The question, by itself, is not demeaning.
What is the attitude of the asker? Are they tempting you? Or are they challenging you, supportively?
If one reacts to the question, then one is letting ego interfere. That is a "temptation." And, as the prayer says, "...lead us not into temptation."
Confidence need not be arrogance. If one is truly humble, then confidence can be faith. Simply answer, "yes." No need to prove it, for the clamoring for proof is also temptation. That's begging ego to awaken -- to be aroused. That is evil. But some people don't know any better.
I love your picture, but one need not "react" to anything. "Reaction" is ego talking. Simply take the appropriate action. Be a source of creation (cause) rather than a cog in the machine of reaction (effect).
