The bible does not give an exact date but the verses of the account indicate the season. It was not winter as it was a stary night.  Therefore it was about September which further study indicates. December in Israel is winter and the shepherds are not out herding the sheep.

I have a hub called "The Bible Reveals When Jesus Was Born", which addresses all the details given in the Bible (who was reigning at the time, the birth of John the Baptist, the death of Pharaoh, the time of year the shepherds would be in the fields keeping their flocks by night, proof of the appearance of the star, etc.), which lead to the exact date of September 11, 3 BC.  Jesus was definitely NOT born on December 25th.  History should convince you that Jesus existed.  More material has been written about Jesus than any other person in history.

just because more people wrote about him does not make him factual.  It's an appeal to authority.  not to mention all of the people that wrote about him don't agree on even the most foundational aspects.

There is no exact date. Matthew says it was during Herod the Greats reign, Herod died in 4 BC. But Luke 2:1 says it was during the rule of the governor Quirinius, he didn't become governor until 6 AD. So the Bible contradicts itself on the subject.

The year is fairly accurate (although he was probably actually born about 4 BC) but the date no one knows for sure. The 25th of December is simply a date to celebrate the purpose of his life - although the celebration misses the entire point. The purpose of a Christian Christmas should be to realize that we are saved by a God of overwhelming love and to share that love through loving and caring for those in need (giving to those that NEED it, not those that are already our friends).
