    Why did God create man?

God created everything.  Man did not ask for life, god gave it to him.
Was it to see what man, created in his own image and given free will would get up to, like in an ant farm?
God is great, all powerful and unimaginable.  Yet he created man in his own image, with the power to imagine and a huge capacity to enact good or evil.
Athiests ask, why did man create god?  Their usual answer is, for someone to protect man from monsters in the night.  Athiests have a god given free will to think this.
But what is in this for god?  Worship or nagging prayer? Why did he bother?

God creating humans is like children making toys, to play with, enjoy and to destroy when bored.

Funny, because that's exactly what humans do with the concept of God.

We are here to be loved. We are here to give love. We are on Earth to love one another and ourselves. We were created a little less than the angels, and given free will. God allowed us to divide by nations, colors, different perspectives, disabilities  - If we wish to return to a realm of perfect Love, Heaven, we must overcome these challenges by finding love in ourselves and others and renouncing the power of selfishness, driven by sins, fueled by greed. Remember: the soul was created by God and naturally wants to love the Creator; it is the flesh that hinders and confuses why we are here.

Why did God create man? God did not create man for our benefit but for his glory. Since we are created in his own image, it is free will that has given man the capacity to imagine but did not tell us to act poorly..... read more

To be happy with God in heaven. This is the purpose of God for us. What a wonderful thing is that! For us and just for us. Because of His love for us. Jesus said that anything who is not against us if for us.

As a child growing up here in the bible belt in a devout Church of God family I used to ponder this question deeply.By the things I was taught by my church it was kind of confusing to sort out. By reading between the lines and considering that the Bible was revealed to man in a way that it could be comprehended at the time I came up with my own personal theory.I think God created man for true communion with a being that in his image had total freedom of choice and thought. God already had a minion of drone type servants that sing praises in worship, but contrary to most interpretations these drones(angels)have no choice.I understand the stories of Lucifer but like the other drones he had no free will or choice either. His story was revealed like most in a form that man at the time could wrap their minds around. If one takes a step back and looks at the big picture it's not very hard to see that for God to have true communion with a like being that being would have to have a choice. Without the devil there can be no choice.Without evil can there be any good? We would be drones if not provided with two directions in which we had to choose and this is actually the only likeness to his image that we possess. At the same time in terms of power this choice gives us tremendous power.Power in which when freed of the binds of life could be an offense to the Creator, therefore the need of a place of containment(Hell). If you read enough of the Bible it can be a very confusing book but read with the understanding of when it was written and the main principles it appears to me to be a guide to prep your mind and soul for the astral existence as well as life. For us to be truly entities that God can have true communion with everything else is unfortunate necessity. Sometimes I think that instead of all of the politics man has inserted into the Bible, that someone should teach the main point and try to leave out the confusing history and explanations that no man on earth can truly give. But these are just the thoughts of a simple man who does not even live as he was  raised and has not lived for God in many years.

I Think From Mah side the short answer to the question is “for His pleasure.”

Thanks for a very good question. I being a Muslim have learned from the Quran that God has created man to worship God and to test him. Our life is full of trials with good and bad happening. We have to be patient when God test us with negative things and thankful to God when he gives us from his bounties.

Generally, it is a human perception that people who are wealthy are favored by God and the poor are the neglected ones. But in reality the more you are given the more accountable you are, so a wealthy person is much more accountable to God than a poor person on how he earned his wealth and where did he spend it.

With all the other creations that God has created in the universe only Humans and Jinns (Demons) have free will. They will be accounted for each of their actions on the day of Judgement.

I quote verses form The Quran for your reference.

"And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me." [Al-Quran 51: :56]

“He Who created Death and Life, that He may try which of you is best in deed; And He is the Exalted in Might, oft-Forgiving.” (Al-Quran 67:2)

“And know ye that your possession and your progeny are but a trial; and that it is Allah with whom lies your highest reward”. (Al-Quran 8:28)

Thank you for the Question Agantum.  I agree with Christianajohan and with part of what Viquar said.  God created us in his own image out of his Great Love and gave us free will.  He sent his Own Son to earth  to teach us how to live together and to show us how to be good and do good onto others.

For those of us who live according to Christ's teachings (or try to), God created a Heaven for us where He expects us to go and enjoy His company for all eternity.

He created our Soul and placed us upon Earth to work towards our goal of ending up in Heaven after our Death.  This is the meaning of life and all the problems and suffering that we have to face.  We are not like Jesus at all, but we have to try to deal with them as Jesus would have done.

I think the Almighty just wanted to be loved. I think He wanted to share His creation with someone that had the innocence and heart of a child.

I also think the Almighty wanted to see who would seek Him out and who would love Him, regardless of the trials and tribulations they must endure in this proving ground called Planet Earth.

I think He wanted a being, not unlike Himself, that could not fully understand His immense powers, might, and majesty, like the angels in heaven and hell, but one whose vision of Him is somewhat clouded by mystery. To see just a reflection of Him, yet search for Him, seek Him, call upon Him, cry to Him, praise Him and love Him.

He wanted to be a Father and do the things that good fathers want to do for their children, such as: love, share, protect, play, provide for and teach.

If God were to be compared to an ocean, we would be like the droplets on the crest of its foamy waves: up in the air for an instant and then back again into the mass of the great body of water that is the ocean. The droplets and the ocean from which they proceed are made of the same substance, salty water. Now put the word "Love" where you see the word "ocean," because God is Love, and you will see how we are created in His likeness. Our coming into being proceeds from the ongoing playful movement that exists at the surface of the ocean of Divine Love. Unlike the ocean, which has no intelligence, God knows each single "droplet" intimately and by name because they are all part of His Being.

God wanted to give. He wanted us to willingly receive, so he gave us free will.  But mankind wanted to give pleasure to the flesh. Mankind decided this pleasure was more important than listening to God's voice and instruction.

Man was created so that Allah (God) may be recognized and be praised. All other creatures other than human, don't have the ability to think, research and discover. They have just limited capacities and so their activities through their life span remain very limited. To break this stillness God created man so the man may think about his creation -- here in this answer we are doing same, man may research -- we did research before answering this question, and then finally man may recognize the Creator and the objective of his Creation -- So we did.

God Created Adam (who was a New Soul) or one that did not yet exist; to Call Satan to Repentance. When Satan refused to do as he was instructed and chosen to do in the first place. Which was to instruct GOD's Children with the Knowledge of GOD and how to behave in the Kingdom of God's presence, for God was off in a far county (Deep Space) Creating or preparing for their Fruition or their coming of age.

Adam was not a man or Human until he and Eve fell from grace. When this happened they became as the six day creation; Flesh Beings, with mortal souls, but not Cain or Able; they were a Hi-bred and a Human as well as Innocent Souls.

It Grieved GOD that Satan refused once again to repent from his great sin Lust of Power and the denial of truth. That Satan is not nor can he ever be as GOD or greater than GOD.

The Sixth day creation were given the chance to repent and the right to break away from Satan's rule over them. GOD made this clear to them and to us. By given us the power to denounce them and authority they pose over us. Them who? Our captors! Satan and his governmental body the fallen angels who refused repentance as well.
