Have you ever had a near death experience?

Many years ago I was attacked and very nearly strangled; had a co-worker not walked outside and scared off my assailant, I would have died in an alley at age 20. At that time I had the same experience many others have described and which is considered the classic near death phenomenon. I have read a great deal on this subject and understand the alleged scientific explanation for these events, but I would be very interested in hearing personal stories from those who have had similar incidents.

I've experienced 3 now.  In one, I felt so faint and weak and my ears were ringing.  I then discovered a "frequency of salvation" amidst the tumult.  You just stretch ee-ee-ee! into eeeeeeeeeeee-eeeeeeeeeeee-eeeeeeeeee into "Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh".  Could this frequency be the key to heaven?  Maybe.  I felt myself being lifted out of my body and "saw" this tremendous light.
My parents found me deep in this meditative state and revived me.  After being dosed with Haldol, I felt like I was going to be sucked into Hell and become a womanly whore for Satan.  I took a sedative (Ambien) to abort the experience.  This occurred during a time of inner-crises resulting from cessation of a powerful anxiolytic drug.  I'm not sure what it means.
Just know that if you experience an NDI, listen for ringing ears and then for the calming longer, lighter frequency.  Know that music played loudly in the ears will stop the experience as will dosing the self with a tranquilizer.

I had an experience like that. Like yours, it was triggered by a violent crime when I was 19 and the aftermath of that crime. After reading a lot about it (how can you not?) I have come to the conclusion that it's kind of like the brain, body, and spirit hitting the 'reset' button. For years afterward, when I was struggling or wanting to give up, I'd think of that experience and think, well, I can't, there's some reason for me to be here.

I never did find any great reason for me to be here beyond just the fact that I'm as good a person as any other person, but just having that experience to hold onto got me through the dark times. So I take it as both a physiological reaction to trauma AND a form of grace and mercy.

I didn't become a great healer or psychic or anything. But I do feel like there's more to reality than just this physical existence, and part of the reason I feel this way is that I experienced that.

CR - I agree, there is definitely a sense of purposefulness to my life that I doubt I would feel had I not experienced . . . well, whatever it was that I experienced.

Like yourself, I have not become a great healer or teacher, although I did learn to read Tarot and i Ching, and like to think my efforts have helped others on their paths. Like yourself, it has made me think about life in a different way.

Perhaps that's the point. We *know* that life really is fragile and that tomorrow is not promised to us. We don't just say that every minute is precious, we *know* that's true.

    How cool is that?

I do have proof that there is life after death and if you read my story and see my picture of it... It may help you and find some of your answers. I have only posted one hub.
