you might go, for breakfast, lunch or dinner will cost 5 bucks.).....but he does not know it. Is he "illusional" , "dilusional", or budget minded?
If I think that I can pick up all slack, because my staff, can't meet the standard.........am I committed, determined, illusional or dilusional?
My point is this...........do not take the positive thinking of another, and turn it into a negative, because YOU can not carry the weight or answer the call.
Finally, " illusional" is not the same as " dilusional"..........it is not.
It angers me, that "some" of you play such word games, and yet, you call me, " bigotted" or "opionated."
Perhaps, these things do not apply to you, and I did not mean to set you up for ridicule or backlash......I did not, but, after a while of these games, one just becomes 'weary' and defensive.
Please, readers,.........understand, that there is no history between myself and the asker. Do not let my understanding influence your own.
A nice question which is thought provoking. I will give a small example about illusion. In the twilight hours(when there is no sufficient light nor it is dark) we walk along a road. Suddenly, we visualize something in the center of the road. It looks like a snake coiled. We could not proceed further due to fear that it may bite us.Then somebody brought a torch light and focused the light on the snake? Oh! it was only a coir somebody has thrown on the road. It looked exactly like a snake in the twilight. Now, the snake is an illusion. It was really a coir. But that illusion vanished only when we focus a light on it.
Illusion is well defined in Hindu Concept of Maya. But to explain Maya is not possible, for you must understand the Hindu Worldview first.

How does free will explain or justify the existence of evil? Many Christians have told me that evil is a necessary byproduct of having free will. This doesn't seem to be true to me, given the following thoughts:1. If free will exists in heaven, and evil does not, it is possible to have free...

God is perfect. To my knowledge, no theist will deny this claim, so I'm not going to spend any time defending it.If God is perfect, then all the consequences of his actions must be perfect. To deny this would be like claiming you had a perfect mechanic, but your car's brake pads and oil...
