There are hubs written on this subject with abundant scriptures to support not only that Jesus claimed to be God but many others recognized Jesus as the Son of God. It was the religious leaders who refused to admit Jesus Christ was God, but even the demons recognized Jesus as being the Son of God. It took the disciples awhile but they eventually acknowledged that Jesus was the Christ the Son of God and later wrote letters insisting that Jesus Christ was equal with God – the exact image of God.
Exodus 3:14 And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'"
John 8:58-59 Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM." Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
I am! Is an explicit claim to deity. Although each occurrence of the phrase "I am" in the Fourth Gospel needs to be examined individually in context to see if an association with Ex 3:14 is present, it seems clear that this is the case here (as the response of the Jewish authorities in the following verse shows).
My answer was too long and rec. suggestion to make a hub - I already did that and was told it was duplicate which means that you can find plenty of material and scripture to answer this question.
