Are you religious of spiritual?
More and more people call themselves spiritualists. But others are more devout to their religion. How can you define it?
GOD IS SPIRT THOSE WISHING TO PLEASE HIM WILL WORSHIP HIM IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH. REF; RELIGIOUS ; MATT 16-18 GOD CHRIST BUILT 'ONE' CHURCH HIS!
I regard myself as a human being that is spiritual in nature that believes and sees the essence of a divine spirit and consciousness in all things, everything. I do believe there is a creator of this universe but wouldn’t try to define it; although I feel a mixture of the feminine and masculine essence there.
I wouldn’t define myself as part of any religion although coming from an Irish family I know I have been influenced early in my years by the Catholic Religion but that never really stayed with me when I grew up, I have been very interested in the esoteric knowledge’s of old and have found many examples and different concepts that keep me distant from any Religion, in saying that I will not say I have all the truths so I would never try to claim what is right or wrong?
As I believe we are all old souls that have been around a long time so I don’t think it’s wise preaching to the ‘Choir’ so to speak, I simply enjoy the concept that we are all on our journeys and we are all part of the same experience as a whole.
Like @Mark, I am a spiritualist, believing that God created the template, including free will, of all that is in the Universe at the moment just prior to the Big Bang; that, as a consequence, God and the Universe are one in the same.
That said, this belief probably falls under the definition religion, but not necessarily an organized one which, I suspect, your question is actually concerned with.
Not one person on the planet can prove one tiny little bit about sprits and/or any kind of diety at all. We all like to think we know the answers that vary greatly depending on our adolescent upbringing and our grown-up perseption of what we would like there to be. And that's a big fat PERIOD.
Why is it that everything we teach all of our children all over the globe, and everything we teach each other in the highest learning institutions again from around the globe, all require us to supply proof of all our decisions calculations, and conclutions. All except religion religious beliefs that is. I wonder why. Hell, we can't even explain our oun consciousness but your all willing to go to war and get our children blown to bits defending your set-in-concrete religious beliefs arent you?
So get with the United Nations and adopt a resolution that states anyone caught on a battlefield under the age of 30 will be shot on the spot. Now lets see you holy rollers go to war defending your unsubstantiated religious and spritual beliefs.
Fat chance huh?
I can't tell exactly. I can't see a difference between the two.
Is it spirigious or relitual? I always get those confused.
People who find faith and stick with it believing that their faith is the only faith are religious. Religious people also find the need to bombard you with their beliefs and bash other religions. Spiritual people, on the other hand, I would have to say are close to being religious. Except they don't need to explain to people what they believe. Spiritual people seem to me as being religious without the nonsense. They have their beliefs and stick to them, but do not shoot other ideas down. They are understanding that not everyone has the same religion and that no religion is proven right or wrong.
Depends what you define these words. Please read my hub if you have time on "What is Taoism" and you might be able to tell me... haha.. The word religion in Chinese is totally not the same as the western version. So.. it's hard to say!

Religion has been oftentimes categorized as the GREAT DELUSION and OPIATE of humankind. Religion has been the means of separation and dissention among humankind. Wars and prejudices against those we deemed to be outsiders have been done in the name of religion. ...

Atheists, would you say religion has had a positive impact on society, or negative?I'm going to exclude extremists in this question, since both the religious and non-religious agree that they are bad. So, it more so concerns your everyday follower who generally doesn't provoke any hostility. As a...

Why is it so important to some that everyone must share their spiritual or religious belief?Or even their lack of belief? We cannot ALL be the only ones who know the truth about life,or God, or the bible yet so many people are convinced that they do know, and what's more, the rest of the world are...

To be spiritual, does it mean that an individual has to be religious or believe in god?
